Years ago here on opposite side of the tracks there were a bunch of flats built. The agent told me that the end one overlooked this area and he never expected it to sell. Was the first one to go - to an avid train spotter who couldn't wait to move in and watch the trains in the yard and the through traffic into York station.
I bought a new Bungalow next to Chester-Le-Street station way back in 1995, paid buttons for it, it looked onto the ECML, I didn't give a fuck, I was train driver then, we bought the first one on the block that looked onto the railway as they weren't selling at all, we got a discount, loads of extras form the builder, first weekend in the house a huge engineering job right outside my bedroom windows, bridge renewal, I slept like a log, neighbours going bezerk, great days, being a keen railwayman/fan, living next to the railway is the best, I remember your flats going up.
@@kevinbaird7277 The day someone starts messing with the jammie dodger will be a sad one. I live close to the line that feeds Shotton, steel passes twice a day but the type 37 Deltics have been replaced with DB engine's....not good.....I miss the chug if those Deltics pulling 1000tonnes,but if there're not rolling, then industry is NOT rolling. Gov't need a buy british ethos in all departments.
Hi Daniel. A Great Video Mate. I've Done A Few Videos Of Locos In Different Parts Of East Anglia. Keep Up The Good Work Mate. 10 Out Of 10 For Your Video.🙂
this makes no sense. The young woman is totally in favour of railfreight. And it's right that diesel is retired to support roles as here. Electric rail is nowhere near as exciting but it's better for everyone, if the power is produced cleanly, as it is increasingly so.
Proper sounding locos pulling ying ying sounding sheds . Brilliant locos 37s. Still got it after all these years. Great video

@Brentley Kian shut it bot
@@paulpugh5315 A year on and nobody has informed you that they weren't "Deltics"?
The class 37s are something else when heard in person! Amazing machines!!!
I could not say it better myself 👍👏
Pleasing to see a class 37 “Old Timer” to the rescue of modern stuff.
Always nice to see a classic out and about
Class 37 any day
Nice video of the tractors pulling scrap about lol 😅😄😅
If a car ran as well after 6 million miles and 50 years of abuse it would be a miracle
Cool 37.... shame the modern washing machine is stuck on the rear
These are amazing & such a distinctive hum & they are the king of the railway! 🇬🇧👍🙏
Very nice capture mate cheers Steve ..
My favourite diesel class 37,got character and nice engine note, unlike the 66s
The 66 is my favourite diesel but I do love the 37's :)
Yup, it's a lovely clatter not that I don't enjoy listening to a 66 spool up but they smell like burning plastic.
Too right, 66s sound like an angry wasps nest in a tin shed!
and we are off 😊 50 yrs old and still going strong
Closer to 60: the last 37s were built in 1965.
Now that’s what I call a 37 brilliant video mate
Cracking and lucky bit of filming..
Great vid 716 thrashing well there to
Nice capture!
Excellent footage mate 👍👍

Typical EE! Network rail appear to have overdone the 'static grass' on this model again?
Best comment I've seen on youtube today.
~ laughs ~
good sound! good smoke!! very nice!!!
what's good about smoke? it's a sign of a sick engine!
@@steveluckhurst2350 sorry,i had thought usually smoking like a steam locomotive.it’s no good if in s sick .
You know youre in york when you pass under holgate bridge. Been under and over that thing many times.
Excellent video 👍👍👍👍
'Clag', a geeky train buffs term for very worn out engine needing re sleeving /pistons /rings/pump/ injectors ect..
Fantastic 👍
Type 37 absolutely defines 'handsome'. The Deltic sound is amazing.
It's not a deltic - the class 55s are the deltics. These are ruston V12 diesels.
One would hope that she was allowed to warm up before setting off.
Oh yeah i cut about 5 mins out of the footage of it ticking over
Takes a 37 to save the day.
I got a good picture of 716 in the engine shed a few weeks ago while I was delivering a overhead crane there
Really nice film wait for the power cuts!!
This is like the Edsel of trains.
Love it!
Love it old 37 pulling something half its age or more

Nice bit of filth being pumped into the air..
That’s like aftershave to real men 😂💪
Can't pull 1000tonnes with solar panel's yet.....steel bashers waiting for Shotton steel to make your next car, fridge freezer, radiator etc etc etc
Music to my ears ! 💕
Bloody hell poor old engine.
Jeez i personally have that engine out and a complete rebuild and kick up the arse the people letting her get in a bloody state.
Awesome video
A bit of weedkiller would make the place a bit less "run down"
The 37s have grass ploughs fitted, so it's all good.
Nothing like a 37 !
Great video thanks very much
Sounds like the handbrake wasn't fully released on the first 66 to leave.
Would love to have startup outside the window of the grunta thingburger child :)

Grunta needs a bigger smokestack..like a coal burning loco from covidland
Class 37s the best 👌
Stunning perfection.
buen video saludos desde Guatemala les pido que mas class 37 clag es mi tren favorito
Трактора, наши ТЭМ1 по звуку напоминает, и ЧМЭ2
How much grass?!
You can’t beat a 37 with COPD. LOL
Very nice. Subscribed.
Those sidings need the grass cut lol
go fast
Meanwhile in Volkswagen's emission lab, another pass. 😂
Great video and hellfire 37’s
