I also feel like the tourney in episode 1 was also kind of a preview to what was to come, sense the moment Viserys left the tourney it became chaos, from what I understand at least in the game of thrones universe the host of the tourney can allow fights to continue or stop them, sense in real life it was just sport and all the knights were nobles sons and if they killed each other it would likely start wars
