This episode was brilliant. It shows that the Hornet wasn't invincible and how neither Hornet or Shadow care about how they're seen by the public, who deems them enemies to the law.

Absolutely! Professional acting on the parts of all. That's also what I appreciated in the old Superman TV series with George Reeves in the title role. There we had a serious actor who'd had a part in Gone With The Wind, no less, running around in a cape and red and blue pajamas---I didn't know that at the time, of course...I was watching on black & white sets---and letting us kids readily accept that he was indeed "a strange visitor from another planet."
Even when I watch it today, some 60 years later, I can't see any trace of falseness or self-consciousness in his of any of the other performances.
      Bravo.!

Besides the great acting, writing, and action scenes. Green Hornet, had a very hip cinematography. I like the dark grittiness of the night time scenes. But I also dig the seductive brass, and horn work. It's like the Green Hornet and Kato's life were happening in a seedy jazz, strip club. Watching these episodes again is pure magic.

I think, as The Green Hornet was debuting, people were already getting tied of Batman's camp antics. Plus, there were assurances from the producer that The Green Hornet wouldn't be campy. Many audiences probably didn't tune in because they assumed it would be like Batman.

    • @bufnyfan1

Actually, the late Van Williams has said he was glad the series only lasted one year. He said doing it was one of the most difficult things he ever did as an actor. The hours were incredibly long, the filming on a deadline and very taxing to the cast and crew. He said the only thing he liked about doing the show was the very good friendship he made with Bruce Lee that lasted for the rest of Mr. Lee's life. Mr. Williams has said that he himself was a very shy and reserved man and only had a very few friends and that Bruce Lee was one of them

Batman came first on ABC in 1966. Unfortunately, Batman was "campy" and the audience thought the "Green Hornet" would be much of the same. Instead, it was played dramatically and the audience simply didn't receive it well. In the years since and especially when the Green Hornet went into syndication, it was appreciated for just how great a series it was. I'd bet that if it had premiered before Batman did it would have done far better.

SMH!!! 😂 - Maybe Santa will bring me a new brain this Christmas. - Prayers please, haaa ha haaa!! LBVS.. 😊🙏🏽

If I were brit reed I'd find Mike axford another job because he is the super pain in the neck and if he did die it be his own problem because he can't take care of himself I found him to be annoyingish character that I not want him around that's because he is not a good listener and while he has some useful information some of the time and episodes and by that I mean 2 episodes nor 3 and not enough to leave a inpack on he cry because he wanted the green hornet like a baby and does not understand the danger he is in . if you like Mike that's fine, but for me this is a character that I don't want to see and the movie did not help . he is like Lois Lane from the old max Fleisher superman 1940s and has to be rescue by the green hornet nor the police I don't care if he did not did not know that reed was the green hornet nor not he is still a little brains and cannot take care of himself and cannot take a hint that is why he is doing to get himself kill and no green hornet may be able to stop in time he should have been a ice cream guy . where did his father find this guy ? I know that he is trying to help his friend son but if his dad was frame for a crime by the bad guys and killed then he should not be doing it and I would find him a safe job and if he doesn't like it then I will not be surprised if he death is in a episode if this show had a second season of the green hornet and I think that should have regular bad guys like this and that's it! I dislike this guy .

I know suppose to be at night or early morning when the crimes happen. But if in THE CITY ...they had street lights that certainly would have helped to see most of the show in actually SEEING the actors. Lousy director on this series'
