Really loved how Jupiter itself was the main antagonist in this film. There were no alien invasions or even asteroids that was the world-ending threat this time, but an actual planet itself, with its very gravity affecting the tectonic plates and atmosphere of Earth. Which it would make sense that gravitational spikes from Jupiter would affect Earth to a devastating degree in the beginning, for Earth no longer has a balanced gravitational force since it is no longer at its original position from the sun. Since Jupiter is bigger than the Earth, thus having a similar gravitational pull of the sun, it would make sense for why Earth was being pulled to Jupiter once most of the engines were down despite still being far away. It was the principles of gravity and the unpredictable nature of space itself that was against Earth and humanity itself in this film, making the stakes for their survival feel ever more impossible than any other film, which makes their eventual survival against the Jupiter crisis and their hope to continue fighting against the impossible odds be ever more utterly beautiful to me. This is why Wandering Earth is one of my favorite films and stories, for its story concept is "original" and follows certain themes that are in itself beautiful and intriguing. It makes me wish the story of Wandering Earth would continue, displaying different stories on what happens during each stage of the Wandering Earth Project before and after the Jupiter Crisis.
