Do you guys need funding to venture back to the reactor?
Take lessons. Get dive certified. Have at least 3 sets of gear. Attach lanyards where the diver can reach so he can disconnect if in trouble. Yanking on the rope is a great way to get your diver tangled. Consider taking a pump to allow you to vacuum the area to reduce dust at the entrance.
You're playing around in an area that would give issues to experienced divers. You're not experienced. Someone will be lost if you don't change your ways.
