Great job on your research! One really fun memory for me…I was fortunate enough to be part of his modeling entourage when he came to Chicago many years ago, to launch his fragrance “KL” . It was so much being a part of it all! We all drove in limousines going from store to store. He was actually very charming as well as very generous to us. I loved the fragrance very much..and the bottle was gorgeous…in cut crystal with a gold fan shaped top. Beautiful ancillary products..shimmery body powder, body crème and lotion.
Those were great times, you don’t see those types of beauty or fragrance launches anymore!

This was so informative, insightful and entertaining. I actually liked the fashion from Karl’s time at Chanel much more than today’s version. Logo was particularly brilliant. I recently watched the 22 spring show and it wasn’t really wearable - it was costume like. I was always amused by Karl’s ‘uniform’ in his heyday. Collars, cuffs and ponytail. But you knew who he was and what he liked. He had a truly unique signature style. You have to admire that. Yay for the cat. The average cat or dog is nicer than the average human. Great job on this biography Allie 😎. Brilliant!

Very interesting and entertaining video. Great to emphasise that Lagerfeld was both a ludicrously talented creator (his drawings and photographs are amazing, never mind his fashion designs) but also a talented businessman. A very unusual combination. I know the Coco myth is monumental but to be honest I think Lagerfeld has been the most important influence for the brand. I love his work with Fendi too.

This is a great video I can tell you did a lot of research and tried to be as respectful as possible, especially given the controversial time period Karl Lagerfeld was born in he was a controversial designer and he offended a lot of people lol 🤣 the only designer I think was more controversial than Karl was my favorite fashion designer Gianni Versace who Karl was actually friends with lol 😂
It's kinda sad tho when Gianni was murdered Karl went to his funeral. 😭
Karl had a very classy sophisticated image due to being at such a high level in the fashion industry (especially because of his decades of designing for Chanel) but he also was I think in his personal life not what people thought he was (as you even pointed out yourself) Karl lied about a lot of things about himself for example he said he was younger than he was when he was actually much older (I think this was because when he was actually middle aged he looked a lot younger due to being in incredible shape I literally thought he was in his late 20s when he was actually about 40 lol 🤣) I don't know if he was still lying about his age back then but if he did he would have definitely convinced me lol 🤣
He was actually a body builder and muscular 😅 and when he was in his prime I think he was a very handsome man 😍
He started to lose his looks only when he started to eat a lot and gain weight due to his depression over the death of his partner but he eventually did lose the weight and was healthy again as an older man he was always very posh and well dressed but I think he never really got over his partner dying of AIDS it was very sad 😭
Apparently Karl and his partner had an open relationship (Karl was basically his sugar daddy he paid for everythingggg including wild sex parties because apparently his partner was into group sex, orgies, and kinky BDSM and shit so Karl was basically dating a Christan Grey type lol 🤣
Which I thought was interesting that Karl would even be attracted to somebody so sexual and wild. (Karl admitted even though he was a fashion person he wasn't a prude so I guess Karl didn't judge him for being promiscuous and basically a sex freak) Karl said he was actually fine with his partner sleeping around he only got jealous when his friend Yves Saint Laurent slept with his partner lol 👀
And that apparently broke up their friendship Yves and Karl stopped being friends after that.
    It's a shame that happened over a man. 🙄
And I think it's crazy how he was upset at his friend Yves for sleeping with his partner but he wasn't upset at his partner for sleeping with his friend Yves. 😒
It seemed like Karl directed all his anger at Yves and just completely forgave his partner (I hate when people blame the other person the partner cheated on them with 😖 instead of blaming the person who actually cheated on them 💀
In my opinion is if Karl's friend Yves was wrong for sleeping with Karl's partner then the partner just as wrong for sleeping with Karl's friend.
But maybe Karl wasn't upset at his partner since he already knew and accepted the fact that his partner was a hoe. 🤣🤣🤣
And maybe he felt like Yves would honor their friendship by not sleeping his his partner (because of the bro code) but I guess Karl underestimated that whole situation.
I just think it's funny how their whole friendship was ruined over that but then neither one had a problem with Karl's partner who was the reason that their friendship was ruined over his over sexual ass lol 🤣
But his partner's promiscuous lifestyle did lead to him catching a disease and passing away 💀
It's interesting Karl or Yves Saint Laurent didn't catch the disease but they both slept with him 😖 so I guess the partner caught it afterwards? 😅 and that's when they both stopped sleeping with him. (Wise decision)
I think it's super sweet that Karl stood by his partner to the very end so I do believe he really loved him. (I'm not sure if Yves Saint Laurent loved him or just saw him as a sex object? since apparently Yves had a partner too that he was also in open relationship with Pierre Berge so I don't know if Yves just slept around but actually only loved Pierre or if he really has feelings for Karl's partner? 💀)
But I read that even before the partner drama Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld would fight over lovers all the time like there was a French model in the 60s named Victoire Doutreleau and apparently they would compete over her too because both apparently had a crush on her 😖 so they would both try to seduce her and Yves also wanted to marry her he did say he was in love with her but it seems like she only saw him and Karl as a male friends who were very generous and give her gifts when actually Yves and Karl were both trying to seduce her in bed lol 🤣
But the funny thing I read was that she didn't sleep with Karl or Yves she actually ended up sleeping with Yves Saint Laurent's partner Pierre Berge and Yves was super jealous and pissed about that lol 🤣
So it's interesting to me that Yves and Karl were love rivals and also fashion rivals it's a shame their friendship was ruined because of it like imagine grown rich men fighting over people lol 🤣 I thought they would be too mature and classy for that but oh well 😅 I think the classiness was something they both had but apparently not when it came to romance, love, or sex they both acted like animals lol 🤣🤣🤣
From what I read Karl did have relationships with both men and women throughout his life but
I think when it comes to his own sexuality he did publicly identify as "gay" even tho it's obvious that wasn't entirely true lol 🤣
Like even you pointed out in this video that Karl literally hired female strippers and porn stars to be in his runway show.
If he was actually "gay" how do you think he was interested in that or even got access to female strippers and porn stars? lol 🤣🤣🤣
Karl clearly was a guy that was into the sex industry (both male and female) I read even his partner was a gigolo lol 🤣 (which explains why he had a promiscuous sex life and it ended with him contracting AIDS because that's usually what happens with prostitutes and gigolos if they aren't careful 😑)
I imagine Karl did go to strip clubs (which is probably where he got the idea to hire strippers because he liked them lol)
And Karl probably found the porn stars from watching porn (which he admitted he watched 😂 I even saw an interview where Karl was scrolling through his phone and apparently it was porn on it lol 🤣 the interviewer said it was hot and he tried to get Karl to show him but Karl kept saying no lol 😂 I did pause it and it was blurry but it looked like straight porn to me - which I don't think a gay person would watch - so I don't think Karl really cared about gender when it came to sex) but he was born in a different time when you didn't discuss your sexuality or your sex life openly so Karl would often lie that him and his partner never had sex even though all his friends said they did and that Karl was lying lol 🤣
I think Karl lied about a lot of things like his age, sexuality, family background, etc so as to try to maintain his privacy.
And probably because he knew the answers to those were not exactly classy lol 🤣🤣🤣
So he was a very intelligent man by choosing to simply hide that information but I think doing research will show the real him.
Also, I'm jealous of his cat he literally left her millions of dollars to the point where when he died they are calling his cat his "widow" lol 🤣
Which is funny he did say he would marry her so he did literally leave her money as if the cat was his wife 😂😂😂
The funny thing is I read he didn't even buy that cat lol 🤣
Apparently it belonged to one of his male models muses Baptiste Giabiconi (who is rumoured to have been Karl's boyfriend) he wanted Karl to babysit his cat while he was on vacation and when he came back to get her Karl said he wasn't going to give the cat back.
So Karl basically stole the cat lol 🤣
I think he was hilarious and I could go on and on about him because he had a very interesting life and he lived very very long so it's a lot that could be said I'll end it here so I don't write a damn book lol 🤣 but I think in addition to Karl Lagerfeld being one of the greatest fashion designers in the world he was a very fascinating man and he will definitely be remembered. ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for this video : )
I'll try to react in chronological order:
boohoo average German person's background is the third reich, the question imo is always if they actually actively took part in the hell AND also passed it to the next generations or not. His family seems to me like your average survival citizen of a country, who at the time made the most terrible decisions. But Karl was indeed just a kid, and however much influence he had, we've not experienced it, so that's that.
It is rather soothing indeed to learn he could have a full life within his family as a gay individual, since his coming out predates the 70s, I think that's very important to mark.
I've learnt so much about him now, but also realized I knew a lot of things I just wasn't aware of them! I am curious to learn more about his interests and self-studies. The way you spoke about him favouring pop culture, makes me want to google if he ever met David Bowie as his self-creation and image always gave me a similar strength of persona :) His creation of marketing and logo's AND basically merchandise, reminds me of Andy Warhol's power, I wonder if he actively applied Warhol's approach. I bet he did. He sounds like a well-read person :D Oh, and his involvement in EVERYTHING personally, reminded me of Balenciaga himself, who was also a workaholic control freak who thrived on his creations! He must have learnt that, too early in his fashion career! Balenciaga's approach is one of the most inspirational and motivational across the fashion designing world.
And the 90s. Chanel and Karl's influence was huge on me as a child. Huge. His newly created image of himself is what made me unconsciously empowered about making sure to always emanate the same appearance and vibe whenever I step out of my home. Today, most of my friends think of me, when they think of style and elegance. I'll die happy one day :D
I never knew about his cat! Obviously, since I got my fluff in the same year as he did, so the centre of my attention is my little prince, not somebody else's! :D
Also, I don't actively want to visit Paris, as I heard it is not very clean or idyllic, however knowing that there is a bookshop established by him, with books curated originally by him... For me this is the strongest reason so far to visit Paris! I also prefer my hard cover book collection over a Kindle! I wonder if the reason my mother and my great aunt have become book fiends because of him... after all, fashion runs in my family (great aunt was a model, mother is a seamstress) : )
Sorry for the essay, this triggered too many things, I really enjoyed the memory lane :)
P.S: did he follow the Marvel Cinematic Universe? :D Was he into comic books? I need answers. I need to buy a book about his at this point...
