Developer of 8-Bit Adventures 2 here! I just wanted to say a massive thank you to David for the incredible review. It was concise, verbose, and you hit the nail on the head with so many things my team and I were trying to achieve (and I think you're the first person to draw the connection with FF4 DS' Augments!). It was an absolute joy to watch, and I’m so grateful that you took the time to cover 8-Bit Adventures 2 =) And thank you to everyone who's commented for all your enthusiasm and kind words! It's put a big smile on my face today =D
A great thing about David's channel is that he introduces a lot of us to games that we probably would have never found, picked up or played. This will definitely be on my list of pick ups when i see it on the Switch store.
Thank you so much for this fantastic game I had a BLAST playing it! You're a fantastic developer and yeah, the FF4 DS augment system come straight to my mind when I picked them up.
@@craig581 Thanks so much for the kind words Craig! That's exactly why I wanted to get in touch with David in the first place, having seen some of his videos =D
@@davidvinc It sincerely means the world to me reading that David - thank you SO much! =D Haha, I guess we've both played a little too much Final Fantasy then! XD
I’m so happy and thankful you keep me updated with the most important information on RPG’s. Thank you so much David and I seriously appreciate you so much!

Awesome! What an incredible review. I don't comment very often on videos, but I had to drop one here to let you know that it's so amazing to see channels like yours covering indie games, David! It means so much to see those smaller titles getting the spotlight, too. I oftentimes chat with the dev for 8-BA2, and he's an incredible person! Just wonderful all around. I've been looking forward to this game FOREVER (I never stop mentioning this to him), so seeing it receive such praise is wonderful. I'm so hyped! The end of the month can't come fast enough! Great job with all your videos, by the way. I may not comment much, but I'm always looking! 😆
I had this on my steam wishlist for years!! Finally coming out! I’ll get it on Switch for sure! Also, you said the same thing about the text in Triangle Strategy and I loooved the story in that so I’m all good for this one! I love lots of text 😁
I love how you're a creator who's first console was the NES that you got in 1985 just like I did. Doesn't make me feel as old...😁 I think that's why I gravitate to your channel. We're roughly the same age and I loved the original FF and Dragon Quest (see what I did there) and my love of RPGs continued through the SNES and PS1/N64 even through the PS2/Xbox/GameCube era. I love watching your news coverage and reviews but, as I get older though, i find myself wanting to play these new RPGs, but talking myself out of it because of not having the time I used to when we were kids and young adults. What advice would you give to me to be able to hop back into my favorite genre? Maybe this can be a subject of one of you're videos.
This looks fantastic! As someone who grew up on the original dragon warrior(quest) and final fantasy(s), this looks like a must-have for me. Thanks for bringing light to something I might've otherwise written off!
100% agree on wanting less, more focused talking in these retro-inspired games. Replaying Pokemon Yellow right now and forgot how much I loved the short snippets. I think modern "retro" devs would be better off with short snippets, hints, and environmental world building. The excessive dialogue also runs the risk of breaking the player experience because (let's be honest) indie game devs aren't the greatest at writing. Amazing at software development, of course, but best to just play to your strengths.
Final Fantasy 1 is actually one of my favorite Final Fantasy games just because of how simple and straight to the point is. I might have to check out this game!
The sprite work looks really gorgeous and the combat looks like the kinda thing I'm in to. On the other hand, that dialogue has some major fanfic cringe vibes going on. Judging by your concern that the characters talk too much, I'm willing to bet they didn't hire an editor or they did but refused to trim. At least worth a shot at the demo though.
'8 but adventures' sounds like it would be too jokey or referential for me, but if the dialogue is more on the melodrama side I can tolerate that, even if it's a bit long winded.
Skits are fine because they're short, sweet, to the point, and most importantly - Optional! Sometimes this dialogue can last for upwards of 15 minutes, I just want to get to the battling and exploration.
Yo, this looks really rad! I admit, I totally slept on it because of the kinda generic name, which really seems to undersell the style and charm on display here!
Game looks great but man I wish they'd put a single ounce of effort into the title, eugh. Gives the whole thing the stink of a free ad-covered phone game

Hi David! Wow, this definitely looks like some classic NES rpg goodness.
This is my type of game ! Retro rpg fanatic here !!
I picked up Chained Echos after seeing your review and now I need to pick up this as well, thanks for the awesome content.
Good choice!

I do hope you enjoy it!
I never heard of this. Thanks for giving it a spotlight! I'll definitely pick this up.
good to hear about the dungeon designs. I recently played through Silviana for MSX computer. Those samey looking dungeons really were a bummer.
This looks incredible. Thanks for putting it on my radar. 👍
Hope you enjoy it!
Oooh man, this is tickling my nostalgia for those old RPGs. I'll probably pick up on the switch.
This looks great, hadn’t heard of it until this video. Definitely gonna buy it, thanks for the review!
Hope you enjoy it!
I remember seeing a trailer for this game and I was intrigued. Thanks for the review David.
Wishlisted both 1 and 2. Thanks for the info!

Interesting. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the heads up, David!
I follow this game since quite a time and it looks so good. PS: bonus point because the game dev seems really kind. 😁
This looks great, lots of good stuff coming out for fans of retro rpgs.
Nice! I didn't even know about this. Always leave it to David to pick up things not on our radar! I'll check this out and see if it's right for me.
Had no idea what this was til now but will definitely check it out. Really like these quality retro games lately 💕
This looks really nice. The sprite art looks great. I'll have to keep an eye on this, much like Kingdoms of the Dump.
I am certainly looking forward to this! Been wanting a retro experience lately
This looks really good! Really excited to see what becomes of it and thank you for notifying me of this game.
This looks delightful! I wishlisted the game :D
This looks fantastic! As someone who grew up on the original dragon warrior(quest) and final fantasy(s), this looks like a must-have for me. Thanks for bringing light to something I might've otherwise written off!
Been out of the loop on whats coming out but this is a pick up for me on the 31st. Great review
This looks pretty cool. I’ll probably pick it up.

This looks right up my alley, final fantasy 1 is my favorite game. The comparisons and nostalgic feeling you’re exuding sounds quite exciting
Final Fantasy 1 is actually one of my favorite Final Fantasy games just because of how simple and straight to the point is. I might have to check out this game!
This looks fantastic, thanks David.
Looks like something I would play
The sprite work looks really gorgeous and the combat looks like the kinda thing I'm in to.

This game looks adorable and a lot of fun
'8 but adventures' sounds like it would be too jokey or referential for me, but if the dialogue is more on the melodrama side I can tolerate that, even if it's a bit long winded.
This looks like it could be fun.
Looks wonderful, hopefully it's on the shorter side.
As if TOO much dialogue in a JRPG could even be a thing! I wonder if David hates the skits in Tales Of… (;
Skits are fine because they're short, sweet, to the point, and most importantly - Optional! Sometimes this dialogue can last for upwards of 15 minutes, I just want to get to the battling and exploration.
This has a lot of Mystic Quest vibes! I dig it!
Can I get a physical copy of this game?
Does anyone else miss the active time battle system? You don't see that a lot anymore. It's honestly my favorite, but i grew up on it.
hopefully theres a physical release
Yo, this looks really rad! I admit, I totally slept on it because of the kinda generic name, which really seems to undersell the style and charm on display here!
I can't wait for it to come out on PS4/PS5. I was hoping it'd be out already for those systems lol
Hey Dave how's the difficulty on this one ?
Game looks great but man I wish they'd put a single ounce of effort into the title, eugh. Gives the whole thing the stink of a free ad-covered phone game
Likely to pick it up. Thanks!
Can't wait to play this on my PS5
Omg I’m so glad this video exists this is a day one pick up and no life for me
RPG goodness
Josh is a great guy and I hope this game is a smash hit!
Aw, thanks so much Tyler! Same for Quartet =D
is there a physical version???
So where is the demo??
Buying this.
:0 I thought console releases were coming later in the year and not the 31st.
From what Josh has told me, yes that's correct. Steam release first.
I found 2 gems today I'm sold.
Xbox release?
I need this game for android
