Excellent information and production values. Kudos. Regarding Mizuna, it is astonishingly productive. I have a large square pot on my balcony that produces more than my wife and I can eat. I harvest a few leaves every day separate the leaves (technically leaflets) from the stems, chop the stems into one inch long pieces, and serve in salads with lettuce, parsley, and green onions, all of them grown on my balcony. By the way, every year, I allow one mizuna plant to go to seed. It takes a while for the pods (similar to those of legumes) to fully ripen, but when they do, you are rewarded with enough brown, round, pea-shaped seeds for a large, in-the-ground garden -- all from one stalk.
Only home gardeners can truly enjoy heirloom lettuces because many of them wilt so easily. I like a butter head type called Tennis Ball. A favorite of Thomas Jefferson. Always enjoy your videos
Oh, you are such an inspiration on so many levels! Thank you from my heart. I am so very, very grateful to have found you. I agree with the comment below 100%!
My favorite greens this year have been green wave mustard, strawberry cabbage lettuce, pink mizuna, and Siamese dragon stir fry mixed greens. I can’t wait to plant more this fall!
Starting today i’m in an August heat wave for the week. Been waiting for it so when it’s over I’ll start sowing for fall/winter. I’m in zone 9b so no real worries for winter being too cold. (We used to somewhat regularly dip into the low to mid 20s a few decades ago but not so much now, rarely see temps below freezing these days.)
You’re I think the only person on the planet that could keep my interest in lettuce long enough to watch a video of it. You have truly improved on your editing and story telling. In the heat of the south my garden is definitely dwindling. My second season is just about here.
Hahaha! I know, 10 minutes on lettuce! But then again, you're used to it with HDIG, right? ;) Thanks for the sweet words, Dwayne. What are you planning to plant for fall?
Wow! That would be quite an undertaking! I need more space! But I'm glad you mentioned grains -- I WILL be focusing on using fresh grains in baking very soon.

Hi Nicole, Thank you for sharing the knowledge about lettuce 🥬 I so learned so much for your channel. I absolutely agree with home lettuce or any vegetable 🌽 is best from a local farmers or your home garden ,it just doesn’t have the taste . Anyways I thank you 😊 for the tips and kindness.
Your channel is awesome. I love how well made and interesting they are. I have been binge watching. And now I am so inspired that I also started my own channel. I’m still quite shy with the narration. I hope I’ll be as confident as you someday. Keep on growing!
Could we get a list of winter hardy veggies? Lettuces, etc? I'm new to ...winter. Also, BakerCreek is like 80% sold-out of seeds. There isnt much actually available. Any back-up source for winter heirloom seeds?
I have been looking for a series like this! Thank you! Can you please list the lettuces in the description and maybe itemize where in the video you talk about them for future reference. I've seen some UA-cam videos where if you hover over the timeline it will pop up a description on the timeline of the duration and description of the segment. Thank you soo much for this. I will order all of the lettuce you have described and try them this year.

Have you tried this wonderful leaf lettuce in Switzerland it is called nüsslisalat, but in the US it goes by mache or corn salad? I don't understand why this isn't a thing here in the US. It has a slight nutty flavor and is delicious served with slices of boiled egg and a light vinaigrette dressing. We are in zone 7 (Virginia) and planted ours in late summer. It did amazing over the winter and we continually harvested fresh lettuce even after a few snow falls and low temperatures. Give it a try. Yes, I know! Maybe for 2021's garden?
Hi Nicole I'm wondering the lettuce in 4:39 is soo huge. Is that the variety or because of the soil is so rich?
I suspect that's a kind of lettuce (cabbage?) that generally grows huge! I can find out what he's holding in that photo.
