Now if only we could end planned obsolescence, and start building products that last, instead of endlessly building and in most cases throwing away things that should last lifetimes.
The world should work this way but corporations care about profit and only that. My suggestion is try and build as much of your own stuff as you can that way it’s sturdy as you need it and it’s cheaper and it lasts longer and you’ll develop or improve some valuable skills
@@TristanKoehler-l4s that’s a good bandaid, but what we really need is systematic change to encourage better behavior from those who create. No more profit motive, at least it should not be the only motive.
Very cool. I make good money picking up scrap metal and bringing it to my local scrap yard. I've often wondered how they separate intertwined metals like aluminum and steel when they are cast together. Now I have an answer. This was great to watch and makes me feel good that I am part of helping reduce damage to the environment by scrapping.
Thank you. Very informative. I sold few years ago about 1200 kg different kind of metals. I bought an old farm and there was plenty of trash. Mainly iron. Even rusty items were accepted. The representative of the company told that they deliver metals mainly to Turkey! My old metal items might be now steel somewhere in Turkey? They told that the copper has now a good price/kg. It is great that they will recycle metals so well. Saves nature.
It must be part time work because it's hard for me to believe that they had that many refrigerators coming in every week in England. That was mean that every household buy a refrigerator once a week.
Weird, here in NZ we just take the fridges/freezers to the scrap yard and get paid per the kg - depends on the market, anywhere from 6c/kg up to 15c/kg. They don't degas them or separate the plastic etc it just goes into their containers/trucks as mixed lowgrade metals and shipped off to the recycling places that further recycle it down to be made into new products. I have not yet heard of any scrap yard that wont take them. And no laws in NZ that prohibits it. Its not "legal" as such to let the CFC gases out but they are in damn near everything so you cant really police it.
Depends on the scrap yard, in California, we can sell whole fridges as light iron, but my yard separates them out of the light iron pile so they can recycle them separately, probably to recover freon and compressors for resale.
Hello sir, how are you, I hope you are all fine, my name is Muhammad Waqas and I am working in Pakistan. I am very polite to the manager of my company. I want to work in your company. Please give me a chance. thank you very much
Informative, thank you. Is there any information from the pre-waste supply chain that you don't currently have that might help with further investment and innovation?

I amWith you on this statement
Could actually put a dent in the destruction of our countries of our planet apparently caused by constant "demand"

Amen to that , when he said average 10-15k on a weekly basis 😮 that was my initial thoughts! Madness

When they cut the compressor out doesn't that release the CFC?
An excellent explanation of recycling outdated household refrigerators. Thank you!
np thanks for the feedback

1:05 Im sure someone drew a Y on the end of that sign :-P It then seems to have been hit.
Workplace shenanigans 🤣
I wonder if they hit it when they found out a video was gonna be made
Love this. Steel and ironworks are such an integral part of modern society and this is such a necessary part of that lifecycle. Much appreciated all!
So uhh, this video about fridges is how you recycle metal generally?
Uhhh, it's about how they recycle fridges and freezers, the components and chemicals and the impact on the environment.
That eddy current step where the other metals and plastic get separated is amazing
Does anyone know what happens to the gases once they’ve been turned liquid with the liquid nitrogen??
No I don't.
At 4:32 they say that the CFC gases are sent for incineration.
@@TheTrainWatch This. Who knows what sort of gas it produces during incineration.

"what do you do for a job?" oh you know, I manually feed old recycled refrigerators through a conveyor belt.
Lol gotta love it.
This is how to recycle refrigerators not metal
1:08 tell me that’s not morgz mum...
Great explanation. The music also had me thinking I was playing a game while watching. SWTOR perhaps.
Informative. Thanks!

Interesting presentation. What is he calling a "screw"? A conveyer?
Yeah I pictured an archimedes screw before the graphic showed there was a belt inside
Which cross cut grinder is being used here?
I really want to know for a personal project
It's just fridges. FRIDGES!!!!!!!!!!! They recycle more than that!!!
Very interesting and informative. Thanks for the video. I would love to see a longer, more in depth video of the process
No recycling of the plastic powder..its a big problem that one. A lot of bags, more to come..
These guys shred then separate.
Pakistanis separate then shred.
I used this with my home work
They could record the voice separately, pathetic.
Amazing! Hope to cooperate with you!
baler,shear,shredder for scrap metal
Great video! It all makes sense how this is done
Anything & Everything I learn about metal, scrap etc is worth knowing. Even if I'm trying to find something specific. Thx!

My fridge still works.

The liquid nitrogen, and drying, seem so energy-intensive that I wonder if the net gain is worth it?
I just god a brilliant idea! WHY NOT REPAIR OLD FRIDGES INSTEAD OF DESTROYING THEM AND REBUILDING
Because planned obsolescence makes corporations lots of money
Capitalism incentivizes the wrong things.
i like this one
Nice video Maestro
This was actually very interesting to see.
foam into land fill boooo, turn into insulation for all houses, sheads etc...
Good luck with that.
Good riddance to the bastard things.
