    He’s right about, when it’s right, you won’t feel it. It’s like hitting a golf ball on the screws. I so recommend anyone standing 15-20 in front of net. Grab 40 or 65 disc, just flick them into the net like you’re only trying to throw 75’ or less. Get to where this disc feels great, or you don’t feel it, then speed up a little. We all heard of skipping rocks in water, I do think that’s helpful for sure. FH was very natural to me, BH was like learning to walk again. One thing I’ve tried to visualize and help people is, think about bowling, down middle of the lane, the arm, forearm, hand, and ball are all on the line down the middle. Even in bowling the wrist will turn over after the ball is gone. Now go to FH, now you’re just going laterally. Pick your angle and go. If your doing the stacked/pistol grip, middle finger into the rim and or where rim meets plate, with the index finger, think about not letting any part of it touch the plate, just pressure on the middle finger. It’s hard, you just don’t won’t any finger pads on the plate

    Another masterpiece video with gems. This has greatly helps me my forehand literally went up another 100 foot a 350’foot time lapse and 320’foot trail and 300 foot felon today. The consistency alone is a big deal for me as back hand dominant player thank you!! The Roman is nice too, I think my Texas stamp one is slightly too gummy for liking to forehand.

    Watching you throw forehands and trying to figure it out is me with my backhand. Forehands are so natural to me and can fix things on the fly if something doesn’t feel right. For the past year I have refused to to throw forehands which has really hurt what I can actually do but my backhand is slowly improving

    I've always been pretty good at forehand but i couldnt describe why, this guy explains it so perfectly. The "lead with the elbow" and "roll off the middle finger" are key points.

      My dad does not and when he played (he no longer plays), he had a better forehand then 80% of the non pro players. My dad, he seemed to do both the forcing of hand but in more the wrist and the proper arm movement in the elbow joint. Yes, leading with the elbow is how my dad would say having a straighter but not a fully straight arm was his other tip as then you can't lead with the elbow. When he played, he also did a push putt with spin where he would do a full on traditional from the waist push putt but have high spin as well, mainly because he used either a Rubber Putter Lighting Disc or a old run Juju in supreme plastic and both he needed spin becuse discs were high glide.

When it comes to forehands the disc has to be absolutely comfortable so my go to is a DM instinct and the DM DD2 bigger rim sits more comfortable. Congratulations on becoming a father also. I’ve seen that throwing elbow first can be an easy way to injure/strain your arm…if you don’t really have that flexibly and warm up. Started throwing elbow in line with wrist. What’s talking about where you feel loose but draw the power together at the end, flicking the wrist and rolling off your middle finger is what I felt for. My longest shot so far is 488ft with a gold plastic Ballista Pro on an Annie Flex shot

    I always seem to drop my forehand in the dip 60 70 short on 7. I have noticed when I over exaggerate my follow through, I tend to push the disc out a bit further because it's causing more motion in wrist. I have also noticed when I stay lower I have better motion through my arm during the hit. Being a big guy, my former looks horrible, but it seems to work for me.

  • @serenityinsilence
    @serenityinsilence 2 місяці тому +1

    What Broderic said about feeling it roll off your fingertips is my exact thoughts also. Just imagine trying to skip a rock across a lake or river. It’s literally the same motion as a forehand, except you aim about 30-40 feet in front of you with a disc. My favorite forehand shape is anhyzer flex with something like a discraft venom, or even my c blend pharaoh.

    • @luuhax
      @luuhax 2 місяці тому

      Yeah I don't have a great forehand by any means, but if I try to pull the disc into rotation with the fingers, it just goes into the ground every time. Have to let it come off the fingers, not cling to them. That way i get smooth flights with no wobble. Just gotta figure out the power

    • @sdreaver816
      @sdreaver816 2 місяці тому +1

      @@luuhax did you grow up with ball sports at all?
      Your issue sounds like the one I was having with off axis torque. Essentially turning the hand over through the wrist, like you do flicking the baseball or football off your hand.
      Turns the disc over- if you master it, it’s a pretty mean roller

    • @luuhax
      @luuhax 2 місяці тому +1

      @@sdreaver816 No I wouldn't say that. I can throw a ball plenty well but didn't play at all with anything heavier than a tennis ball.
      My issue was that i thought pulling the disc with my fingers until the last second was something good. And while it does put power on the disc, it's virtually impossible to get a clean release.
      So I'm happy broderic cues the disc to roll off the fingers instead of actively curling and digging the fingertips into the disc.
      Never reall had the off axis torque, but the power is my struggle. My friend does experience it though and we have similar backgrounds. It's a tricky movement pattern to get down.

    My forehand has always been a work in progress. For some reason I have a very solid standstill touch forehand within ~200, but driving forehands have always been a (slowly improving) dumpster fire. What I've been working on is trying to just forget that I'm throwing a disc. I know how to throw a baseball or a football or whatever, but once I'm thinking about the fact that it's now a disc in my hand, I lose my entire life's muscle memory of how to throw things. Also, it sounds weird, but try giving the ol' 1 fingie forehand a shot. Marwede and Goose are some of the best forehanders on the planet, so there's clearly something to it.

    I've also noticed my disc speed on forehand is faster than with my backhand. Its probably because the flick is snappier than the curl/unwind of the backhand. This makes some of my more over-stable discs more viable for flip up lines than I could achieve with a backhand.

  • @MrMarksuon

    I would recomend to try focus on your timing also. The idea is that you shouldn't turn your hips and upper body before your plant foot (the block) hits the ground. There may be some movement but this is the goal. E.g. the leading arm can open up a bit but shoulders and hips should stay relatively stable. On your "bad" throws you are a way too ahead of your throw bcause you have turned your upper body so much. You basically throw only with your arm. On your great throws the timing is much better but not ideal. I'd say that even your guest could focus on a timing a bit but that's just my take.😁otherwise your technique looks solid. Keep hitting the gym to build strong foundation for your block and get more power out of it!

      Not a lot of power, but a ton of finesse. It really is finding the feel. With a buzz, or midrange, it’s really more about the flick,not the hard wrist snap. With a 12 speed, it’s more of the wrist snap. Right now, the only comparison I could make for mids, not related to DiscGolf, and not flicking, is throwing a paper or styrofoam airplane. Get that finesse down, the you can speed up.

      Do you think if Eagle could go back pre-injury to fix his forehand form he would? He drove with the elbow hard, and probably a reason he's been injured in the past. Do you think he would trade the seasons where he was throwing 500-600ft sidearms on tour for a longer forehand career? He'd probably give up his massive distance and never have been known as the forehand bomber he was. I'm not sure though. He may still be able to throw sidearms just as far post-surgery.

      It is more important to have a loose wrist. Listen at time stamp 20:13 or so.
      Brodi Also talks about this.
      It is difficult for me to describe, but ...
      If your wrist is loose, it will snap backwards when you drive the elbow forward, and then you get a very rapid tendon bounce and the wrist and disc snap forward. Way faster and more powerful than the static preloading you are using now / suggesting.
      This is what they mean by drive with the elbow not the hand.
      Watch in slow motion, they start by driving the elbow and you will see the wrist lag and then rapidly snap forward.
      The static pictures with the elbow leading are a bit of an illusion because at this moment rather than some sort of contortion or unnatural movement, the wrist has lagged due to inertia and this static picture is the tendon bounce and is immediately followed by the forward bounce.
      You can feel this, or start, by holding your wrist loose and swinging the disc at 25% to 50% speed, let the wrist bounce.
      Time stamp 20:30 or so, he is whipping the loose wrist, this is how he leads with the elbow, and it is very different than preloading..
      Hope that helps.

      @leopard3131 2 місяці тому

      @@JoshJackson13 I would say "wobble" is due to OAT (Off Angle Torque) and yes it may help beginners to pre-load, but it is possible to throw with a loose wrist and without OAT.
