Having Billy Johnson basically give you driving tips are priceless considering his work on developing the GT500 and as a driver of the #66 Chip Ganassi Ford GT.
So glad you had some instruction from someone like Billy. I know it's intimidating but that's how you learn. Today you were on throttle then off throttle then coasting. Billy gets off the throttle to brake more in a straight line then stays on the throttle in the turn to shift the vehicle weight to increase traction front or rear to help rotate the car. You could hear the engine through the turn. Try driving your car in a large circle and use the throttle to shift the weight of the car to oversteer to understeer. You get a lot of practice even with auto crossing. Great video imo.
Herman Watson I agree he should have more. A guy that actually uses his cars for what they are for. And all cars remain relatively stock. Other guys mod the heck out of them only to just cruise or make videos.
Once again, amazing video. I love watching you on the track and it was a blast seeing Billy drive the C8. The car needs new tires after that run. He was throwing the car into and all around the turns. Would like to know if that style of driving produces faster or slower lap times. Best 20 minutes spent today. Thanks
Something that I noticed was the tires screeming when Johnson was driving the C8. Maybe the tires or the camber setup. The GT500 stayed planted giving it the ability to get off the corner faster with no tire chatter. From observation. The current C8 may produce a fast 0-60 time, but runs out of power on the top end. I know Johnson drives for Ford, but didn't seem impressed with the C8. I think he did a great job using his driving skills for developing the GT500
A great educational video, I learned a lot. I am amazed at how much different the sound is from inside to outside the vehicles. This is a good time to be a consumer in the motorsport world.
How did you track the order of your GT500? I’ve been wondering this for awhile and nobody seems to know🤷🏻♂️ mine should be being built right now but I have no idea for sure
Speed Phenom Awesome Video I'm glad you got to take Joe's Shelby GT500 Track Pack for a spin on Chuckwalla and let Billy go for a spin in your C8 Z51 and Congratulations on getting 136k Subs
Great video, I have a question, how do you like the LMR Twin Turbo Kit for the Corvette C8 and what would you think if you had such a Twin Turbo Kit installed?
Twin Turbos on this car would be absolutely wicked! The power on the straights would really improve lap times... I do think a set up with turbos could have a lot of potential! Can't wait to even see what Chevy does in the future!
Speed Phenom is there a reason the brake cooling ducts can’t be left on all the time? I may track it once every two months and daily drive in between. Thanks
@@SpeedPhenom yes it is! I just came back from a four track event in Sonoma on freaking believable with the Pro driver did to me in the car . I posted a video of it!
@@SpeedPhenom the hood vents on the gt500 if you open it it keeps the front end from either over steer or understeer one of the two i watched a video you never did that with yours
@@dailylife3975 All it does is stop water from getting in that’s why there is a cover. When you are on a track you must take it off because the engine can over heat faster
@@dailylife3975 this is what is said about the cover “Ford developed a rain tray for the underside of the hood to keep the engine bay clean while driving around town, or to a car show. The large, louvered opening in the center of the hood for heat extraction would otherwise allow dust and dirt into the engine bay, but the tray is easily removable for track days”
Great video of running two fantastic cars, instruction was fantastic, but the most important thing to me: NO MASKS!!!! That alone makes that track a go-to! Did seem like he was using a front engine technique on corner exit, which I think was aggravating the understeer he experienced. OTOH, don't know how quick he was pushing the car, his lap times may have been really quick, and a lot of times quick doesn't look smooth. Another great video, Austin!
Billy Johnson is the Ken Miles of his era...the guy that makes these car so much better

Gonna pick a gt350 up when I get done my Chemo in April. Hopefully I’ll be able to find one 🤞🏻
I wish you all the best Brian.
Rob DC Thanks Rob I appreciate it!
✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾keep fighting brother.
You got it big man! 👌💪
Craig Lamb thank you! It means a lot
wow, he is driving that Corvette great driving
I think Billy just demonstrated how to successfully power-thru a corner
I’ll say!!-> He really had those tires “ talkin’ “ on the turns👀

The way billy was driving the c8 reminds me of karting !
Great Vid! Just riding with you’s guys was awesome and loved Billy’s passion for teaching, driving and carbon wheels!!.!
Great content!! Nice hvg seeing car enthusiasts having a great time out there on the road course!!
You really put out great content and this was by far one of the great ones to watch. Great driving.
Congrats on the new wheels. It looks great. I can’t wait to see it on the track.
I think I saw Austin braking from the passenger seat lol
Oh how it sucks to be the fastest car on the track. It seems like there's always traffic. Hehe Another great video!
Every time I hear the GT500 I feel like it’s going to be mine one day!
Another great video! I’m just shocked that SP only has 136K subscribers smh.
Keep up the great work SP! 👍🏾👍🏾

Good to see the C8 getting some track action!
But stay safe man I hope those wildfires go away soon!
Great video, that Billy guy is super cool and incredibly knowledgeable
wow, what a beast of a car! dream car!!!!
Awesome video!!! I really enjoyed and very informative! Thank you.
Those fires look insane man
Can’t wait to see you track your track pack. Stay blessed and keep those vlogs going.
Billy Johnson is a BOSS on the track!
Stay safe from those fires. Can't wait to see the beast next week.
Amazing run on brand new pavement! That car is so capable. Love it!

Nice discussion on the wheels and track comparison with both cars.
Wow I’m impressed with the weigh billy drives that vette. Honestly I’m a drag guy but that looks like so much fun if I was 30 yrs younger
Can you please Try the Nankang AR1's on the Corvette vs CUP2 or R's.
Another great video 👍 That engine music OMG just drinking it in.
There is track aline mean't mode on the c8 Corvette that makes at a amazing car on the track

Way to go! You got the speed.
Any transmission or engine issues you’ve heard of?
that was cool and I bet you will remember that for your lifetime. I find it hard to sit in the psgr seat while lapping...freakin scary.
You should have asked Billy to put in a word for you to get the GT!
Is that the dude who played the Albino on banshee???

The sound of that car is so cool but I think I’m going to stick with wanting a gt350 I love to shift and never see my self on a track
Do you set up the C8 with the track brake ducts and take them on and off or always leave them on?
I always leave the car in track set up. If I were to daily drive it, then that might change... Regardless, it is holding up great!
Speed Phenom is there a reason the brake cooling ducts can’t be left on all the time? I may track it once every two months and daily drive in between. Thanks
Talented and personable 🏎️🏎️🏎️😁
Is it against the rules to just drive around the spodes in the corners?
Nice singing tires in the C8.
That white Mustang was pulling on you though..
Love it man 🐎🔥🔥🔥🌪🍻
I love HPDE, too. Not first, lol probably because I have a hot hatch not a C8 yet.
u do such good videos love that blue shelby
Lmao! Chris with his scooter 🛴

Been a while since I watched sure hope you still have your super snake
Why do you wait for the others to let you pass? Why not just overtake them ?
Safer.

Sorry to just repeat so many others but this was another great video.
Finally got back into a real sport car. Have fun !!!
Notification Squad
Nice cars
minus smoke means loss off 100hp lol jk great video
Vette Its a nice car but needs a lit of work to become a track car. Tires traction control is hokding it back.
It's a base model car the Z06 or GS are the track variants of the Vette line up. People also forget that
So many ads 👎🏼
Resonators delete sounds horrible. Way to raspy.
The GT350R will destroy the 500 Track Pack on this track.

He's had alopecia since he was 14, which makes all your hair fall out.
