Anakin Skywalker was passionate, emotional, sympathetic to the plight of others and merciless to those that threatened those he loved. Vader was a being of cold logic, ruthless pragmatism and a deep mistrust of others as well as himself, treading carefully in even the brightest of spaces. Anakin resented unsought guidance, the attempts at corralling or controlling made upon him by others and the stench of manipulation. Vader acted on command, marching in lockstep with the orders his master gave him. Anakin revelled in the freedom conflict brought. No longer was he a Jedi or a Padawan or a slave. On the battlefield, he was finally his own man. Vader was less enthusiastic. Conflict was simply an extension of his duties-a task to be fulfilled efficiently and nothing more. Anakin did not care to examine the dangers of straying too far from his path, electing to take shortcuts where possible. Vader knew all too well the price of leading himself astray. It would of been impossible for Anakin to become Vader, without his loss on Mustafar. It's baptism by fire. It was his hate that kept him alive. You take away the struggle, the loss, there's no hate. This video made me go buy the book and i loved it, still watch the vid a couple times a week. It's so perfectly edited, and the narrator is great. Really brings it to life.
Thunderous applause. You brought these passages to life in a way that the audiobook never could (no offense to Jonathan Davis; for the record I did listen to the whole audiobook and loved it). The music choice, the pacing of the narration, the clips and editing . . . they're all excellent. Gosh I could watch this a thousand times and never get tired of it.
This was amazing. I always thought the excerpt in the book ROTS was way better explaining Anakins inner turmoil than the film. Thank you for making this.
After reading/listening through most of the Expanded Universe novels and the novelizations of the original six films, I've come to the conclusion that Star Wars just works better as a book series than a movie series. Sure, the movies have great visuals and amazing music, but the books have all the character development, the explanations and the true depth that the films never truly captured. And it's especially apparent with the new post-RotJ movies. While the new sequels only focus on throwbacks to the original trilogy and little else, the New Republic, New Jedi Order, Galactic Alliance and Legacy era books and comics actually focused on the story and the characters and instead of throwing the original characters away like garbage, they continued to develop them while also introducing and developing new characters.
Thank you so much for doing this. I’m in love with Light Of The Seven, and I love SW. I was seeing an analysis of the melody and I came searching if someone could’ve done a video of just Anakin’s life with Light Of The Seven. It was magnifcient. Each melody and Anakins tragic life makes me cry, now I cried even more with this masterpiece you did. Again, thank you so much. It was perfect.
what-the-hell Sincerely, this video was mind-blowing. I got to admit that i wasn't expecting that. This comment may be too late to be noticed but I have to say that you, truly create a masterpiece. I hope you didn't left forever, you are a real artist Dudufilm...
First video of yours I've ever watched and it gave me chills, even on the second viewing! Great use of the amazing music from GoT and timing the clips and the text with it. Incredible.
He is literally the best force sensitive ever. What a tragic story. "And this is how it is to be Anakin skywalker, forever" this chocked me too much, I just can't imagine how much pain exists in his mind and body, It's unbearable to be him.
I can relate to him on a micro level. I always end up sabotaging myself by overthinking things. I end up worse than I would have if I had just relaxed.
Thank you for this tribute, DuduFilms. He is very good. The quotes from Matthew Stover's novelization of Revenge of the Sith are great. And the book is wonderful. Thank you. Your tributes are wonderful.
These collaborations between you and SithReign are absolutely incredible- I love both of your channels and as a huge fan of the ROTS novelisation it's awesome to see some of its best elements narrated + edited so beautifully and dramatically!
Way to go team, superb work. Emotionally provocative, good choice of accompanying soundtrack, and a lovely excerpt. I've never picked up this novelization. Might do so now.
+Conor Might get some flak for this, but that's not hard. As much as I love all they spawned, I hate the prequels as films. Took me years to be able to even try the Clone Wars era EU. Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader is considered part of a trilogy with that novelization, yes? I was a big fan of that piece, though I've an admitted soft spot for Luceno.
Excelent vid. One of the best, if not the best, about Anakin/Vader. Your vid is something I wish I would have seen in Lucas film. Narration from ROTS novelization with "Light of the Seven" and your choice of scenes is giving me goosebumps. For me Revenge of the Sith as film showed Vader's tragic story in right way, but this fragment of novelization completes it. And now I know I need to read this book.
You remind me how good that book actual was -- I really should read it again. The last bit of narration, the "this is what is means to be Anakin" bit, was the best part of it and you captured why. The words are beautiful, the delivery (haunting, raspy, echoing) is perfect, and the edit is wonderful. Especially that end, as Vader fights and lashes out against everything, with such power, but he only really wants to change things. To have made a different choice. This is amazing. Easily one of your best, and you have so many to choose from!
This video is a masterpiece, a beautiful masterpiece. The way the footage matches the book is perfect. The hallway scene with cuts to Anakin's past was everything. This truly is one of the best of this kind of video. Outstanding work. Edit: Back again to watch this amazing video. I think one of the reasons it’s so great is that it conveys so much emotion and tells such an interesting story without a single bit of spoken dialogue outside of the narration. Yet, the narration never feels like pure exposition. Yes, we all know the story of Anakin Skywalker already, but the narrator’s description of it puts it into a different perspective - Anakin’s perspective. The way that Anakin’s inner turmoil is represented as a dragon burning away at his heart is great, and then when he knows what he has to do, when the doubt in his mind is gone, he crushes it and tosses it aside. When you watch the prequels, you’re watching the story unfold. When you watch this, you’re right there alongside Anakin. You feel his inner conflict. You feel his uncertainty. You feel his pain. And you feel his regret, his deception, his inability to change the choices that he made. Now, with nothing left to cherish, with all that he cared for dead and destroyed by his own hand, he resides himself to his fate, embracing the dark side not out of necessity, not out of desperation or hopelessness, simply because there is no alternative. Even death isn’t an option for him. Anakin, now caught in the trap of the dark side, sees no alternative but to destroy everything that ties him to his past, to try and separate himself from his guilt. Ultimately, it would take his son, Luke, the epitome of the light, to bring back the true Anakin hiding behind the shroud of Vader. Luke, like Anakin all those years ago, is desperate. If he fails, everyone he cares about will die, and all hope seems to be lost. Despite this, Luke doesn’t give in to the darkness. He perseveres, refusing to let Palpatine claim his soul as he did his father. Anakin sees Luke at his lowest point, and he realises that Luke is in the same position that he was. He knows he has to act. He has to destroy the Sith. He has to avenge those that have died as a result of his actions. He has to save the last part of Anakin that is left, even if it would cost him his life. Anakin, like his son, perseveres through the darkness. He acts not out of selfish desire, but out of pure selflessness. He sacrifices himself to save the lives of countless others. Still, on the verge of death, Anakin knows that he is too far gone to be fully redeemed. He has done terrible things, and he doesn’t believe he deserves redemption. At last, Anakin has an out. Death awaits him, but before he passes, he indulges himself with one last selfish desire - to see his son with his own eyes. Finally at peace, he dies, but the legacy of the Chosen One, of Anakin Skywalker, lives on through his lineage. Sorry for the essay. Kind of got sidetracked from my original point, and the video itself. I just really love Star Wars, lol. Thanks for reading.
absolutely mind blowing. perfectly synchronized, the narration with the images and the music. even now, i keep coming back to this video. he indeed killed her. and he never ever forgave himself for it. what he was and what he became. perfectly summerized in these words, the story of his rise and fall, with the music completing the tragic story. one of my favorite videos of all time. thank you for this
Oh my godness, its is amazing. I can't get over how good you edit every scene to fit the words spoken, to the beat of the wel chosen music. How with every vid you bring something that was already there to light in such a new way so that I as a viewer can only watch in astonishment and ask myself, how have I never noticed this? How did I never see this?
Absolutely superb, flawless. This is the most creative Star Wars fan-tribute of all time and that's dating back decades of video sharing on the internet and it's simplicity of story over effects is what drives chills down my spine.
I had to watch this video again after kenobi because the first thing I thought of was that my guy has some more material to work with at last. Can't wait to see how you use the new content. No rush let the force flow through you 💪🏼
We all love the movie...we all love Star Wars. For me, it's always had a VERY deep and personal meaning and ROTS had the deepest meaning. As much as I loved the movie, and still love it to this day, the novelization gives it SO much more power. So much more impact. There's something about the wording, the concept of "the dragon" and "the shadow" as metaphors for his anger and fears, the way it's written down that hits me so much harder than the actual movie. I remember reading it in 2006, a year after the film came out...I was 17 and I remember thinking, the whole title of "hero, without fear" for Anakin was beyond fitting. I'll forever love the movie, and even more so the novel, as it connects on a personal level and also inspires me with my own writing.
This must be the most unique Anakin/Vader tribute I have ever seen! It's incredible! It did not feel like 7+ minutes, but passed so quickly. I got chills so many times. Fantastic edit!

I can understand why Anakin fell as hard as he did. Mortality is horrifying. None of us make it out of this alive. Not you, your friends, your family, your loved ones, no one. Everyone and everything is going to die someday. Even stars burn out. I had a similar realization and it scared the hell out of me. It still does.

And Vader Suffered a *LOT* , by his own hand. Only you can change yourself.
For anyone who is wondering, the music from this is "Light of the Seven" by Ramin Djawadi. It's from the Game of Thrones soundtrack.
You think?
6:15... What a PERFECT scene for those words... I mean i would never remember to put this here and as i said it fits PERFECTLY. Fantastic job mates, both of you, keep up the good work!
This gave me chills. Sith Reign is one of my favorite Star Wars narrators.
Thanks!
I love this. However, it just exemplifies the excellent visual storytelling of George Lucas. It's like the fast food version of the first 6 movies and I mean that in the most complimentary way possible. You really get it... well done!
"Father! Please!"
The moment he feared something worse than death, the Emperor's power meant nothing. And that's when he could fight.
This was amazing it made me sympathize for Anakin even more, the emotional narration and the music combined with the video clips where well done,it completely blew me away. Great collab guys keep up the amazing work, your videos are beautiful.
Darth Revan I heard you were weak, tell me are the rumors true.....
Vader didn't acknowledge that the dragon was a lie until the end of his life.
I think he did way before he knew when he was suited and when he learned that padme died. This is when he realizes that he will be alone for the rest of his life. The only reason why he gives in deeper into the dark side is simply because he has no other choice left . Of course all of this changes with luke when he realizes that he isnt alone anymore and that he has a person who believs in him and loves him
Anakin if he hadn't have Lost on Mustafar,Could've been one of the most Powerful Sith of All Time and even overthrown Palpatine
Two years late, but an injury free Vader would’ve undoubtedly been the most powerful force user ever. Definitely one of the most powerful “mortal” entities of all time.
@@willcruikshank7972 his power could have rivaled the demonic monarchs and eldritch horrors that exist in Otherspace. He was to be the Flame of the Celestials, a being of true righteousness and holy power. For it would have sparked a new age in which he would have to unite the galaxy and prepare for a terrible war against the stygian armies of Otherspace being lead by their ancient, evil, and vengeance-seeking gods...
@@willcruikshank7972 he overthrown. Him
It would of been impossible for Anakin to become Vader, without his loss on Mustafar. It's baptism by fire. It was his hate that kept him alive. You take away the struggle, the loss, there's no hate. It's through loss and Anakins inability to let go of things he lost that fueled his hate.
That is why, there was no way for Vader to become Anakin again, except only in death. His transformation into Vader was permanent and his loss on Mustafar was essentiel.
@@glim3mer he was already gone by that point imo. Mustafar just taught him he wasn't all he thought he was. Taught him he had limits something the jedi could never truly do
This is seriously the best Vader tribute I've seen! The light of the seventh music just makes it complete!
"Anakin Skywalker was weak I destroyed him"
"Then I will avenge his death"
"Revenge is not the jedi way"
"I am no jedi"
Such a good scene
And show he’s a hypocrite.
Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader is the #1 greatest character/person of all time. 😎
yes, very powerful story and perfect character development.
like arthas in warcraft, or revan a noble hero turns into a ruthless harbinger of death.
the part that hit me the most was anakin and Darth varder holding out their hand force choking and throwing and stuff really empathizing how this monster was the hero without fear one in the same like jesus the feels😢😢😢
WOW! Amazing.... GOT Music, great narrator ... just perfect.
DeathWatcher4ever The narration came from a book!
No. The words came from a book, but the narration came from Sithreign.
I just got goosebumps rewatching this for the billionth time.
That was beautiful... especially if you knew the story behind the Light of the Seven soundtrack from Game of Thrones. Bravo, Dudufilms. Bravo.
This the most beautiful tribute to Anakin I have ever seen
what-the-hell
Sincerely, this video was mind-blowing.
The novelization of Revenge of the Sith was an amazing book, the way that dude wrote was incredible
I can relate to him on a micro level. I always end up sabotaging myself by overthinking things. I end up worse than I would have if I had just relaxed.
Same here
Me too.
"This is Anakin Skywalker."
"No. This is Patrick."
Dude, you're the best channel i've ever seen on this website. Please keep it up the good work.
Great Work. You chose the best lines from the book and the music fits perfect
Thanks! It was really hard to choose just a page of lines from an entire book worth of content xD
Way to go team, superb work.
Emotionally provocative, good choice of accompanying soundtrack, and a lovely excerpt.
I've never picked up this novelization. Might do so now.
It's really an amazing book!
+Conor
Might get some flak for this, but that's not hard.
+SithReign
You have really amazing narration skills. Boom. Take that.
Oh, read the book. It's f***ing amazing xD
+SithReign I love your narrations dude keep up the amazing work.
WOW that was amazing and beautiful, you always know how to make my inner Sith cry tears of joy.
ever since i found this video I keep coming back to it
Excelent vid.
6:33 This is how it feels to be Anakin Skywalker....
Forever.
It’s spine tingling just how much this can describe Revan, The Exile, and even Mara Jade Skywalker.
That light of the seven song hits so hard
I've watched/listened to this video so many times. You did a fantastic job with the editing, and especially that last sequence...*chef's kiss*
I am blown away ...
Anakin tried so hard to keep Padme alive because she was his main reason for living after he lost his mother
Thanks for reading.
absolutely mind blowing. perfectly synchronized, the narration with the images and the music. even now, i keep coming back to this video. he indeed killed her. and he never ever forgave himself for it. what he was and what he became. perfectly summerized in these words, the story of his rise and fall, with the music completing the tragic story. one of my favorite videos of all time. thank you for this
Second time I watched this video. Still as epic! Dudufilm and SithReign you guys are true masters!
This deserves more views.
This is - by far - the best video on UA-cam! Great Anakin/Vader tribute.
Well done sir. 10/10
"This is Anaikin"
*shows image of Obi Wan*
The words the narration, the symbols, the delivery, I get big goosebumps when Anakin looks back and he has sith eyes...
Absolutely superb, flawless. This is the most creative Star Wars fan-tribute of all time and that's dating back decades of video sharing on the internet and it's simplicity of story over effects is what drives chills down my spine.
Seven years later and I still come back to this video. Literally art, a masterpiece.
Guess I have to read the book now. (Wipes away tears)
This is such a heartfelt beauty of a video. Thank you for bringing this into my life.
I'm here after Clone Wars season 7x9 and I feel so bad for him. My heart can't handle it. Again.
He understood at last, his suit was not a prison, it was a fortress. Within there was no galaxy, no empire, no jedi or sith, there was only himself, and the dark side. It had taken a Jedi, Another Jedi to make him finally see. "And i thank you master Jedi for affirming my faith in the Dark side" -Paraphrased from Dark lord:the rise of Darth Vader
I have no words...this is a masterpiece I loved every moment of it❤ thank you:)
That was beautiful man! The music you added in made on so special!
I keep coming back to this, it's so good
I can understand why Anakin fell as hard as he did. Mortality is horrifying. None of us make it out of this alive. Not you, your friends, your family, your loved ones, no one. Everyone and everything is going to die someday. Even stars burn out. I had a similar realization and it scared the hell out of me. It still does.
It seems as a Edgar Allan Poe story
"Every day he wrestles with his dragon"
You know what came to mind first.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I thought you were going for a How To Train Your Dragon joke there.... XD
DeathΩMessenger HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON.... 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Depression?
thinking of his penis right?
Most excellent work! I have watched and and enjoyed many of SithReign's videos (also, it's the coolest name on YT). But your work and collaboration with him are really very well done! Thank you!
i get chills every time i watch this.
This. Is. Stunning. What perfect use of music and film and the best Star Wars novel I have ever read in my life. I mean, honestly, this is superb work.
UHG every tiime I watch this I get chills. This embodies every single thing I love about star wars and Anakin's character. Its sooo good.
I just keep coming back to this. So damn good.
Nothing but the cold ever gave me chills... until I watched this video.
There’s a reason why we should know fear. Not to let it control or consume us, but to know where the line is, what not to do, and when to stop.
*Light of the Seven starts playing*
*Me:* Hol'up
This is beautiful, sad, and epitomizes the nature of the effects of the Force
How does this not have more views?
Thank you for making me cry on this beautiful Sunday morning. Wow.
This is a story that will never die! His life is a true tragedy
Only a minute in and I’m getting the chills. Wow fantastic video, guys.
Revenge of the Sith and rise if the dark lord are so much better than the new canon Vader origin comics. Nothing beats Lucerno writing.
Luceno should direct a SW movie
Great, now I’m crying
