do you need to add weight to the tail? I put an ounce on the back and my maiden didn't go so well, almost crashed, no control under power. have to try again with the weight off
Yeah , finally a new video from the Volantex ASW 28 grandmaster himself! Your piloting skills on the ASW 28 are simply awesome and unique ,glad that you decide to share a new one to us here on youtube :-) Still waiting here around for a calm day to maiden my ASw 28 plus ,hope it will be soon .. Hi, thank you. Yeah, I have missed the most beautiful days of this year for that unfortunately ... or not, maybe I should make an onboard flight video right after the fresh snow falls... I just received this link from a fellow pilot from France: ua-cam.com/video/YHdpyfmM0-8/v-deo.html He's going to make a similar onboard videos of a beautiful France.
@@AndrejSturm The green hills and valleys are just as beautiful as the snow scenes you've shared before! You may be bored with the same view everyday but for others in distance parts of the world (like me in southern California - mostly dry desert-like conditions) its a refreshing vision!
Great piloting the ASW28. I haven't flown mine yet I'm scared to I'm not a good pilot I usually buy a whole bunch of parts I have another kit just in case 😜
Grade flying skill! I have une ASW 28 the One with the weel. I am nota able to get the right CG using Lilo 3 cell 2200mAh, 1500mAh and the piloto! I tryed 3s cell 1300mAh + 2s cell 1000mAh acting as load but no piloto. Can you help?
I went back to watching this video to admire the evolutions you managed to make with this plane. I also took the same model and am interested in the settings you use to fly: I saw that in slow flight you lower the flaps, correct? other mixes? Thanks and congratulations for the thumbs !!
Thank you for this nice comment 😊 Yes, I am using the flaps as a regular flaps and I also mix them with the ailerons to get a better aileron authority (the flaps are moving the same way as ailerons). I don't use any other mixing on this plane. Happy flying and greetings from Slovenia.
I have two of the same models. Get the kit version and build your own from scratch. Better motor ESC to go with a good receiver 🤔😜 Put on proper hinges!! and you might consider laminating the wings and tail
I was wondering, do you plan to purchase a new big glider (epsilon) in the near future or are you "done" with the epsilon/staufenbiel? I do like my glider but I am a bit disappointed with the quality and the level of "PNP" it is in. It is definately not PNP, somewhere around the ARF level with a couple components installed. I also saw that the reason why the wing locking mechanism doesn't work reliably is because it is the wrong version that is used (insufficient strength). If I remember correctly the one ring plug is installed, that one is for gliders with
Hi Stef, I agree with all you wrote regarding the Epsilon XL3. I still have my Straton, fully functional, ready to fly. But since that crash with my XL3, I am affraid to fly any of my bigger planes, including my great Horizon Hobby CZ Cessna 150. I will probably buy a high performance, full CF DLG glider someday. It should be very interesting to fly with it, searching for thermals without any help from the motor, flying it on a micro slopes should be interesting too. Maybe next year.
@@AndrejSturm I understand, did you find the cause of the crash? I also like the F5J gliders but they are way out of my pricerange (what I am willing to pay for it). really cool though how extremely efficient they are. (prettymuch same size as the epsilon but 1/4 to 1/3th of the weight) ua-cam.com/video/UnXDaG0P4-U/v-deo.html Can almost work as A DLG
@@StefsEngineering I have not yet look at it since the crash. Those gliders are so expensive ... too much. Even a good 1500mm DLG costs 1000 eur and above. But they are worth the price ...
My phoenix 2400 doesn't do that whooosh sound. next buy asw 28 . There was 2.6m wingspan Volantex few years back .Its discontinued, shame .Nice low passes .Congrats!
Once i saw a video from a guy who flied Phoenix 1600 and i definitely remember there was that kind of 'whoosh' sound too when he flew past himself with the motor off. Maybe not as loud as on this video, but with a bit higher sound, like some whistle of the wind, still impressed me back then.
I have the Phoenix 1600 2000 and 2400, they all make the swhoosh sound. Especially the 2400! Perhaps you should be make a large dive and then flyby? I do fly 4s, replaced the 60esc.. placed the 40amp of the 2400 into the 1600..so that one can take 3s. Regarding the Swooshing; for "gras landing protection" I pasted tape on the entire edge of the wing... (which catches the wind first), I noticed the swhooos is way more intense. I am thinking about buying this asw 28 as well, but i am in doubt. I have been seeing the youtube movies. It doesnt have the hinges in the wings, plastic hood or canopy is a bit weak and breaks a lot. I am actually waiting on the upgraded version of the Asw.. V3. @Andrey, is this the 4023 850kv or the 1050kv? I see they have replaced it with new motor.. 4018 1050kv. I bought a spare 4023 1050kv racerstar it says it can take 6s.. ;-)
I flew RC sailplanes many years ago off high-starts and winches. WHERE'S THE SOARING!? Who cares if you can dive bomb yourself. That's not the intent...sheesh!
That Doppler effect sound when it flies by .. so satisfying
Boy, what I'd give to fly like that. Very nicely done, sir!
WoW !!! Excellent Flying. You really get those wings to flex, especially while inverted. So Cool. Such a Beautiful Countryside to fly.

All stock (prop, motor, servos), except the upgraded 45amp ESC to be able to safely use 4s Lipo.
Would love to see the flex on the wing with on-board camera ☺️
Would you say that the asw 28 is flying better tan you solius?
The Solius has better flying characteristics than the ASW28.
Excellenter Flug
Thinking about buying one should I do it
It's a good e-glider for the price. But if you have the money, buy the Multiplex Solius instead - better gliding performance and more nimble glider.

If you like to fly more aerobatic, then the ASW28 is a better choice. The P2400 has a better gliding capabilities but is not as nimble as the ASW28.

Thank you. If I remember correctly it's exactly at CG marks.
