I feel for you man, I interviewed with Amazon during an AWS outage so I couldn't even check my coding results during the test and then the recruiter kept bothering me and telling me how I should be an ideal hire but then not letting me retake the test and just rejecting me. These big companies suck at seeing people as actual people, and I'm sorry to hear you got railroaded like that. The great news is your only a sophomore and you got a great mindset!
Great video man, love seeing the insight into how these companies run their interview process. I'm an EE major with a hardware focus and I've only had one coding interview in my life (that I failed miserably), so I'll probably never apply to any software positions again, but it's crazy to see how many technical interviews CS majors have to deal with. Kind of makes me glad I chose the path I did, although FAANG pay is something I'll always envy lol.
Hey bro I got rejected for their summer internship when I interviewed in Dec 2020. I'm pretty sure it was mainly because I kept getting stuck with both technical interviewers, especially with the second one since I only coded empty for loops. It was a graph problem that was somewhat tough in general. I hope eventually FAANG adopts a better technical interview strategy soon, especially for frontend positions.
dont worry too much, learn from what happen, what you did wrong or mess up.. do up a list of what you need to do to improve and a list of what not to do.. there will be interview that you want so badly but you can mess it up during the interview, sometime its at moment thingy which you cant control.. sometime it could be you know your stuff but the company dont have the placement for you (it happen to be before, reply 2 week later with another opening within the same company. but sad to say i already found a job by then.)
Rejection builds character.
