A big thank you. I can't believe how simple these things are once you find the right person to tell you. I've just very easily removed a metal base following your instructions.

Thank you for these tips! I broke my oven bulb and thought I’d have to call a repairman to fix it. You saved me at least a $100 call-out bill for something so minor. I’m very pleased with myself that it worked so well. 😊

THANK YOU!!!!! I had a broken light bulb in my electric oven. I struggled for 1/2 an hour trying everything I could think of to remove and replace it. It was even more difficult because the bulb is not on the back wall of the oven, it is on the roof of the oven so I had to have a flash light and a mirror to see what I was doing. I found your tip and used a long needle nose pliar just as you said by inserting first and then open and it worked !!!! Thank you, God bless you, what a life saver. 4:40 Nothing left but the metal part…. needle nose pliers, only I couldn’t find my needle nose pliers. So, after attempting with just pliers, and pliers wrapped with sticky tape wrapped sticky side up , I improvised with regular pliers and an old sock. It worked!
I had almost given up. But your. idea inspired me to keep trying and also appreciated seeing the direction of the turn. Lefty loosely, righty tighty.
I had been doing it right, but when there was no movement from all my first attempts I started to question myself. Thank you!
Your clearly demonstrated, down to earth, practical, super well explained tips here have me subscribed and so thankful.

Thanks so much for this info. This wasn't the first site I visited in my search for suggestions, and no matter what I tried, I couldn't remove a corroded outdoor light bulb that had broken off completely. After watching this video I crimped and crimped the metal collar till I could eventually pull it out. Screwed a new light bulb in, and it worked perfectly. Now I need to get some teflon or silicone spray so the base of the light bulb I just put in can be sprayed before it corrodes and gives me the same problem all over again.

Thank you, Dino! I finally managed to get that stuck oven light bulb out. The glass bulb broke off the base. The empty metal base was fused in the socket. I had to crimp the edges with needlenose pliers as you demonstrated. Your tips were invaluable. You can't imagine what a relief it is. Thanks again. Your channel deserves more sponsors!

You're a life saver mate. I was losing my mind about a cross threaded cap that just wouldn't budge. Stuck through with the needle nose technique and eventually it just fell out!
Now to vacuum up all the crap that fell out..

Thanks man! In the past I've used the needle nose pliers by grabbing the side and being able to twist it, but with these little light bulbs it was just bending it. I never thought about just shoving the needle nose inside and opening them to twist it out. You're a lifesaver!

thank you so much!!! I'd been waiting weeks for my husband to replace a bulb in a kitchen fixture, and when he didn't, I tried - that's when I saw it was broken! I searched on Amazon for a tool to remove that metal part, but none of them got very good reviews, so I googled and found your video! I went to my tool bench (yes, MINE), got a pair of needlenoses, and voilá! YOU helped me do it! :D

Thank you so much, my house is going on the market (for sale) TOMORROW and I had a couple bulbs in my light fixture die and then burst when I tried to get them out. I had to repair it ASAP so people didn’t think I had electrical issues!! Really appreciate your help!

Thank you so much!!! I tore off most of the base of a decorative bulb trying to get it out and thought the needle nose pliers pushed open wouldn't work, but I tried it and it did! Can't believe how fast I was able to get two broken bulb bases out with this method. I was about to sacrifice a potato. 👏

Your recommendation to twist it a bit in each direction really helped. Was able to get the bulb out of my oven and the new one in. Thanks Dino.

Thank you. This is excellent. I was at a loss how to remove a broken bulb from an above the range microwave over. Thanks to you I now know to use a needle nose pliers. Due to the severely confined space I need one with a bent tip. Thankfully my sister's old jewelry making kit had exactly what I needed and now I'm done.

Hi Dino! Thank you for all the examples on how to get broken bulbs out of sockets. I have two right now (different types) and I now feel confident on how to try to fix this. I'm still scared to do it, but I'll give it a try. One is in my bedroom overhead light (whole bulb stuck so looks like I'll have to break the glass and go from there), and the second one is in my oven. I've already shocked myself on that one trying to get the broken glass out (couldn't tell if the switch was on or off). With the power off, I tried getting it out using the internal bits, but they only pulled out of the base. So I figured I needed an electrician, but now I see the needle nose plier idea and will give that a try. Breaking the bedroom overhead bulb has me stressed... I think I will hold up a paper bag and tap it with a hammer so the glass doesn't get everywhere. Wish me luck!

grazie, thank you, arigato. I used the needle nose technique for my micro and it helped loosen the broken bulb. Once loosened I could unscrew it base. I've been trying to tackle this for months and you helped me fix it. Dino, you're a God send!

While I'd much rather you be here to remove it for me, I feel confident I can tackle the broken bulb in my bathroom now. 😉 Truly appreciate the effort you put into these different scenarios.

Fantastic! After 8 years of staring at a broken light bulb, I removed it in about 15 seconds using your trick of a glove and grabbing onto the central glass rod, which was all that remained of the bulb. Screwed off so easy I'm embarrassed it took me this long to do it. Thanks!

WOW! I love the idea of keeping a needle nose open.
Thank you for your wisdom and sharing it with everyone!
