I remember the Scottish cup final in 1991 where Motherwell were playing against Dundee United. Motherwell won 4/3 after extra time. The interesting thing is that the 2 teams were managed by 2 brothers. Motherwell was managed by Tommy Mclean and Dundee united by jim mclean. Davie Cooper was playing for Motherwell.
Davie Cooper was an amazing player. Could do anything with a ball. Literally anything. There are 60, 70, 80 million pound players today that couldn't lace his boots. The Dutch legend Ruud Gullit said he was one of the best players he ever saw and he played with Cruyff, Maldini, Baresi, Van Basten etc.
Eddy Phil O’Donnell played for Celtic & Motherwell , He died after suffering cardiac arrest while playing for Motherwell against Dundee United on 29 December 2007, aged 35. 😢🍀 R.I.P Phil 🍀GBNF 🙏🏻
Cumbernauld Dundee Utd die hard here Eddy! My good friend Roy is a Well fan! That Cup Final of 91 went down as the best Final in Scottish Fitba history 🤮🍻
Davie Cooper was a local professional footballer who played for Rangers. He tragically died of a brain haemorrhage at Broadwood stadium in Cumbernauld, at the age of 39 in 1995.
You'll find Davie Cooper memorials or monuments at Motherwell, Rangers and Clydebank. You went to Clydebank, and Yoker, but probably didn't realise there was a stadium just two minutes down the road when you went to Yoker. Clydebank and Yoker actually share the stadium right on the border of Yoker and Clydebank. Straight down Dumbarton Road where you were.
