This group lives what they sing. In 1981 I seen them in concert. I fell in love with music of this sort. The only thing that I ever folled thru on was learning to play the mandolin and it was because of Norman wilson.

My Granny went home to be with Lord after 95 years in February. The Primitives were always one of her favorites and you could count on one of the Spencers, Mckameys or the Primitives cassettes to be playing when you walked into her kitchen whenever she was cooking. It didn't matter the time of day or the day of the week, she was cooking all the time. If she wasn't cooking breakfast, lunch or dinner for some of us, she was cooking for a church potluck or making one of her scrumptious cakes for a church cake walk or making 500 of her famous fried pies to sell to raise money for the new church fellowship hall, even though she'd whisper to you they weren't worth the 2$ the ladies group wanted to charge for them---she didn't want money to be the reason someone couldn't enjoy them but she was mighty proud they'd sell out in twenty minutes flat even at that "inflated price" of her delivering them to the church. The night she left us she told us she'd be waiting for us, because she was ready to go home and the only thing she wanted was for us to stay in church. At the time when she passed it was a shock to us all, as she'd really had no major long term illnesses. Looking back to that night to where we are now, I know it was the Lord's plan. The thing she cherished more than anything was her family, her kids, us grandkids, the great grandkids, the great great grandkids and the handful of new great great great grandchildren. She loved for all 132 (when possible) of us to gather together for fellowship and food (we're an eating family, I'm pretty sure it's the south in us), and before all the mess with this virus erupted we all got to gather for three more days with her to see her home, complete with a dinner at the new church fellowship hall that would have made her proud---standing room only. That wouldn't have been possible if the Lord had waited a few extra weeks. I can't listen to this song without crying and thinking about her, but then I know she'll be waiting for me when it gets time for me to go home and that does make it a little bit better.
This was a blessing to have read this. I was crying the whole time I was reading this because I can relate to almost the same story with my parents. Thanks for sharing this.
