Listening to this one again in February 2021 and being blessed by it. Somewhere, Jim Hammel is looking down from Heaven with a big ol' smile as he worships Jesus around the throne!
So many passed him daily as he sat there begging alms, Oh Lazarus, oh Lazarus, that poor soul, Not one single penny did they place in Lazarus' palm, But Lazarus wasn't begging when he reached his final home; I wish I could have watched him as he spanned sweet Jordan's tide, And seen him as he entered Heaven's bliss, I'd love to ask him questions as the gates swing open wide, I can almost hear him answer as I ask him things like this. (Where are you now?) I'm crossing Jordan as my loved ones wave me over, (What do you hear?) I hear the saints all singing praises to The Lamb, (Whadya see?) Why, it's my Lord I see the great, great God Jehovah, Are ya home now? Yes I am, I'm finally home, I see my Lord, He's here to meet me, Yes I am, oh Yes I am. Just like dear old Lazarus I laid outside the gate, Longing for sweet comfort for my soul, But then the Lord had mercy and now I too can celebrate, I'll run the streets of glory with old Lazarus soon I know. (Where are you now?) I'm with the saints of Heaven, listening to the stories, (What do you hear?) Sweet welcome music from that great homecoming band, (Whadya see?) I see my mansion in its splendor, in its glory, Are ya home now? Yes I am, I'm finally home, I see my Lord, He's here to meet me, Yes I am, oh Yes I am. Are ya home now? Yes I am, I'm finally home, I see my Lord, He's here to meet me, Yes I am, oh Yes I am.
I have loved the Kingsmen Quartet since 1964 when they were mostly a southeastern USA group. I saw them in Gainesville GA at the Civic Building and became an immediate fan. I am proud that Ray Dean is still carrying on the group. Many of the singers through the years have moved on to singing in Heaven. I look forward to the time when I will see them all again singing, playing and praising God in Heaven. Ray, I remember when you came with the group and you always recognized my husband and me every time we came to see you. My husband is listening to the ones who have gone on, and I envy him. I will see you all in a little while. In the meantime may God richly bless you all in the new group. Elaine Hill, formerly of Gainesville, GA.
I saw the Kingsmen during the Parker Johnathon and Tim Lovelace era Jim Hamil and Eldridge Fox still were traveling part time but neither were there that night, my friend and I were early and as we walked in Ray Reese was setting up the record sales area we spoke to him and after a little small talk he asked if we would help him move a couple of tables I enjoy that memory because it is the closest I have ever been to having a job with a gospel quartet
I was in the convention hall that night and I could not have been more blessed. This group is one of the best in southern gospel music today. I can't wait to be at convention 2017.
YES I AM!!!! PRAISE THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY. OUR LOVING LIVING GOD’S PERFECT PLAN. Why slap my knee and do a jig, lol. Amen, in LORD JESUS NAME AND AMEN.♥️♥️♥️♥️🙏😇👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
@@retiredbob Reese and Sumner are both excellent but also of very different styles and were mostly with groups from different ends of the traditional Southern gospel spectrum I don't disagree with putting either in the top spot though I am partial to Ed O'neal myself
Wondering if anyone knows the names of the Lead and Baritone singers? I now know who the Tenor is, Allen Kendall, thanks to an informant in the comments below, and everyone knows who the bass is, Ray Deen Reese. He's some kind of super glue isn't he! Last of the original Kingsmen left standing! I liked the way Big Jim Hammell would always introduce everyone on stage. It was also a hoot watching him ride herd on Squeeky and especially the teen aged piano virtuoso, Anthony Burger, may they rest in peace. We'll all be Home soon and enjoying them all over again!
