Broxton once again blows an NLCS postseason game against the Phillies, like he did in 2008 NLCS against the Phillies (Matt Stairs home run). And Broxton faced Stairs in this NLCS again at 12:44 (Broxton walked him) Broxton also had a tough inning against the Mets in the 2006 Division Series in game 3. Broxton was sort of like a Benitez-Hoffman-Wagner, in that he got great regular season numbers, but in postseason games, yikes.

Phillies-Dodgers facing each other in back-to-back NLCS (2008-2009). They also facee each other in back to back NLCS in 1977-1978 (both won by the Dodgers). Last time we had two NL opponents facing each other in back to back NLCS was in 2004-2005 (Astros-Cardinals) Last time it happened in the ALCS was in 2003-2004 (RSOX-Yankees)
So we are denied a Dodgers-Yankees World Series, last time being 1981. And we are also denied the return of Joe Torre to Yankee Stadium, as an opposing manager. And with both the Angels and Dodgers losing in the LCS, we are also denied the first ever all Los Angeles World Series.
SO Randy Wolf started game 4 in Philly, and Vicente Padilla started game 5 in Philly. Both were very popular in Philly, as part of those really good Philly teams pre-2007 (2001-2006) that always came up short of making the postseason or had some September collapses
AND the beginning of the end for the Dodgers under Frank and Jaime McCourt. The couple divorced soon thereafter, and Frank ran the team financially to the ground to the point MLB had to take over day-to-day operations in 2011. Prior to the 2012 season, the Dodgers were sold to a group led by Magic Johnson. LA missed the playoffs in 2010, '11, and '12. They have made the playoffs every year since then going into 2025.
Clayton Keyshaw struggling in the playoffs?
Surely this won’t be a reoccurring theme
Lol!
Where it all began lol
I thought two teams met in 2024 NLCS as Phillies lose to Mets and Dodgers beat Padres.

12:34 WOW, I dont think ive ever seen that, in a team bringing in their closer in a non-extra-inning-game when they are losing in the game
The Dodgers were one out away from a tie series and a guaranteed home game 6…….
Talk about an October gutpunch
closers need to throw high in the zone for the last out sometimes.

My gosh, it was 93 degrees on game 2 daygame
104 in game 1 2017
The Phillies become the first back-to-back pennant winners since the 1998-2001 Yankees.
Given how game 4 ended, it felt as game 5 getting away from LA the way it did was inevitable
Pedro pitched a gem in game 2, WOW
Pedro and Park pitching in Dodger Stadium in a postseason game, thats something.
The end of the Chip Caray TBS experiment

This marked the end of an era for two longtime October mainstays: Joe Torre and Manny Ramirez
