      What performance of his would you say was incredible? How many incredible performances would you say he's given over the course of his filmography? Genuine question.

      he's ok not that great doesnt have a huge emotional range. He does the job well sometimes or is miscast if not.

      @@kayliahferrero Agreed, for me he's just a little better than Sam Worthington, Tom Holland, Jai Courtney, Hayden Christensen, Daisy Ridley, Orlando Bloom, Rob Patterson, Clive Owen and Joseph Fiennes when it comes to range. Austin Butler has shown more range in just 3 films (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Elvis, Dune: Part 2) in my opinion. I think we should reserve using the term 'incredible' for performances like Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood, Viggo in Eastern Promises, Crowe in The Insider, Fassbender in 12 Years a Slave, Denzel in Training Day, Kilmer in Tombstone, Pacino in Scarface, Berenger in Platoon, Cruise in Magnolia, Bana in Black Hawk Down, Oldman in True Romance, Cage in Joe, Thomas Jane in 1922, Damian Lewis in Keane, Jason Patric in Rush, Barry Pepper in Like Dandelion Dust and Guy Pearce in Lawless.

      @@thetalentof I'd say multiple performances were excellent and shows his ability to be a very fine actor and shows his potential: About a Boy, Jack the Giant Slayer, Sand Castle, The Banker, just to name a few. Actors are categorized in many levels. They all can't be first round picks like Daniel Day Lewis or Gary Oldman or Tom Hanks from years ago who are a handful of excellent actors who gave incredible performances. Then there is the next level of actors and the next and so on. I think Nicolas falls into that category of very good actors waiting for their moment and I for one look forward to seeing this new movie... and his next!

    • @thetalentof
      @thetalentof Місяць тому

      @@hankowens7986 Sure but he's had lead roles in over 10 features and pretty big supporting roles in over 15 features so I think if he was capable of giving an incredible peformance, he would've proved it already with that much opportunity behind him.

    This is how you make a trailer. Give tidbits of information without giving away the ending.
    The story looks intriguing, good cast, and a great director. I'll pay money to see this in the theater and hopefully others will as well so hollywood can see that we will shell out dollars to see a movie that is not based on a superhero, an existing - or re-boot of a former - franchise, or packed with action.

      @@ndl6827 That is a possibility ... but feels cheap and a complete waste of building up the juror being at fault.
      UNLESS ..... the entire movie is going back and forth over who is at fault. That isn't in the trailer, which would turn it into a bait and switch. And that's never good.
      Advertising one type of movie, only to actually be another. bad trailers have ruined perfectly good if not great movies.

      Yes, and that means he knows how to pick good scripts. The actual credit for the plots and characters belongs to the screenwriters he has worked with.

    • @timetheory84
      @timetheory84 12 днів тому

      @stevenwelkert7062 Yes, but you need a good director to do it justice. You need good actors to give the performances. You need good camera men for the camera work. You need a good cinematographer to photograph it well. And a filmmaker that will not re write your script. Many great scripts have been butchered by the wrong people. Also, a screenplay was meant to be 'filmed' and performed. Not just simply read. It is basically an outline to be made into an actual movie. It's not an end in itself. And Eastwood is smart about the material he works with. And in many cases elevates those scripts to greater heights. Similar to David Fincher and Martin Scorsese.

    • @stevenweikert7062
      @stevenweikert7062 12 днів тому

      @@timetheory84 My comment was a direct reply to the original comment which lauded Eastwood for "his storylines". Eastwood has not claimed a script writing credit for any of his films so the credit for the stories he chose to make into movies belong to people like Richard LaGravenese and Robert James Waller (The Bridges of Madison County) and David Webb Peoples (Unforgiven) and Paul Haggis and F.X. Toole (Million Dollar Baby) and Brian Helgeland and Dennis Lehane (Mystic River). A director can louse up a good script by bad direction but if the story is told well it is much more to the credit of the scriptwriter than the director. Note that I said scriptwriter, not author. Lots of books have been made into great movies but rarely have they been faithfully translated from the written source material into a film script. A good scriptwriter knows that books often have to be changed significantly because what makes a good read does not always make a good film. Example: The Shining which was a so-so story made into a great film because of the genius of Stanley Kubrick as a scriptwriter.
      But your larger point about all those other categories of people who together create a film is valid. Directors and actors get WAY too much credit for films and the scriptwriter, set designer, lighting and effects technicians, film editor, costume designer, composer and makeup artists WAY too little. Yes, they hand out Oscars for those people too but once the ceremony ends the contributions of those others are quickly forgotten. People extol Unforgiven and assume that it was all the work of Clint Eastwood as director, but no one then mentions the Oscar nomination for best original screenplay that went to David Webb Peoples, the best cinematography Oscar nomination for Jack N. Green, the best film editing Oscar nomination for Joel Cox and, the best art direction Oscar nomination for Henry Bumstead for that film. Honest directors will admit that they often get undue credit for all those others' work.

There looks to be a plot and characters with some type of development; very little CGI; and the most disturbing thing is there doesn't appear to be a super-hero or an alternate universe where all of this is taking place (not the time for a physics quantum mechanics debate). Oh no, sir! That's what YOU think! Juror #2 is actually a sci fi thriller that takes place in the year 3299. Juror #2 is actually the killer of this poor woman, but was placed into a coma and is in a virtual world via a computer brain interface. He thinks he is a juror on a case where he might have accidentally killed the woman that the defendant is accused of killing. If he steps forward and comes clean saving the man on trial, they know he is capable of good, and doing the right thing, so when they awaken him from the coma, he will be given a chance to pay for his crime and one day be free again. But if he he doesn't do the right thing, he will be sentenced to something worse than death. He will spend the rest of his life attached to this interface, and be forced to live out the final moments of the woman he killed over and over, repeatedly living her death, unable to escape until he one day dies of old age.

      @@ericecho5118 Logan, Deadpool, Phase 1, Wonder Woman, X2, Blade, Spiderman 2, Batman Begins, First Class have great acting, stories and production values, 100%. But more recently, superhero movies have switched to going for the cheap look - shooting on digital instead of 35, using green screen instead of built sets, staying on a sound stage instead of on-location, animated squibs, muzzle flashes, explosions and vehicles instead of real ones killing the visual thrill factor and having scripts more action set-piece focused than story focused killing audience engagement (Madame Webb, Bloodshot, Aquaman 2, The Marvels, Black Adam, Shazam 2, Morbius, The Flash, Venom 2, Multiverse of Madness, Love and Thunder, Quantamania).
