Appreciate the video. Would have helped if the labels weren’t so large and getting in the way of comparison, but appreciate having the various ones represented. Thanks much!

Thank you so much! I love this addon aswell and New Zealand has really been a tough one for me. Bing has low resolution, but the color is quite pleasing in most parts, but also has some extremly weird stuff. Google Maps is honestly just borked and not usuable. When i looked at ArcGIS, it looked so different that i just ruled it out without second thought. Now that someone who knows how it should look, saying it looks more real, its really valuable information.
The rule of thumb in general though is basically that google is king in resolution and striking color, Bing can be very consistently great, in terms of color and resolution, and in places where google has a lot of color changes and where the color is off, Bing is also great to use in the summer i think, because the colors are more appropiate and indicative of dry fields etc., whereas google is great in the colder/wetter months with its dark green, the other options really are wildcards and perfect in places like New Zealand or parts of the world where the others are obviously not really trying as hard.
It does take more time to make sure which service is the right, but at the end you have the most fitting and for you best looking image available.

Thanks mate. Yes it really is just a matter of trying them in different areas and seeing how they look. Arcgis is washed out in some areas but where it is right it changes the sim to a far more realistic look than any other, and the clarity of seeing rock faces and bushes on the ground without the huge dark black shadow areas is great. For long distance flying at high altitude the default bing would be the most realistic without the tile changes but when low level and not as obvious to cross tiles it's a vfr pilots dream.

Great Video, it’s a shame GEP is so blue because the resolution on some of those mountain ridges is clearly better than the other sources

Yeah I think you can play with the hue settings on the fly with it and change it abit. Works quite well but it's not worth paying for the pro version for NZ at least anyway. The free is more than good enough in the good arcgis areas as the details are great.

It hjgly depend where you fly vfr. I wasbused to do orthophoto with ortho4xp for XP11. Goggle are winter texture, better resolution but not overall. In most populated area (USA and west Europe) is generally better quality but are winter texture. Bing is mostly sommer texture. In remote area like Alaska I prefer Bing, much better then Goggle. There isvnot a proper answer. Personally I prefer the Bing sommer texture. I know nanybpeopke saying that the Goggle mod give problems here and there, no idea if it is true or simmers fantasy.

Wonder if it is worth tuning the colour in Arcgis using the app. Where did you get the huts mate?

Can you tune the color in the app? I'll look into that. The huts are just part of NZ back country huts I make and release on my website due to the fact I love flying the challenging approaches to the huts and helipads in the back country in the sim. Build my own as there's nothing quite like it out there for New Zealand dedicated to helicopter Simming. Also add airstrips in where I find them too.

Nice video mate. I don’t use msfs but how much storage space do these use up😮

Thanks. They just stream in as you fly. Literally just start the app which is just a small app to run the software that injects the streamed aerial images into the sim. So simple to use and is alot less space intensive than the orth4xp way on xplane which requires tons of space.

Wow that’s awesome. In my opinion the Arcgis is probably the best.

Yeah mate it's hard to show on screen but in VR the arcgis stuff is so much better in certain areas. The clarity and the color is just like really being there.
