Antichrist is not just an individual, but an ideological worldview held by any who are in opposition to Jesus and his Word. John is clear that those who depart from the faith prove they were never truly a part of it. He also reveals that it is not by our strength, but by the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit that we are protected from deceit and kept in the truth. Christians need to exercise discernment so we will know how to respond and remain rooted, especially when the testimony of seeming pillars of the faith are uprooted.
