OK, lets correct some info: Not billions but millions of tons. Tilapia is served grilled , cooked and fried but not in feijoada, that contains various kind of pork meats. There is a new kind of fish , native from Amazonian region, that has "invaded" many rivers down south in Brazil, and could be more profitable then tilapia: its called PIRARUCU, its a giant, the biggest fish from fresh water rivers, nice meat and grow very quickly, up to 200 kgs !! The only problem is, this fish consume a lot of food, can eat 10kgs a day. So, they are trying to grow it up to 6 months and harvest it, averaging 20/40 kgs !!

in some countries this fish is considered a pest, so actually this is a matter of perspective and definition of something, poor people think this fish is a pest, this fish is delicious and has enough protein, hahaha

I won't lie, tilapia is a cheap fish and very popular among lower-income people in developing countries, including my own. However, I find it to be the most bland and tasteless fish I've ever eaten.
