I've started spraying neem oil on my plants once per week because its far more practical and beneficial for both myself and the plant since I don't have to spend what little time I have inspecting the myriad of plants that I depend on for almost all of my meals, daily, but also because when infestations strike I won't get them too late. My plants are far, far happier, and healthier since I adopted this protocol.
I also only apply fertilizer via a foliar spray (also once per week) that consists of seaweed or fish-based organic fertilizer. My garden is a no-dig garden and I'm closing in on the point where I can live self-sufficiently off it for all my meals. Love the videos, and the passion exuded. Keep it up!
For better carrot germination: I water deeply before sowing, sprinkling a very thin layer of soil, then cover the soil with a large piece of cardboard for a few days to help retain moisture and block heat. As soon as tiny carrot sprouts start to appear we're good. This technique worked perfectly for me.
Anyway, I love your channel. Great content. Keep up the good work!
There is so much charisma in your personality....just love watching your videos.
I love your garden! Looks like it is fun and relaxing to hangout in a serene place like your yard, beautiful yard you have, love it.
Three times did my plants get clobbered by wind and torrential rains, but they have survived! This is my first serious year for a garden. I am doing containers on my deck. So far so good! I'm already planning for next year!
I'm so glad everything's been going well! Container gardening can be tricky -- well done!
Thank you for being a part of this collaboration😀👍👍🌱 that was an amazing video. Keep up the good work🌱🌱
Hi love you sponsor Boni is the major supplier to the big box stores . This FYI crushes the local farm suppliers . Please pick your sponsors
Repent , Jesus Christ is coming back,Repent,
Sometimes a garden feels a bit like a battle but bad weather and mishaps are quickly forgotten. Thanks for the bean growing guide to the honeydew blighters!
You're very welcome!
Gotta love that sparkly joy you have with.. basically everything you do! Nice toolbelt also, going to look into that, you gave me a great tip there.
Very ice garden. I’ve been gardening for 65 of my 69 years. One thing I’ve learned is no gardening year ever goes as we plan. That’s one of the fun things about gardening. It’s not giving up to a problem, it’s using skill to adapt and still get success
Yes, I absolutely agree! I love that each year is different to the next and an opportunity to learn and innovate!
After watching a few of your videos, I now know why my box gardens that I attempted to grow in Phoenix Arizona ALMOST worked. They had big leaves, the were doing great, and veg was growing, but they ended up being extremely small. Thank you for the tips. I appreciate all of the work you all are doing.
Hi Nicole! I love your videos. I’m learning so much! You may want to try to introduce a batch of ladybugs to your garden. When you release them at dusk, they will not fly. They may clean out all your mealy bugs overnight! They’ll eat your aphids and spider mites too. 😊
All evidence of great soil preparation. Wonderful garden. There is a blueberry expert in i think California who has 20-30 varieties growing all in containers in his back yard. It's a sight to see.
Wow, that DOES sound amazing!

Nicole, your garden looks like heaven 😍
Thank you! It IS my heaven!
Love your garden, girl!
Thank you!!
Great video once again. So much information during the walk thru! I just completed covering my path with wood chips. This will save me time weed whacking my paths.
Good for you! I should do the same
New to your channel. You do a great job of presenting your material in a way that makes it so easy to understand. I just purchased Bakers Creek seeds this year for the first time and so far I am loving them -- 100% germination on my tomatoes, broccoli and cauliflower and 95% on my peppers,
Beautiful garden! You are so positive! Thank you for sharing your experience!! 😍🍀
I love what you do! Beautiful yard and garden you have young lady, love it. Nice toolbelt by the way!
Hi Nicole.. Good that you have planted many vegetables and fruits.
Beautiful yard!! Excited for this video thanks for sharing

so early to catch the moment video posted, I am happy!
I love your content and your energy!
Wow the garden is looking so great!
Thank you!!
I love your work, i love the depth in which you explain the growing process. Ive just spent 2 years doing a little urban food garden project, i just uploaded the journey to it. I want to grow food for old people, thats next.
Your garden is beautiful. You are doing a great work there, congratulations!
wow it's grown so fast. Good job Dr. Garden I remember when I was 5 or 6 years old, I tried to plant longbean and corn. Result for longbean is quite successful but for corn not too good. but the lovely parts are when you see the whole process from the first shoots. so amazing when they are grown big. FYI the longbean leaf can also be eaten with local recipe from my hometown, using coconut milk with some spice. so delicious.
WOW! I had no idea about the longbean leaf! What's the name of the recipe? Can I look it up online?
Beautiful garden, keep it up Nicole.
Wow ! your garden is growing very fast and its beautiful.
Thank you for sharing Nicole. Since i seen your post on Instagram i have been looking forward to this video. I miss having a garden. Hopefully one day again. Prayers.
I'm so glad you can enjoy a taste of mine in the meantime, Terry. I hope you're doing OK.
Garden looks great!
This is an awesome shows, I love all the info you provide, just awesome.
I'm so glad you enjoy the channel!!
i love your every presentation & lovely smile👍, from Bangladesh.
I grew a walking stick plant, it was so much fun to grow. I was able to make a walking stick for my mom. I am also growing Tree Collards, they are another fantastic perennial. They grow well and live 7 -10 years. I started with one and now have about a dozen. 😊
Wrt the peppers, I've found out that really trimming them (once) by more than half when they are seedlings makes a world of difference. Can't wait for the tomato harvest(s). Cheers!
I love seeing her garden ssoooooooio green. I can totally compare it before when she started her own garden.
I have the same shirt but in pale blue! :D It looks so good on you, Nicole.
By the way, I'm a hobby gardener myself and I've watched your 'How does it grow' videos for a long time (my all time favorite is the Amalfi lemon documentary!) and I'm super happy that you make gardening videos now. Your garden looks amazing!
Kind regards
Selene
love your Garden series
I'm so glad!
Nice garden.
You are doing a great job, your garden looks amazing!
So nice. I didn't know about this new video series.
thanks for your effort from Egypt😁❤😁❤
garden is looking good! thanks. hope to do a tour of my garden this weekend
Such an inspiration ;)
Love these garden videos! Thanks for sharing ☮️💜 🌱
Neither you nor your garden is ugly , rather beautiful. I appreciate your no dig and no fertiliser approach. Feed the soil organisms, not the plant.
great video! great editing!
amazing garden
Hi Nicole,
Let me say wow !! You’re garden is absolutely beautiful.
Thank you for sharing have a beautiful day.
Thanks for watching, Michael! Have a great day too.
TRUE FOOD TV thank you Nicole☀️😃

Thank you so much, Celeste! So glad you enjoy them.
Love your show.
Are you going to make a video of you harvesting? Are you going to make a video using neem oil?
😘 Thanks TFTV..... and NICOLE......
You're very welcome!
You have amazing plants, the walking stick kale I would like to try. Thanks for sharing your garden.
Thank you for watching! Happy gardening.
Really fantastic garden 👍👍🇬🇧
Many thanks!!
I have the same type of netting for my blueberries, the birds eat a hole right thru it. They make a much heavier type of netting that the birds cannot chew thru you might want to check it out. Its commercial grade.
Thank you! I will do that. A farmer told me that chicken wire is the only thing they won't chew through.
You might want to hit your eggplant and green pepper plants with Epsom salts. In some areas the soil is deficient in magnesium and those plants need it to set fruit, I was told that by someone and it worked for me. Thanks for the tour.
Thank you for the tip!
We grew China jade this year too. It's coming along beautifully! Reminded of the times I was in China.
Those long beans are good to stir fry with minced pork
Yay for China Jade! And thanks for the long bean tips! Do you cut them into pieces?
That zucchini romanesco is huge wow 🤩
such a natural beautiful ...
Wow, u, ve given me a lot of ideas Thank u.
Your snake beans are just starting to bloom and put off pods. You used scissors to cut them, however, if you twist the pod twins in opposite directions a few times until they come off, you will save the fruiting stems which bloom and fruit again as opposed to damaging them with a cut at the tips.
Awesome tip!!!! But just for clarity: I didn't snip the fruiting stem, just the tiny stems that attach the bean to the main fruiting stem.
Such an interesting looking zucchini and plant!! Didn’t know there are vining type zucchini!
I have the red long bean variety as well! I grew up eating only the green kind. Loved how my grandma cooked them with ground pork! Only recently learned about the red variety so I’m growing it for the first time. It keeps its color through cooking. So yummy cut small in stir fries!!
I'll be harvesting my first red ones in just a couple days! Excited!
I enjoyed hearing and seeing your garden update! Our gardens are very similar in the types of vegetables we grow so it was nice to compare central Iowa progress with your location ( Eastern US ?) For sure the Catbirds like blueberries as much as we do but I also think the Catbird is cool.
Thanks and Best of Gardening!
Thank you for sharing with us I learn a lot from you.
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Fantastic
Great video! Can you do a video on sprouting mango seeds? And keep us updated of what the mangoes look like,
I have four mango trees growing, they are young. It’s so fun, I suggest it to u!
Ooo, and maybe change it up, like sprout coconuts! So fun.
you are very interesting... your passion for plants is awesome
Thanks a lot!
Beautiful garden😍
Thank you so much!
Love these. ❤️ Thank you!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! xo
You're such a natural in front of the camera.
Thank you! That's lovely to hear.
I love mushroom compost too. I use that in conjunction with leaf compost.
Yes!! I'm working on making leaf compost to use next year.
Try a birdbath near the blueberries. Sounds counter-intuitive but it should decrease the bird problem.
even with your bugs it's a beautiful garden.
Enjoyed the video very good information. And enjoyed the camera work was really cool
Awesome, thank you!
Heirloom tomatoes are very hard to grow! You’re doing great!
Peaceful garden
Thank you nikole mam...kind your information..😘😘
My pleasure 😊
That’s crazy, I have never seen a mealybug move that fast. 🤣
nice wellies
Beautiful garden. The lower leaves should be pulled from the kale. That improves the upward growth/thickening of the stalk. Keep it looking like a palm tree.
oh my god
these long beans
are indeed
loooong 😳
Its absolutely fantastic you should see mine it's like aftermath of a natural disaster. Also I'm growing veggies in growbags for now .
Where can I buy that garden tool belt? These videos are so helpful. I just placed a large order from Baker Creek Seeds too.
...you can cook the leaves of the bolted lettuce (the bitterness goes away)...to get more òut of your lettuce
I like to leave a few of my zucchini rampicante on the plant so they will mature into a very long thin butternut squash.
Good looking garden Nicole. I'm sorry about your eggplant and remember long bean is also Bora 🙂
Should put down some mulch between your beds. keeps the weeds out. Can get it cheap are even for free from a local tree service company.
Your vegetable patch is so amazing. The variety of crops is something we could only dream of growing outside in the UK!
It still fascinates me to see differences in climate as you say carrots are notoriously difficult to grow. Here, carrots are one of the easiest veggies to grow but to get a good crop of tomatoes or peppers is nigh-on impossible outside.
Yes, isn't that so interesting?! I know slugs are a huge problem in the UK too, and luckily I don't have to worry about that.
TRUE FOOD TV There are no slugs in America???
@@TMcB23 we have slugs here in the US, here in CA we do :-(
@@TMcB23 So, SO many slugs in CA. They're a nightmare.
Never seen those long beans before, nice. I use a spray against the insects the ants are harvesting. The spray i make from water, some ethanol and some washing up liquid. The ants dont die though.
Hi lovely Nicole😊. Good to see you again. Wonderful video and great that you can grow long beans.A simple Indian veg we make is long beans with potato and all the regular spices. No onion garlic or ginger. It tastes very good with roti or dal+ rice.
Your blueberry bushes are spendid. We get dried version only. Blueberries are good to cure cough also.
Take care. Have a good one.
Tell me more about the long bean recipe. What spices do you use? Lovely to hear from you again!
@@TrueFoodTV Hi. The recipe is quite simple. First we cut the beans into half inch pieces and potatoes into half inch cubes ( about 200 gms + 150 gm combined).
Next we heat about one tbsp of mustard oil (or sunflower oil) to medium high. Then add 1/3 tsp cumin till it splutters Reduce flame and add 1 pinch of Asafoetida+ 1/2 tsp turmuric+ red chilli powder+ salt to taste+ 1 tsp coriander powder. See to it that spices are not burning. You may add a spash of water. Then add the cut beans + potatoes, cover cook till tender. Some people add tomatoes to it as well. We don't. Try with next batch of beans. Write to me if you have a question. Hey good luck and take care.
I think your dark colored "blueberries" might actually be mountain huckleberry, Vaccinium membranaceum. I pick them in the wild here in Southern NY State. They're kind of flavorless but good for jams.
"Peter out" What's up (or not up)?
Ha ha I keep hearing that.
I will be looking for seeds of the zucchini rampicante. Beautiful.
Watching from Sri Lanka
Hello Sri Lanka!
In Italy I don’t use neem oil and water only also because oil doesn’t mix well in water .. so I use it with insecticidal soap
