  • Hi My Lovelies! Welcome to my channel! Today, I'm doing an ART PRODUCT REVIEW on the ECOLINE WATERCOLOUR INKS/ liquid watercolours by Royal Talens
    I bought these ECOLINE WATERCOLOUR INK paints a while ago and have really struggled to find out any information on their PROPERTIES since they don't come with any information from the manufacturers (ROYAL TALENS) . I have put together this review to try and put into one video, all that I could find to help out any of you out there who are curious or have thought about buying them. I hope you find it useful but if I missed anything or you have any questions, then please leave a comment in the box below!
    I have really loved these liquid watercolours and I've already recorded a few videos where I used them so look out for those. Thanks for watching- please consider subscribing and I'll see you all in the next video! Sarah x

    I've been using the Ecoline ink for a while. I like that I can consistently reproduce the same color by counting the drops with the pipettes.

    My mother got really inspired by some alcohol ink videos and bought these, but they did not do as she wanted so she gave them to me, I did not know they were not 'ink' inks but watercolours, which I know how to work with, this video has been so helpful I am not nervous to use/waste them now, thank you.

    I have been using them since 2012 and the container used to be cube like glass without a peppete lid. That changed to the current container a little after they started making the brushpens. The quality is supposed to be the same. I haven't tried the new ones yet. They are very consistent and reactiavate easily with water. I have been using them in fountain pens as well since 2014. Never had an issue even after it fully dried in the pen. I wouldnt do it in an expensive pen but there are plenty of proper fountain pen inks I also wouldnt risk in an expensive pen.

    They can be used to refill ecoline brush markers. It's a handy supplemental tool to add transparent blended grey tones in watercolor for shadow areas, etc

    Thank you. I was given some as a gift. Do you just use normal brushes and does it wash out ok. Does the colour rinse from a palette or do you keep palette and brushes esp for these inks and I’d heard they are very staining on your hands?

    Can they layer well? I think they will fit me better than watercolor and I am eyeing the pastels because I know watercolors that are pigment based have to be mixed with white to be pastel and I don't like the opaque look, and I know I have to dilute the watercolors for lighter tones but I just would like to have pastels on hand.

    • @SarahNewburyArt

      Hi! As long as you let each layer dry before adding the next one, you should be able to layer well with these! 😊

      Hi! I think since Ecoline are dye based, they are more likely to fade over time compared with pigment based products (Like the Dr. Ph Martins Hydrus range). I I therefore cannot offer the guarantee you are after with the Ecoline products, sorry! 😊

    afaik if theyre dye-based they would not granulate. thats a pigment thing, not a dye thing.

    why do you call them "inks"? isn't ink a different medium?

    • @SarahNewburyArt
      @SarahNewburyArt  5 років тому +2

      Hi Gosia! In answer to your question, I think liquid watercolours/ watercolour inks fall into a bit of a 'grey area'! Ecoline are described on the bottle as being a liquid WATERCOLOUR although unlike traditional watercolours in pans or tubes, Ecoline are DYE based as opposed to pigment based- so are also sometimes referred to as INKS! Basically, they share some properties with watercolours and some properties with inks. Hope this helps 😊
