  • Henry Hall assumed responsibility for the BBC Dance Orchestra in March 1932 and the Columbia company wasted no time in getting the new orchestra on record, with over 100 tracks being recorded by the end of the year. From June 1932 here is "My extraordinary gal", the only version of this number by a British dance band. It was, however, also featured and recorded by American vaudeville stars Chick Endor & Charlie Farrell during their time in the UK that year. An upbeat tune, this is a great showcase for Henry Hall's BBC Dance Orchestra in its early days.

Beautifully clear for a 1932 recording, how do you do it?

      a) use a good condition original record b) record track in mono and save as mp4 file c) edit cautiously using software, eg, Magix Auidio, to decrease surface noise and apply some equalization to improve tonal balance in the original recording.
