It's hard to imagine the strength of snakes if you haven't met or handled one, but look at how hard Steve has to push the snake aside- and he's a very fit and strong man.
It takes approximately 3-4 people to handle the largest snake in the world. 2 people max for this guy

I’m now broadcasting from the inside of the snake. The digestive powers of this snake are incredible. I can actually feel my feet slothing away. It’s a bit tight in here with both camera men in here with me, but this is the best way to get an amazing shot. Wait... I think I’m being pooped out of him now. Yes, I’m now a pile of poo. If you look closely you can still see my dimples. This is fascinating.

For those curious, constrictors only constrict after they bite. They will strike, hold on, and coil. In this case when the snake is not biting, it’s only constricting as a defensive response to be choked itself

There is another video here on youtube that proves you wrong. A man was choked to death/broken neck without being biten by a boa.
@@lykedady72Snakes use a lot of energy for that and they wont waste it for just killing randomly without eating. In this case she is choking because she is getting choked. There is no boa sneaking up on you and constricting you out of fun. These things save their energy

What is interesting is that the Boa can kill preys that are technically much stronger than humans in all aspects, pure strength, speed. However, due to our bipedal posture, we have two quite capable free arms each one with an inverted finger facing the other four. Since the Boa relies more on time applied pressure than pure strength for instant kill, Steve is able to let himself get caught and still fight off of this deadly lock without much issue. Any four legged animal is completely helpless in the same situation, even if 3 times stronger than man.
Maybe so, but I think he's mad to gamble his life on being able to use this to free himself. What if he'd found that the boa constrictor was stronger than he was counting on? I suppose the camera man and sound man would drop their gear and go to his aid - but it's all a bit close for comfort, surely.
Still, it would have been interesting to see how he freed himself from this snake which he allowed to come so close to killing him.

And consider this snake has a massive non poisonous bite. That scares the victim, and they breath faster and shallower. So they usually will pass out soon enough...

it's actually around the ribcage that they perform that action. Around the neck as you breath in and out there's no difference in displacement, where as where the lungs are there is. That doesn't mean that on some animals it might be able to squeeze hard enough to block the carotid artery, but it takes much less energy to tighten the coils around the lungs after each exhale.
+etmax1 This is exactly what I was going to write. Constrictors usually wrap themselves round animals' chests and then do as Steve describes i.e. slowly tightening their grip each time the animal breathes out.
I imagine wind instrument players would be better at this as we (I play the flute) can breathe using our diaphrams rather than our chests. I don't think I'll test that theory though.

There's been some new research on constriction in the past couple of years: Constrictors don't suffocate their prey. It's been noted, that the prey dies way too quickly for it to be from asphyxiation. What actually happens is that the constriction basically shuts off blood circulatiom and increasea blood pressure, inducing a cardiac arrest. (Source: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constriction)
The phenomenon shown here is not constriction. The snake is simply trying to hold on to something and the effect of tightening during exhalation is simply a side effect.
Am I alone in noticing that the "boa" in this clip has the typical markings and head shape of an anaconda?
