    Really loved how Jupiter itself was the main antagonist in this film. There were no alien invasions or even asteroids that was the world-ending threat this time, but an actual planet itself, with its very gravity affecting the tectonic plates and atmosphere of Earth. Which it would make sense that gravitational spikes from Jupiter would affect Earth to a devastating degree in the beginning, for Earth no longer has a balanced gravitational force since it is no longer at its original position from the sun. Since Jupiter is bigger than the Earth, thus having a similar gravitational pull of the sun, it would make sense for why Earth was being pulled to Jupiter once most of the engines were down despite still being far away.
    It was the principles of gravity and the unpredictable nature of space itself that was against Earth and humanity itself in this film, making the stakes for their survival feel ever more impossible than any other film, which makes their eventual survival against the Jupiter crisis and their hope to continue fighting against the impossible odds be ever more utterly beautiful to me.
    This is why Wandering Earth is one of my favorite films and stories, for its story concept is "original" and follows certain themes that are in itself beautiful and intriguing. It makes me wish the story of Wandering Earth would continue, displaying different stories on what happens during each stage of the Wandering Earth Project before and after the Jupiter Crisis.

      indeed, Jupiter relation with Earth is a very special one. its existence attract incoming asteroid and trap them in its trojan belt. creating a stable environment for earth and making world ending asteroid like those that hit the dinosaur rare enough for humanity to be born...

      @@ZeNo_. Yeah, I don't really like what they did to MOSS. In the first movie, it just seemed like an overly protocol-based AI, like Auto from Wall-E, the reasoning behind its actions were predetermined agreements and calculations, a nice rendition of AI as antagonist thing. He didn't do anything wrong, just running its program.
      But after the second movie, it just turned into a generic AI with 'Human bad, Human need die' philosophy

Transferring this large object probably around 10^15 tons will require massive energy not possible with mass avaiable on earth. IF take out this, this movie was brilliant

    • @chaseg8888
      @chaseg8888 Рік тому +7

      @@cyc20976 Are you a Physicist ? total mass is lost when fusion happens becacause process of fusion itself gives off lots of energy. So when two H atoms combine their mass(in this case helium) will be less than sum of mass of 2 H atoms seperately. This is becasue some of the mass is lost as energy in fusion process. You will be keep on losing mass in that process. Just remember first law of thermodynamics. nothing is free in nature. you will lose some to gain something else.

      The plot point about changing Earth's trajectory by igniting the two planets' atmospheres wouldn't work. Even if all of Earth's oxygen was ignited in the explosive reaction, and all of the energy from the reaction went into kinetic energy applied to Earth, it wouldn't be enough to change Earth's path enough. I haven't done the math to confirm this, but it seems like a reasonable assumption considering that Earth's mass is over a million times that of it's entire atmosphere.

    I love this movie, but only when I throw all logic and physics out the window while watching it. Lol In all reality of earth got that close to Jupiter the Roche limit woulda torn earth a part. There would be no saving earth if it got that close and even if they weren’t the radiation from the gas giant would’ve killed everything else that wasn’t underground, in a radiation suit or a vehicle built to withstand that amount of radiation from the planet. :) again great movie just horrible unrealistic:)

      @@erozionzeall6371 did you not read the rest? I said even if it wasn’t close to the Roche limit the radiation from the planet would’ve killed everything else. And it didn’t look like they were wearing space suits that could TEMPORARILY block out any radiation, watch the move Europa it’s much more accurate when it comes to how long it would take to get to Jupiter and how long you could stand on the moon before radiation from Jupiter leaks into the suit. There a lot more factors that make Wondering Earth more fiction than science.
