Replacing the Hood Release on a Honda Element

I broke the hood release handle on my wife's 2006 #Honda #Element. Oops. So I made a replacement out of some scrap walnut. Then I painted the walnut, to match the rest of the car's interior blue. Also, because why not cover up that ugly brown color, right?
With how this broke, it was a pretty straightforward repair. I am not confident enough to attempt many #CarRepairs, but this one is easy peasy.

I actually had some of that on hand, could have gone that way too. But it never crossed my mind. Oh well, blue is fine. It's functional, and that's really the most important thing.
