Here's the thing Jim... the Blue Jays REFUSE to go beyond their evaluations when it comes to a contract/monetary standpoint. Being a 74 win team last year, they are going to need to overpay for free agents/Guerrero to actually get them to commit to this squad for the future; however, they don't want to do that. I understand not wanting to overpay (no one wants to overpay) but if they are actually serious about competing next year or in subsequent seasons they are going to need to stop talking and start spending. And OF COURSE that ties in dramatically to Vladdy and his deal. Vladdy is the foundation of this team and they are going to need to come to terms with the fact that a foundation as solid as Vladimir Guerrero Jr is very expensive. To be fair, until half way through last season, Vladdy had 2.5 years straight of not even being a Star player, Nevermind a superstar player. I'm a lifelong Mets fan and I can tell you that the other MLB owners HATE Steve Cohen. The Soto signing is going to have a negative effect on the MLB as a whole. It's going to create a situation where every big name free agent is going to try to one up the guy who got signed before him. Soto got $800 mil from the Mets now players like Vladdy Jr are looking at that and saying now I want Soto type money. It's going to hurt a lot of teams going forward. The pirates reds Marlins etc just to name a few. It's going to create a MLB where only 3 or 4 teams are going to sign all the best free agents and the other teams can't match the offers because they are all vast overpays. It's going to negatively effect the game itself. We are going to see Super teams created in the MLB. Like is already happening with the Dodgers and now maybe the Mets or Yankees. They can easily compete. Not a single owner of these teams isn’t a multi billionaire. They just don’t want to pay because they’re cheap and want to keep their money. If the Jays are thinking of trading Vlad at some point, wouldn't it make more sense to wait for the trade deadline, when teams are going to be fighting for the edge heading into the playoffs, and more willing to make better offers? By waiting until then, maybe if Toronto is somehow still in the race for a postseason spot, they decide to hang onto him for one last push. Who knows, if they shock the world and are a decent team, possibly he'll be open to staying. Not likely, but who knows?

I understand the logic of not wanting to trade him to upset the fans, new ballpark etc... however, if you keep him its for this year and then he's out anyway and you are left with nothing to show for him. I believe they should trade him and get back a package of players for the future. Whether its this year or next year he's gone why not benefit from him while you still have him under contract.

@@blacksheepmiracle1433 If Cubs have Kyle Tucker, they will probably think of re-signing him in season or off-season. Steve Cohen will probably be going after Vladdy in off-season and it's impossible to outbid him for players, unless the player does not want to be a Met!
@@Jqueens93 I don't disagree, however, if they are trying to go for it this season, why would they stop at Tucker? Aside from Shaw, Horton and Ballesteros, the Cubs have Cassie, Triantos and Alcantara that are Top 100 prospects and are currently blocked. They can make almost any deal happen.
Jays have no choice at this point to trade him, he's gone once he's a free agent
He is worth more now.
10 years $550M
I think it’s smart for Vladdy to decline a deal until halfway through the season (if he’s having a bad year) or until next offseason (if he’s having a great season)
If Vlad Jr is truly available expect Jerry Dipoto to go heavy for him. They really wanted him at the deadline but the Blue Jays just wouldn’t move him.
Soto contract raised the price so much. When was offer made?? May not have made an offer after Soto deal until they see if they get anyone else. Vladdy won't sign anything until he sees what TO gets
To sign vlady now after the soto deal it will take more..if vlady is 80 percent as good as soto then im thinking 38-40 mill a year for 15 years..580-600 mill
Wtf? Ed Rogers, you are going to lose your advantage over bell! I hate both of you, but I'm with Bell now. $160 per month. Multiply that by Canada, laugh out fucking loud.
He wants more. The market is paying ridiculous amounts right now. That 300-350 he thinks hebcan maybe get 500-600 why not right lol smh
I would pay Vladimir Guerrero Junior $765 million before I would pay one soda that money. Vladimir Guerrero is a better hitter. And Vladimir Guerrero is younger than Juan Soto so you got that part wrong.
Mets could put together a nice package
Especially if vlady says I only want the Mets. Idk if he has a no trade. Prob not he’s so young right?
Why trade prospects for him if you can wait and get him as a FA next offseason
Get Soto, Vladdy, whoever, and they'll still blow it😂. It's the Mets. Do everyone a favor and let Vladdy go somewhere else.
@ScottMiller-c1j good business decision but as a fan we want him now. LGM
@@dannyruiz992we're listening lol, best offer wins... what's the Mets offer?
I understand the logic of not wanting to trade him to upset the fans, new ballpark etc... however, if you keep him its for this year and then he's out anyway and you are left with nothing to show for him. I believe they should trade him and get back a package of players for the future. Whether its this year or next year he's gone why not benefit from him while you still have him under contract.
Vlad is going to get around $500 million on the open market
Vlad grew up in the Shadow of a HOFers MLB extension money. There was no incentive to sign an extension 1 year into his career like Acuna, JRod and even Tatis or Witt, who are the source of generational wealth in their family.
There's no way he would have locked up for a discount - then we manipulated his service time leaving him 5 days short of being in this class... Business is business
I doubt that offer is 10 either, probably 12 years.
Seems kinds weird that they project to pay Gimenez 23m in 2 years and not deem Vladdy worth more than 34 (if it is 10 years) in this market
Dominican greed
I don't want a Max contract from a DH.
Who is the DH?
He’s signing in Boston next season, Jimmy!
Might as well take Casas back in return now 😂
Mets will re sign alonso and valdy will be our DH for the next ten years! Lindor, Soto, valdy, Alonso, vientos, nimmo, Alvarez, acuna our starting lineup for 2025 and beyond!!! LGFM!!!
That would be insane...don't think we can pull that off, but here is to hoping....LOL
Tucker and Vlad need at least 500 mil starting point if Soto is getting 700 , Soto just wrecked the market
vladdy would be a perfect fit on the red sox, him and rafy playing the corners at fenway would be awesome
Not surprised at all from this reporting, As a matter of fact i expected this would happen being that in my opinion he would be looking forward to being a free agent. That being said are the Blue Jays willing to test the free agency market and start bidding against other teams❓️I'm Toronto i rather trade him and get prospects rather than let him walk for nothing.
For those who don't follow the Blue Jays, they need to appreciate that the two priorities for the fan base, in order of priority is 1. Get rid of the current GM; and 2. resign Vladimir Guerrero Jr!
Can you sign good players if you have not looked after your own, most likely not.
How about Acuna, Jett, Clifford, Mauricio and let you sign Alonso for Vladdy Jr.??
Why when you can get him next year as a FA
That’s too much for a rental
@@ScottMiller-c1jyou have to either trade for him now or sign Pete have to make this decision this offseason
@@ScottMiller-c1j you wanna wait a year to fill the need at 1B? If Pete isn't being brought back, why not get Vladdy now?
This isn't the Yankees we are talking about here. Cohen will rectify not getting Vladdy Sr. in Queens 2 decades ago.
@@SJD631NY the only way you trade for him now is if you can get him to agree to a new contract first
The Mets will never trigger that raise for Soto. Or they shouldn’t. He won’t dare leave and risk losing money on the market
He won’t lose any money. Cohen already said he’s pursuing Vladdy just as aggressively, if not more aggressively than he did for Soto. Vladdy will easily get at least $500 million from Cohen (probably more, but I’m being generous to your feelings here). 😂
If he goes to the Mets, and the Polar Bear goes back as well, then both of them AND Soto will be competing for DH in the future. Tough.
53% tax rate in Toronto brutal cold winters. Why would a Dominican want to live there?
No. Not true.
Let's Go Vlad and Let's Go Mets!
$340 is a great offer...he may regret this
Same way Soto regrets rejecting 400m from Nats couple years ago?
340 now is not enough. he will not take under 400 and may want closer to 500, jays may have had him accept 340 a couple of years ago, but not now.
He will get more.
@johnsummerhill8323 it's a gamble
@@mattsbjjjourney5601 I think he will get offered $400 to $450 by the Jays . Over 10 years. If he still won't sign, then a trade will have to be made. And that is not good. I don't blame Jays management. But the salaries are getting stupid and the competitiveness of all major league baseball is going to be totally imbalanced.
Didn't Vladdy say he wants to stay in Toronto? If he goes to the Mets they will need a 1B soon because him and Soto will be a DH soon enough.
I believe he wants to join Soto! He will get a huge contract with the Mets next year.
You think he wants a Soto type contract, or wants to join him on the Mets?
He will be a MET!!!!!❤❤❤❤
Not judging - I love Vladdy but the Jays are willing to offer Soto $700 + no wonder why Vladdy turned it down. That’s a massive non offer! Trade him … the Jays mgt is a f’n joke.
Go get em uncle Stevie
340 for a 26 year old , your franchise player . That is disrespectful. He gone
Like this is a surprise. They could have extended both Vlad and Bo years ago and yet did not even bother. Meanwhile what did AA did in Atl? He pretty much extended most of core young players including Acuna to insanely cheap extensions.... Rogers need to realize what they have done wrong since AA walked out... just get rid of the current front office and trade Vlad and Bo to at least get some prospects as they will for sure walk out via FA... at least realize that it's too late and start rebuild...
If he rejected the contract offer you can probably kiss Teo good bye ! ! !
Jim would trade Vlady before the season starts so you could get the best potential for him
If Vladdy leaves after next season they deserve it they haven't been able to accomplish enough to support him
Welcome to the Mets
It is time for the Jays to get their act together!!! They have made a bid mistake with Jr!!! They better get their head out of their ass and start turning it around. Jr is not coming back, he is going to be a Met!!!!
This management team shouldn't be allowed to trade Vlad or Bo. They had 10 years to do a rebuild and failed so wny tf do they get to start the process of a second rebuild? Get rid of these clowns already
Pretty soon second basemen hitting 7 home runs a year will be making 50 million a year
He’s going to be a Met. The question becomes Does Toronto trade him and get some type of return or do they just let him walk and get QO comp pick(s).
Why do you say he’ll be a Met?
He'll be playing for the Mets when hits free agency.Whoever trades for him He'll be an 1 yr rental.😂😂😂
Why the Mets?
