Back in the mid 80's when I thought Austin really was the live music capital of the world, there four singer-songwriters I always tried to hear when and wherever they performed - Nanci Griffith, Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keen, and Darden Smith. This song by Darden is still one of my favorites. (By the way you could almost always catch them at the Cactus Café for $5 or $6.)
Loved him! Then bam, we saw him is a restaurant/bar in Reno. He's so much better with these fine musicians. He lacked them and it made all the difference. I had every record he ever made.

You always had good taste Mack.
What a superb song. Anyone remember "Frankie and Sue" on Mountain Stage, with the Twister Sisters doing "please, baby, please"?
I bought the album this song is from when it was new, never heard this live version, nice

He's still putting out music. He has his own UA-cam channel.
