Got in trouble for doing this at work long ago..and I was like hey, better Google Maps than a place where u can catch a virus. Boss lady still wasn’t havin it.. 😩
I'm Cape Verdean and I must say, great job! There are some little mistakes but, in general, you nailed it! For instance, Cape Verde does not have only 3 volcanoes. The islands are of volcanic origin, therefore, almost every mountain is a volcano. Extinct ones but still volcanoes. Those figures in "ethnicity" were data used by the Portuguese in the colonial period. They are not accurate and since the independence there hasn't been any statistics about races. I mean, come on! In a country like Cape Verde how can you know exactly if a person is black, white or mestiço? The Guinea-Bissau Creole is indeed similar to Cape Verdean Creole (kinda Portuguese and Spanish are similiar). The culture... mmm... no that much. But Cape Verde was in fact the principal country to help Guinea-Bissau in the political turmoil in the 90's. Once again, congrats!
Xandu di Canda Wrong, the ethnic/racial statistics are accurate, most Cape Verdeans are mulattos. However, I do agree that many of the people that are listed as black or white are, actually, somewhat mixed.

Hey, so I absolutely love this vid & it's undoubtedly my favorite vid about CV. But being Cape Verdean myself, I think i'm obligated to inform you that it's probably not best you refer to the country or its inhabitants as "Halfrican". I totally get what you're getting at & that you mean nothing malicious whatsoever. It's just that Cape verde is part of Africa so for that reason alone, its inhabitants should be referred to as African. Yes, we're a mixed race nation & I love & am proud to be a Cape Verdean but as you mentioned, most of us borrow alot of cultural traditions from portugal. What's little known is that unfortunately, many cape verdeans try ignoring their African heritage all together & in fact, will often say that they are just Portuguese. This form of self hate or denial, rather, is only reinforced by false terms like Halfrican. Hope you understand. Thanks again for the informative & powerful vid! Keep em coming, please!

Hi Christina! I'm Cape Verdean born & raised in Boston MA! I was curious how dense the population of cape verdeans are in Luxembourg & whether there is a scene out there that caters to the culture (I.e restaurants, shops, lounges etc.) Hope to hear back from you soon!
Thanks for sharing the brief on Cape Verde! Many of the Cape Verdeans from around the world are sharing your show. Oh and thank you for not saying the islands were not inhabited prior to colonial powers. No one nation can honestly say they've discovered another. Really enjoyed the upbeat way you told Cabo Verde's story. Respect...
A guy in Cape Verde, when i was visiting the country, said me 'Welcome Home' 😳 as a portuguese i suspect there's not many portuguese ex colonies i can hear that.. thanks! love the country - yeah a guy at a bar, at night, try to make me pay for the Vasco da Gama mistakes 😂😂 but the guys over there deal with it.. was fun 😂😂
So yeah, my dad's side of the family is from the islands you called 'Mandeira,' they're actually called 'MADEIRA.' If you want help when you get to Portugal or any place in Latin America hit me up.
think it's a little too late for this recommendation but it would be nice to have the meaning of the name in each countires, maybe you can do it in the geography more section for those countires you have alrready pass and keep put it on the ones that are comming. P.S. i feelt that you were talking too fast like you were in a hurry, or maybe how i alredy watched all your videos i forgot how you speak, anyways keep the good job :)
Just a little pedantic note (Sorry! Great video, btw): The variance in topography between the eastern and western halves of the archipelago is more attributable to geology, and not the Harmattan winds blowing off the Sahel and Sahara regions. The islands are volcanic, and they sprout out of a hotspot, then are pushed eastwards. This makes the islands in the eastern half significantly older, and therefore more weathered/eroded down. (Consider the case of the Appalachians, ancient mountains which are relatively modest in size now but used to be towering Himalaya-esque landforms millions of years ago.) This is why Sal, Boavista, and Maio are relatively flat, and the youngest islands, like Santo Antão and Brava, are very mountainous (and correspondingly greener). Certainly the eastward march of the islands into the face of the Harmattan winds is a small factor in this (the islands are 400km of the coast of the continent, so a, say, 15km distance between one island and another is not enough for wind to be the determining factor in topography differences), but geology is the prime mover in this positive feedback loop of dimunition.

Come on, when he says "african", he means: with little to no European blood, and when he says "creole", he means: with a fair share of European blood! That's ethnicity, not culture or nationality!
David K. Africa is a continent not a race. When most people say aftican they mean subsaharan West African negroid.
I am cape verdian (African)
But a don't look like one
I did some research and Jesus you guys are gorgeous people.
Foxx Of Laurels thank you

Cape Verdean women are freaking hot! 😍
Interesting perspective, always cool to see how an outsider would describe our home. Very Americanized view of Cabo verde but quite cool.
Hi Barby!
As a cap verdean living in Luxembourg I'm still waiting on you to make a video on Luxembourg :p
It's alphabetical
Hi Christina! I'm Cape Verdean born & raised in Boston MA! I was curious how dense the population of cape verdeans are in Luxembourg & whether there is a scene out there that caters to the culture (I.e restaurants, shops, lounges etc.) Hope to hear back from you soon!
I'm from Cape Verde and I really liked your video.
I love where I’m from, the food the people and the music 🇨🇻❤️
I love your channel, first used to learn more about Kyrgystan. You present funlike and casual, but still factual. Love it, stay cool. Andreas

So a mile is not always a mile... You see why most people took up the metric system?
We shipping people use nautical miles every day, ww. No km/hr here, except when we drive in car around the port.
Lets go imperial
*Hears that the Central African Republic is next*
Me: 0.0 ...Oh no.
+Devon Lewis Why?
+CountryStuffMapping You know.. War, conflict, and stuff...
Martin Fosse Oh. Pretty much the embodiment of Africa, wars.
4.5 million people version of the hunger games
+Devon Lewis should be very interesting considering that it has no government
Thanks for sharing the brief on Cape Verde! Many of the Cape Verdeans from around the world are sharing your show. Oh and thank you for not saying the islands were not inhabited prior to colonial powers. No one nation can honestly say they've discovered another. Really enjoyed the upbeat way you told Cabo Verde's story. Respect...
Outstanding job presenting my dear Archipelago! Thank you!
My country!! you did an amazing job!!
please watch my video about Cape Verde and most of countries through my channel
What an underrated channel.
Love the content!
keep it up :)
finally💯 much love from cabo verde and luxembourg ❤
I too like to scan Google Maps and it is therapeutic for me as well. Recognize.
think it's a little too late for this recommendation but it would be nice to have the meaning of the name in each countires, maybe you can do it in the geography more section for those countires you have alrready pass and keep put it on the ones that are comming.
P.S. i feelt that you were talking too fast like you were in a hurry, or maybe how i alredy watched all your videos i forgot how you speak, anyways keep the good job :)
Saying hello from Ireland. I love this country 🇮🇪❤🇨🇻
Good job man i like it, it looks u did a lot of research 4 this video, as a Cape Verdean im very happy with this video.
Love from the United States of America to Cape Verde! 🇺🇸❤️🇨🇻
1:25 That archipelago is called Madeira not "Mandeira"
