The cat is saying "Hitachi is the Cat's Meow!" "Pink crystal" is infrared emitter LED for the tape end sensors which tell the machine to shut off at the end of the tape. I can’t remember what model of Hitachi I had but I think you pulled a small drawer out and I had to press buttons to set the timer to record.

Hi I bought my very first Video recorder which was an Hitachi in 1980 2 Days after John Lennon was killed so I could record the programs about him,I found the Timer was very complicated with this machine,the best dvd recorder I ever owned was a Pioneer.

Oh I’m 67 now I was born in 1957 my best dvd recorder was the Pioneer 530H and I loved my Mitsubishi M1000 Super Vhs Recorder.
