I’m not from homeschooling I’m from online learning and before anyone complains with me saying they are the exact same homeschooling is when a parent/carer teaches their own children
I went to a "Ragged School and home" founded by Lord Shaftesbury's in 1897 for crippled children. It was the best place I went to. Lord Shaftesbury looked down with a kind look at us from a large picture on the wall. I was in two hospitals for sick children before that for six years. Many of my friends died as children including one who was so weak that she suffocated to death under her bed clothes one night. Thanks Lord Shaftesbury I appreciate your efforts at making our lives better.
Unfortunately child labour continues in the 3rd world, especially South Asia, and is as bad or worse than Victorian England. 8 year olds shackled to rug looms or working in locked sweat-shops with no way out in a fire or collapse, and that's just the boys. The girls fate is often worse - sold off into prostitution or married off at 11 or 12.
Canuckmom1958 Yes, you are right. If only we were still able to impose civilization on those horrible backward countries in an effective way that has long gone out of fashion.
The First world countries aren't complelty innocent. The United States started wanting to get products cheaper. The U.S. couldn't produce them, so they turned to countries that could.
@@DownOnFascinationStreet please don't end yourself. I had to do the same at your age. I was up until very late, 4.00 am also, for 2-3 hours sleep , it will be worth it in the end, trust me
That is so sad still to this day there are people who wear rags to school and stuff. charles dickens was a nice man and anyone who denies in not in their right mind.
Considering what we spend on welfare checks and considering our public school test scores and graduation rate as well as our juvenile delinquency, maybe we should bring back child labor.
