Thank you for encouraging singing. To all the positives you’ve mentioned, I want to add that is a direct path to joy and JOY is as much our birthright as clean water and air. I’ve got a friend who was told by a choir director, “just move your lips.” That’s a crime, imo. It squinched her joy factor for a long time. Fortunately for her, I’m happy to bellow out “I’ve been working on the railroad,” or whatever and she’s joining in. Keep a song in your heart- you deserve it and we NEED it.☮️

Love it! And totally agree. A big shift for me was to realize that your voice is jsut another musical instrument. And it's a blast to play!

Congratulations on hitting 1k! Also thanks for the video and tips. I've been playing open G the most, but I've messed with f# CGAD while practicing O' Death by Dock Boggs. Its a real dark and beautiful song that's also pretty simple. I figured it would make for a good first song on the banjo, It also has me practicing 2 finger style. A heckin good time, thanks again.

Thanks so much! Big milestone! I love O Death, but I've never actually played it! Maybe I'll do something on that coming up. If you're a singer, it's probably a perfect first song

Great advice, I totally agree with you! BTW, what was the name of the song in Sawmill tuning? I heard it before but can't remember the name of the song. Thanks for the videos!

Hey I'm glad you liked the video! That was just a little snippet of Gospel Plow - it's my go-to sawmill tuning song

Could you please do a video demonstrating how to play with a metronome? I have an app on my phone but I don’t know how to set it. I haven’t had time to look at a lot of your videos and I imagine you’ve already covered how to count the basic strum but I haven’t gotten it through my head yet. Can you direct me to a video about that? Thanks.

I actually have a video coming out on Friday that touches on this! But a couple of quick things: easiest metronome to use is built right into google. Just go there, and type "metronome". Then you can adjust the slider and hit the blue play button to get a beat.
I have a totally free video course that goes into the basic rhythm and all the fundamentals. Sounds liek that might be useful to you. you can get it at banjoskills.com/quickstart-guide .
