Recently Coldplay made 4 consecutive concerts in my country Portugal... i think that they cold made 400 more that Alchemy will put them in the smallest pocket of DS pants. True musicians in a live concert that sounds better than studio version... what an experience, once they get start you wish it never ends. This kind of old school chemical sound is pure talent that remains forever and can not be reply for nowdays digital self made bands that have lots of visual effects but no soul in intrumental an lyricks composition. Thanks Dire Straits for given to the world real music played by real and talented men that will prevails forever touching our souls with such finest melody.

The repertoire of Mark is sensational, amazing. He's a 🎸 grand master!. I saw him after the group dissolved in Buenos Aires April 6th 2001, Luna park Stadium. Unforgettable concert. The journal's criticism caliphs with 10 points both concerts. In Latin America 10 is like 100 points of other countries. I remember when he said after finished " private investigation" Thank youuuuuuuu, like alchemy's concert, he's played sultans of swing, the public stand up, pure extasis. Mark's improvisation, repertoire, he's unique.
La migliore esecuzione. Non capisco come mai in studio non sono riusciti a togliere quel disturbo in sottofondo che si sente dal primo minuto, che si avverte molto al minuto 1.45 con l'assolo di chitarra. Pensavo fosse il file caricato su UA-cam ad essere rovinato, invece è così anche nel disco originale. Peccato davvero, quel ronzio rovina un esecuzione superlativa.... Straordinaria...la migliore in assoluto.

I did ask john the bassist. I was at a concert of him. I asked him why didnt, actually i bagged him to come together. His response was that mark didnt want that. Mark didnt want to do big concerts.. I asked John to ask mark again.. :-)
I have listened Dire Straits since 1990, and last year I finally went to Mark Knopflers concert in Ljubljana. This was last song. It was OK, but far from what Dire Straits use to be.

This was the last song at my father's funeral 12 years ago and I still get goose bumps and tears now listening to it, this album is a masterpiece.
