Saito and Date exchanged bodies, but Date was still under the effects of the sedative. Still hazy, he slowly recovered his memory from six years ago...
Date in #89's body (his real body) successfully rescued Iris with the help of Moma, Mizuki, and Ota. They tracked down Saito, who was not in Date's body. Saito was using Hitomi as a human shield, so Aiba demanded that Date activate her self-destruct function. Date, with pain in his voice, gave Aiba the command, and she exploded in Saito's eye socket. With everything finished, Date started out the window at the pouring rain...

If I could lose my memories of a game franchise just to play it over again, this would be the one, or a really close second.

What really fansinating is that in Japanese Ai-ball (pronouced as eye-ball) also means "partner" (相棒). I played the JP version so I am not sure that any of you who played the EN gets a hint of that as well.
Seeing everything come together in this beautiful, well-crafted story was just....yes. I can't wait for NI.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. 😂I don't condone killing but at least in Falco's case it was for a cause he truly believed in (though later on sadly he was forced to kill others by Rohan). You just killed for the thrill of it, so who deserves worse here? Also imagine being such a badass prolific vigilante that instead of being fired and sent to prison/executed your superiors instead sweep everything under the rug just to save their own asses because of stuff that YOU did.
And 48:20 Jesus fucking Christ that part of the game still gets me for the sheer brutality and realism of it! Erm, we're not going to talk about the amount of psychological scarring that would probably occur if a twelve year-old saw her guardian for the past six years get his head blown up. Even though she knew that the real Date was in Falco's (his original) body, seriously, that is really damn traumatizing! Not to mention poor Mizuki only just found out about all this crap so I'm sure for her she also had a hard time believing that Falco was actually Date (and Saito was, well, Saito). Probably pretty damn traumatic for poor Iris, Ota, and Hitomi too, I mean dear lord that shit would scar anyone and Iris is still only a teenager! Can't imagine what was running through Date's head, either, seeing the same face that he saw in the mirror every morning suddenly blown to bloody bits. That's gotta cause some serious dissociation. Come to think of it, how did Date NOT suffer body dysmorphia after changing into Rohan, and again later back into his own body at the end of the Resolution Route? Saito's he lost his memory for, so I assume Date wouldn't suffer any dysmorphia because he doesn't even remember what his old body looked like until just a few days ago/now when he regains his memory.
Perhaps you can word part of the reason. I myself can't explain it, but something about "Anhilation" is extremely attractive to me. Same as Mizuki's and Iris' ending (not her route, just her ending).

Her data was stored in the Wadjet System cloud all around the world, encrypted, in pieces.
Like the "Fractal Figure" described by Saito (in Boss's body) in Annihilation, she was able to piece herself together, but it took time.
In other words, Pewter deleted either a local cloud that allowed for faster access, or deleted only the data that was unencrypted.
It's also possible Pewter had the foresight of backing up her data just in case he needed it for something else.
