I did a similar test on my channel with the XS I take vs none stock LS3 on a 416 LS3. The LS lost 17 ft lbs and 15 horse power below 4500. It only made about 3-4 peak. I also found the 103 was hard to tune and the idle was bad. In later did a test with 102 vs 92 throttle body. On the big engine that makes 530 rwhp, throttle body didn’t change much but the 92mm was better drivability.
@@Not_a_malibu I think the huge throttle body is the idle issue, not saying the intake doesn't contribute. I would love to test the rod mod intake on my car. I reached out to them, but no reply. Performance Designs are a bunch of lying idiots. I'm pretty sure there intake was the one that MSD designed for the LS3 that they decided to NOT make because it was not much if at all better than stock. The runners look just like the MSD atomic units, which they make for MSD!
Dam. Every time I see a video of one making more power and get ready to purchase one, i see a video or comments of one coming off because of issues. This is the fourth one I have heard about coming right off. One youtuber had a fuel leak inside the intake. 2 other ones didn't see a power gain. Now seeing your comments, a vacuum leak. Think I'm going to hold off on purchasing. Please keep us updated on their findings. This was the exact test I wanted to see. Was going to purchase one immediately after seeing your results. Then thankfully I checked the comments.
For sure. It sucked becuase it did make power. It was a bitch to get on for sure. But yea we couldn’t find the leak and then taking it off one of the towers inside broke. We sent it back and went with the fast high ram instead. Much happier with it for sure. If you don’t have the room the regular fast intake will also make the power.
@@Not_a_malibu Yeah I have no room. Its going in C6 vette with a non ZR1 cowl hood. I was always told that a normal FAST wouldn't be beneficial for the money throughout the curve on a stock cubed dry sumped LS3 with a nice HCI & exhaust... I have a GPI SS3 cam & MAST Mutant CNC'ed 11 degree heads. Also eventually will put on a novi 1500SL ECS blower kit that I have for it.... For the money on stock cubes it seemed like the Performance Design is the only thing that's an improvement everywhere over the curve on stock displacement motors other than ported & or rod mod stock LS3 intakes.
@@gn4life84 absolutely the best bang for the buck. Picked up power all the way through the curve over my rod mod. If they improve the issues I think it’s week be a great intake for the money. As of now, if I had a choice I would stick with the rod mod, which picked up power over the stock intake.
Hey boss, were you running a MAF or Speed Density tune? Can I ask what size TB you were running and how you mounted it to the VCM? I've got a 103mm bolted to the XS ready to install once I get my motor back from the builder, just curious how you got them together.
I was able to keep the vcm and squeeze it on. We ended up taking the XS off becuase it had a vacuum leak that we couldn’t get found. Then removing it, the tower bolt broke so we went with the fast lsxHR instead.
They were 460. We ended up taking the intake off last week. It had vacuum leaks that we could not get repaired. Sent it back to PD to take a look at it. So the verdict is still out on the intake

For sure man. I ended up taking it off. Idle was such a problem. Definitely not worth the small gains.

@@Not_a_malibu great info. Subscribing thanks!
@@gn4life84 appreciate it for sure. Feel free to ask any questions
Nice numbers 👍
I was happy with it over the rodmod not bad. So it’s about 25 over stock even better
