Used to fly in on Braniff (Electras) from Dallas Tx when I was a child back in the 60s to visit my grandparents. Good memories of Des moines.
I'd sure love to see Alaska Airlines start service to Des Moines with nonstop service to Seattle.

What on God's green earth brought you to DSM? Not exactly a 'go-to' place for tourism! One wonders why there's not a Concourse B? Disappointed there isn't a 'selfie' scene as has been the practice in past vids. And no inflight views during taxiing/takeoff! Hmph! :)
Jason Moors Concourse B was planned and cancelled decades ago.
I am from Iowa and yes we don't have many touristy things but that's why we work hard and have fun on the weekends. College football is big in Iowa so if you're an Iowa or Iowa State fan like myself, that is something to do in the fall. In the summer, we have lakes that are huge destinations believe it or not. Okoboji is one of the best lakes and tourist destinations in the Midwest.
Plan is to build a Concourse B serving international passenger flights as soon as funding can be secured.

Kind of a depressing looking airport, looks more like a hospital.
Hi everyone. I have visited Iowa international airport and there's NO local restaurants. If you don't have a boarding pass, they don't allow you to eat. The downstairs areas is very inconvenient to new visitors. Over all, the place is very clean and welcoming. I would not recommend the airport for a place to eat without your boarding pass at hand. You will go hungry. Iowa people are not friendly at all. This is not a place to socialize or to get to know people. I personally don't like Iowa. Sorry but Iowa is really not for BLACK PEOPLE at all.
