Finally I found a video where she’s speaking Spanish, thank you
I’ve been looking for forever!!
SAME
What's the link to the video of her speaking Spanish?
it must've been so hard to pretend like you aren't fluent in your freaking 1st language for a character😭
It's called ACTING!
They should’ve let her speak it tho! It would make so much sense for her character, she’s super smart and could easily pick up Spanish as a kid or from tons of books.
Not really, it's actually very easy. If you're fluent in a language, that also means you have heard people speak your language very poorly. You just imitate them, it's easy. I'm fluent in my mother tongue and I love pulling out the whitewashed/coconut ver of my language that I hear my younger siblings speak lol
No actually it’s really easy. You just mimic ppl who don’t speak it well lol. It’s one of my favorite accents to do and I talk to my dad a lot like that too😂
Not hard at all
The Gonzales Girls lol
Lmaooooooooooo
😅
Lollll
The fact that Gonzalez is the most common last name in both Argentina and México make the comment even better
O😂😂
Omg that's why she could talk soooooo freaking fast!!!
It makes so much sense
@@ElectricBlueSwirlYep! The fast talking is a part of their schtick lol
Im Mexican, my husband Korean, we live in US and I’ll be very proud of my baby boy is able to speak Spanish, Korean and English.
Woah that’s really impressive
Wowie that's super impressive
My aunt from Mexico married an usanian and both went to live to Österreich, so my cousins speak german, english, spanish and learnt a little bit of french during the school.
Keep teaching all 3 too your little one. Under 6 is the easiest time to learn a different language .
Trilingual icon
She's so cute. That's cool to know
Bruh this girl just gets cooler day by day
Not going to lie it is the strangest thing to see my fav speaking Spanish!!! It feels like another role to me!!
Her mom is actually from Arizona but moved to Mexico city when she was 8. Alexis grew up in a spanish speaking household. Yes, her accent sounds like someone who does speak spanish. Couldnt really fake it 😁
no the fuck she ain’t 😂
@@beefcat6018100% she’s more latina than people of Latin decent that have never lived in Latin America
@@beefcat6018not saying she is mexican all i am saying she was actually born in the states, but of course even if not born in mexico if thats what she considers her self totally fine.
@@andyqafulright! Jlo She looks more Latin than Alexis and Jlo's Spanish is not fluent and both of Jlo's parents are Latin from Puerto Rico
He mom is Mexican… her family moved to Arizona and then MOVED BACK TO MEXICO. Her mom is Mexican…
I thought people knew this!!! I definitely didn’t know when I was a kid watching the show, but she did a spread in a magazine years ago with a few other Latina actors and talked about how important her heritage is to her!’
Yeah, as a fan of the show I thought everyone knew this. There was a big fuss about the scene, especially since Emily fired the maid after hearing here and Rory speak Spanish.
i always thought english was her second language bc of how she speaks. makes total sense! this is a great little clip
Same. It all makes sense now.
How does she speak?
@@midapita she has a very faint accent, it’s almost not even an accent at all. It’s just a bit different. It made her character more charming tbh.
@@midapita she seemed to have a speech impediment.
Sometimes she just would sound twangly, others rhotacist.
I struggled many times trying to understand what she was saying because it was just gibberish to me.
At first I thought it was my personal perception since English is not my mother language however I discovered later on that I wasn't the only one.
She speaks Spanish so beautifully. Thank you for sharing this. ❤
I’m a Gilmore Girls freak, so I already knew this. But I’m so happy that more people are learning about her background!
I wish this was more widespread
i'm half hispanic but my mom never spoke spanish to me growing up bc she thought it would make our life harder for some reason if we showed a shred of heritage:(
Aww your poor momma must have faced racism and bigotry because of her heritage, that’s heartbreaking!! I’m sorry that was your experience.
@@taylorgayhart9497 she must've:( and thanks:(💕 we're both very pale so i guess she just wanted us to blend in as much as we could
same!!!
I know a LOT of mixed kids / children of immigrants that had that experience. It’s never too late to embrace your mum’s heritage & language. I’m sure she’d be thrilled. ❤
Bruh I throw blows at my ma for my inefficiency in Spanish lmao
This is so mindblowing lol
her eyes are soo bright
Watch Sin City, she’ll literally blow your mind
This isn't really a secret. I remember seeing her on the cover of Latina magazine back in the day lol. However, I'm glad to see others are getting clued in on her heritage!
wait she sounds so different speaking Spanish
It wasn’t that her parents never shied away from reaching her spanish, as she said in the clip, she only spoke spanish until she went to school. She’s always said this in interviews, I thought everyone knew this about her.
I have never even come across an interview with her. I am sure many people have never heard of her, or love that show but don't know anything about her outside of that she was in it. Why would you ever think everyone in any group knows the same things?
@@pretzelmaker3122 Maybe next time you disagree with a comment, you don’t have to make a rebuttal. Just let it stand, and if you disagree with it, just move on. There was no mail intent here, so no need to make it into something negative.
@@janesays1278 Well you did make a grand sweeping generalization with your last sentence: “I thought everyone knew this about her.” The rebuttal does have a good point: there are differing levels of fandom. There are casual viewers, some mid-level fans that will know a factoid or two and then the really hardcore fans that know every little detail. Not everyone is going to go out to find interviews that Alexis has done, and that’s ok. Hell, people on UA-cam who still watch the show 22 years later, will still find new details they missed out on.
They should’ve let her speak Spanish on the show. It could’ve been a throw-away line that one of her interests as a kid was the language & she read tons of books on it. It would fit right in with her character and be so cool!
So true! They even say in the show a few times that she speaks Spanish and French fluently! Season 4 episode 1 is the first time that comes to mind, but I think they mention it before then. They should have actually let her show it.
She’s also of German and Danish descent.
The first time watching that scene years ago I knew she sounded like she was faking not knowing Spanish lol
I LOVE HER EVEN MORE NOW
I want to hear her speak more spanish 🥹
THIS SUMMER I WATCHED GILMORE GIRLS FOR THE FIRST TIME AND LOVED IT and omg i can't believeeee the girl who played rory was actually FLUENT in spanishhh
Interesting. She actually sounds softer speaking English.
It's a latin thing. We are sort of louder in our native languages
@@joseluismeloconcepcion2021
That’s bull!
@@magu9841 all my friends and family do so
@@magu9841Spanish let’s you be more expressive
@@Pradapussythat’s true, I feel much more comfortable speaking Spanish because of that.
It’s a secret? I’ve known this for years 😂 I remember reading about it in some magazine back in high school. Maybe seventeen or one of those lol
I read it in Cosmopolitan lol
I’m living for the amount of people who are mindblown by this. I do not feel alone now 😅
OMGG PERIOD!!🥹🥹 my mom & I would stay up and watch Gilmore girls together all the time. I love this. I never knew she was Latina
I’ve been thinking abt this scene ever since I learned spanish is her first language
I love her in Handmaids Tale !!
Had no idea and loved this show
Then later on we see her speaking perfect Spanish and her grandma being upset because she’s speaking to the service
This was me too. My parents moved us to Australia when I was little from Spain.
My world has been turned upside down.
this makes me love her more
She is so beautiful
Why did you pronounce Argentina with an accent but not Mexico?
Love Spanish, it should be our other national language!
If you were educated, you would know we have no national language.
Omg I knew it! Well i knew she had to know more than she let on because her accent was really good in the scene.... such a fun fact!
So good and refreshing to see a beautiful lady preserve herself so well in Hollywood.. I used to be so jealous of her
it’s not a secret she’s actually shared this a while ago
I’ve known this literally since the mid 2000s lol
Spanish was her first language I believe, and learned English after coming to America when she was a young child.
She had to pretend but that first Esperanza gave her away xD
I love her talking in Spanish
She's so pretty, she could speak any language and I would love it.
my brain just exploded
Wow, she’s so beautiful when she speaks Spanish.
I don’t remember when I found this out either but I was so surprised especially with them giving her an All American look ofc and how it wasn’t mentioned bc she was in character
Oh ish! Oh ish!! My NYC public school Spanish is finally kicking in!! I think I understood most of what she was saying
Why arent there any videos of her speaking Spanish 😭 I got excited to check out more
THATS SO FREAKING COOL!! Wait I’m super excited to find that out waittt
Funny how she says Argentina in Spanish but Mexico in English 😅
It really is a beautiful language.
Fun fact... her parents were BORN in Argentina & Mexico. Her grandparents (on both sides) are European. So, she’s a “bitsa” culturally, linguistically, & ethnically. There’s a LOT of us out here. ❤❤❤
She's still Latina since her parents were born in Latin America and they all speak Spanish. (Latino was originally used simply to designate those people in Latin America who spoke the Latin based languages. That's why Hispanic came about, to distinguish between Spanish speakers and other Latinos. Technically the French Canadians are Latinos because French is a Latin language. Haha)
Sooo her granddad was born in Europe and moved to Argentina?? That's suspicious that's weird
@@Cynnas huh not really, that's the "cleaned up" version of the history. In reality the term Latino was created by Europeans - Spanish and Portuguese more specifically - to distinguish themselves from white people born in Latin America that at the time (19 century ish) still called themselves europeans here, that's why around this time black and indigenous latinos were not recognized as latinos and until this day many people don't see black latinos as "real latinos". After Europeans created the term the US adopted it too and it became a geographic and social-political identity like a ethnic group, that's why Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Angolan, Cabo Verdean people etc don't fit into this group even though they speak latin based languages
Ps: I know that bc I'm a history teacher and in fact many latin sociologists (like Lelia Gonzalez for example ) talk about the construction of latinidad and this whole history
Latino and Hispanic are not racial groups. You can be White, Black, indigenous, Asian or whatever and still be Hispanic.
Yeah, well if you are born in Argentina you are Argentinian regardless of where your parents are from.
her dad is Danish Argentinian.
I didn't know she was latina till traveling pants came out and America Ferrera mentioned it in an interview
She is not mexican, her mother is from USA and her father from Argentina
Ella es tan linda. Para mí ella era Anastasia en 50 sombras de Grey y Christian era Matt Boomer.
This is nothing new my family are white Mexicans from Guadalajara Jalisco Mexico. My dad and mom are both of Spanish, German and Irish ancestry two generations removed from Europe on my parents and yes we white Mexicans/Latinos exist.
Yes yall do but we don't get any representation because of colorism that had affected me a lot we only get portrayed in negative stereotypes we get that yall are white but we actually have native ancestry
Knew this from sisterhood of the traveling pants
I love her
Whutt!!! That’s awesome!
Whaaat I would have never thought!
wowww I had no idea !!!! that’s so cool
I’ve been saying this for years and no one believed me
A secret? Many of us who watched the show when it was originally on knew she was a native Spanish speaker. It was brought up because of how fast the dialog is on the show and she had to learn to speak quite fast in English.
I get it must have been hard when she went to school and could not understand English, but it is a good thing her parents spoke to her in this language. The earlier you learn a language, the better you can be.
She from Argentina. Her accent is Argentinian and her whole family was from there. Her mom just has family and parents from Mexico but she has a lot more from Argentina. Her accent literally explains it.
I never knew this so cool
That’s amazing. I always find her so beautiful and always thought she was white. She’s beautiful regardless
Wow would’ve never guessed this
How awesome is that, so cool
She went to the private school in sw h town... How interesting.
Not a secret. True Gilmore fans know this
holy crap i never would’ve known that’s so cool
She's actually Germanic and Danish decent. But they lived in Argentina.
Bledel is french and because of her mother she is latina because mexicans are all brown
She is actually argentine descent. Germanic Danish is her dad
Wow, they even say throughout the show that rory can speak French and Spanish fluently, like in season 4 episode 1. It's kinda odd that they never showed it.
Alexis is very pretty
Su acento real es un mix entre Argentina y México
America is one of the few countries that's impressed by people knowing two languages.
Secret? I knew about it over 15 years ago when Gilmore Girls first aired. It's been on her Wikipedia page forever.
Omg it's almost like acting
Why couldn’t they just give us one and let her spit some game in Spanish
How am I now learning about this!
❤❤❤
Wow that is so cool to know
Huh. I would've never guessed. Not because of her skin color, I'm pale as sh*t and 100% Mexican and Spanish. I've never seen someone with 2 fully Hispanic parents have blue eyes. Green, yeah but never blue
Her parents arent ethnic, her father is from argentina but with european descent and her mother was american but moved to mexico when she was little
@@itsmeiishthere is not an ethnic latino ffs!!! learn something, IS JUST A CULTURAL TERM! latinoamerica is made of different races! Nobody cares where is your father or mother from, you born/adopt the nationality and culture of that latinoamerican country u are latinoAMERICAN
Shocked to here this she looks more causation
I had someone like her pictured as Snow White. Since they wanted a latina actress. Either Alexis, Anya Taylor Joy or Sofia Carson. They look the part.
And... This is how dialects were born 🙂🙃🙂🙃
Never been a secret
I would have never guessed just by looking at her which is why you can't judge somebody or their Heritage by looking at them
Her dad's father was born in Argentina, and is German and Dutch ancestry. Her dad's mom was of English, Irish and Scottish ancestry. Her mom is from the US and moved to México. She grew up in a Spanish-speaking household, but technically isn't an Argentine.
O wow had no idea ty
Oh, enlight me, how we (Argentinians) are supposed to look?
@@meganT9922 latino NÃO é uma etnia, você pode ser de qualquer cor sendo latino. Pensar que todos os latinos são morenos é como pensar que todos os estadunidenses são gordos (apenas estereótipos)
I literally work for a gambling addiction awareness program and I’ve talked to so many people who have actually had disordered gambling and the comorbidities to literally ANY mental health condition are so high. She’s technically already at risk due to her health history and her affinity to risk in spending. A link that is just being researched connects shopping addiction to gambling as well :) So often gambling problems start just because it’s a habit and just “something that you do” and then it escalates because it’s literally designed to be addictive and reward your brain. Poor Amber…. Like girl get some help please.
You commented on the wrong video,..
So cool
and then in A Year in the life she can't understand Emily's new housemaid who speaks Spanish. I found that totally weird because I knew she spoke it
Lmao, Berta is not speaking Spanish on A Year in the Life, and I see from this comment neither can you.
Y’all just found this out? She said it a long time ago…
Woah
❤
