as someone who grew up plus size and lost the weight, one of the biggest changes I saw was how differently I was treated after weight loss.
I was immediately met with praise and encouragement and compliments for my looks, being told I "look better" thin, and it was a huge parallel to growing up with constant bullying and degrading for my body. skinny privilege is VERY real, and the struggle of being a big person in the past feels invalidated once you're finally no longer big.

Fr, i lost a lot of weight, and now the same people who told me to lose it are telling me i need to gain. which really fucks with my head because when i was bigger i dreamed of people saying that to me, now it just feels sick and guilty that i thought that way and that other people are still dealing with that

i’m plus sized and i thrift fairly often. but also i NEVER get pants. i got my favorite overcoat ever by thrifting. it probably largely depends on style and location
something that can be considered both the good and the bad thing is that plus size clothes are becoming trendy for even people who are not plus size to wear, so they're popping up more often in thrift shops but they're also being bought out by people who don't need them and are not plus sized.
Idk, most of the clothes at my goodwill are really large.

My weight has fluctuated so much my entire life. I was always a heavy child. People pointed it out, often. So I lost weight, unhealthily, and for 3 years I was thin. I was still unhappy. I hit high school and got to my biggest right before I graduated. I lost the weight again, unhealthily, and guess what? I still don’t like how I look. I don’t even think if I did do it the 100% right way and worked hard at the gym that I’d like the way I look. Both being plus-size and EDs run in my family. I’m sharing this as a cautionary tale. If you are plus size and working on losing the weight, please also go to therapy. And if you’re not working on losing the weight and are content with your size, still seek therapy. There’s deep mental scars that come from years of name calling and being treated less than human just because of your size. Be kind and gentle with yourself.

I'm a trans male and I've always had issues with my body, since I was like 11 years old. At the age of 11 to like 15 I was plus sized, I was wearing a large in juniors clothing around that age, I was never really below like 150 to 170. I know for a kid that young that is considered "big". I was bullied for my weight before and it really does suck. I'm now 24 and have been between like 220 to 236, I have been losing weight slowly so I am now 214 but I'm also short so when I gain weight it really shows on my body that I got bigger. It is harder to find clothing that fits, other than Walmart or Old Navy I don't usually find my size in stores at the mall. I also have issues with pain, I have Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, and Severe nerve damage in my left hand so trying to work out or just take my dog for a walk can be a struggle, I appreciate that Jake is trying to raise money for disabled people, its shows that there's still people in the world who care.
