I was super impressed that it ran perfectly for more than an hour at 1.9 Gbps. That is a HUGE amount of data, and this drive just swallowed it with no complaint. At a "normal" data rate of 400 Mbps, this will record for 5+ hours. For the money, it's a MUCH better deal than a V90 or even a V60 SD card.
Thanks for telling us about your great experience and sharing such helpful information. I was wondering if it's possible to shoot 120P on the GH6 in the same way? I tried 120P by connecting a samsung t7 ssd (2tb) with a usb-c cable, but ended up failing as the 120p menu was not activated.
You are absolutely right -- for some reason, you can't record 120p from the GH6 to an SSD. I record 4K 120p all the time to an SD card, so I never thought to check if it would record to an SSD. Amazingly, 120p will not record to the SSD. Weird... I have no idea why. Certainly the SSD can easily record the bit rate of 4K 120p (300 Mbps). But for whatever reason, the 4K 120p option is not available when an SSD is attached. The good news is that you can record 4K 120p to an SD card. But the bad news is that you can't record it to an SSD.

I've been able to shoot 120p on an old SD card that doesn't have a V30 rating but has a read/write speed of 90 or so. Sony requires a V60 or higher memory card, which is expensive. Panasonic is quite attractive in that regard. Here's hoping Panasonic does a nice firmware update. ha :)
Sure, you can call me Uncle Bob... as long as that is not some inside joke meaning "pervert" or "blowhard." In theory, a V30 card means it's rated to write data at 240 megabits per second (Mbps), so you are actually getting better than V30 performance from your card. I use a V60 card, which is good for 480 Mbps, although I have had a V60 card choke on the GH5's 400 Mbps All-I 4K video. I have a couple other V60 cards that work fine. Yes, it would be nice if Panasonic updates the GH6's firmware to allow many more formats to be recorded on an SSD. It doesn't make sense that it can record video at 1.9 Gbps, but it won't accept 4K 120fps at 300 Mbps.
