It's surreal seeing most of this mall empty, i remember it being vibrant and full of life in the 00s and barely a decade ago in the early / mid 2010s. We would take my mom here sometimes for her birthday, shop a bit and watch a movie. I know dead malls are a meme now but it hits different when it is one you have been at lots of times. I'm truly shocked, the inside still looks very clean and it's in a highly populated area, most of these videos involve delapidated looking buildings and insides that clearly need maintenance, this place still looks fine, just ...abandoned. Thanks for the video!

I have visited this mall a few times. Christmas season looks more like a normal day in busier malls. Food court is solid though.

Used to go there 35 years ago prior to the opening of the freehold Mall.. so sad

very well made. I absolutely hate going to malls but there is something... sad about seeing an empty mall or any abandoned place. Haunted by memories rather than ghosts. That feeling was increased exponentially with the old photos juxtaposed

I remember shopping here in the late 70s and early 80s, the mall was always crowded....

very good video. this does make me sad this was the mall of my childhood between there and seaview square down the highway in ocean twp while living in freehold since raceway mall wasn't built for another decade while I grew up there in the 1980's

If you’re a GenXer you know things aren’t the same as we know it. Malls were a part of our youth. Always busy and full of people. To see this and other malls disappear you know something has changed and not for the better.

I’ve spend many summers in the area. Many great memories. Unfortunately there is always turn over of restaurants and stores not only in the mall but in the surrounding areas over the years. It really sad to see what the area has become. Although there is much new developments it’s bitter sweet. Kushner owns the mall as well as Pier Village

I was at Monmouth Mall earlier today, to kill time while visiting Eatontown. Very disappointing place. Only cool store is a spiritual store that sells Eastern stuff.

Surprised Macy's is still open, considering how HORRENDOUS their customer service and employees are.

Back in the 80s when I was a teen Macys service was excellent. They actually hired people who cared. It will be a sad day when Macys goes out of business like Sears.

@@map3384 I worked at Macy's late '80s until the early '90s at a mall not too far from this one - I was in college.. I thought it was a pretty great place to work.
