I'm actually quite blown away by this! Kickstart 1 is probably my most used 3rd party VST due to its simplicity and it looks like you guys have fixed the few things I felt were wrong with it. I'll be upgrading this weekend when I'll have a chance to actually use it!

It's something we might consider for later, but we want to keep Kickstart as fast and focused as possible. VolumeShaper is our sidechain tool for complete multiband control, with a fully editable LFO for all 3 bands.

So, i have different group busses in Ableton (12), each of them have a Kickstart 2 on them and contain several instrument tracks. I want all of the Kickstart 2's to be triggered by a MIDI Trigger, so all the instruments per group get sidechained exactly the same way. I also have parts in the song, where there is no Kick, but i still want the pumping effect to happen. Also it's not 4-on-the-floor. How can i use one single MIDI-trigger for all the Kickstart 2's across all group channels? In Ableton i can select a Sidechain-Input (for Audio triggering -that works well), but i can't set a MIDI-Input. And as i said: Audio triggering is not really an option, because there are parts where i want the sidechain effect for the groove, but no Kick is playing.
Why my sub stops playing when there is one bar with no kicks? Sub continues when the kick kicks in. Ducking is working fine while the kick is playing. If there is no signal from the kick channel sub won't play either.
Man I really want to get this but there seems to be a very small delay on sidechain mode. I have anti-click on but the envelope triggers slightly late. I'm in logic - anything I can try to fix it?

Would you say volume shaper or kick start is better for sidechaining? I’m still on 10 and having to setup a midi trigger with a negative track delay to compensate for Abletons terrible compensation on a group gets frustrating. Is kickstart susceptible to the same issues in Ableton 10?

Kickstart 2 is a separate plugin to Kickstart 1 - both can run side by side, and v2 won't replace v1 in your projects. Your Kickstart 1 instances should load with the same settings as before. If this is not happening, please mail us at contact@cableguys.com so we can look into this ASAP. Thanks!

Yes, use the Audio trigger mode and route your kick drum into Kickstart's sidechain input. Make sure that the looping mode is off, otherwise it will keep repeating when there are no hits.

No, Kickstart 2 is a fast and focused plugin designed for kick/bass sidechain ducking. It does not have preset saving, or more complex curves. ShaperBox's VolumeShaper is is our advanced 3-band multiband tool for more than just sidechaining, with a drawable LFO on all 3 bands, plus preset saving (though not saving for individual curves).
Cool. I think I'll buy it to support you guys. I don't think its leaving Devious Machines Duck in the dust though. I think many of the features are the similar, right? Except the Kickstart 2 sidechain + target waveform display is more useful. And I like how the adjustable end point works. Also I think it's cool that you can use arrows to move the ducked region left or right! On the other hand Duck lets you draw your own curves, & allows setting duck percentage levels for both a high and low crossover whereas Kickstart 2 has only a single crossover. For instance, if I want some amount of ducking applied to the high signal, and a different amount for the low signal, and some amount of signal unaffected, I think Duck is better on that one. It will be nice to have both and see which makes the producer happy!
This plugin looks awesome! I look forward to making use of it! 😃 One question though, I like to have the ducking effect on the bassline and pads, but during a particular song section, I want to mute the kick drum so all I hear are the pumping pads and bass with no audible kick drum. Is there a way to mute just the kick but retain the ducking effect?
That plug in is awesome, I bought it today and It has turned my world upside down. It simplifies sidechaining on a massive way. That plugin Would have had the power to save me hours of tedious learning. Super easy to use and graphically very appealing and simple
FL Studio handles that automatically (Kickstart tells FL Studio that latency has changed); you might just need to stop the song once and play again for the latency change to pick up (some DAWs do that immediately, not sure if FL Studio does).

We've found that it works well in many cases, but it depends on the source material - for example, if you have percussion with loud transients going on, they might trigger too.

Im working with Flstudio 20 and when i sidechain my channels and then go to the processing window it only says Node 0 and Node 1 but doesnt seem to recognize the sidechaining… could someone please help me out with that?

Does Kickstart 2 REPLACE Kickstart 1? If so it'll break a bunch of my old tracks.
You can install and use Kickstart 2 alongside Kickstart 1. For the DAW, they are independent plugins.

Or I am missing something here or it is not working properly in Studio One. I don't seem to make the audio sidechain feature work. Any help?

Do I need this If I already have Volume Shaper?
Kickstart 2 is the faster solution for sidechaining, and has new features (audio triggering and kick/bass waveform overlay) that are not (yet) in VolumeShaper.
I’m addicted to ShaperBox. Now I need this! Pronto!
