How to find your Amazon gift card number.

- There are no instructions on the packet the gift card comes in. It's all quite mysterious and a little nerve wracking to me. There are plenty of numbers on the packet, but you have to open it up to find the card. The numbers you want are on the card.
First, rip the top off the packet. Scissors might help as long as you don't cut up the card inside.
Remove the card. Not so easy to do!
Peal away the strip covering the gift card numbers.
Go to Amazon and Your Account. Look for Gift Cards. You can redeem there.
Next year, cash please!

She ended up just making the purchase on her credit card for grandma. But after she got home, with what she thought was a useless card, she did some searching and found your video! Now we got it open and can use it. She is very happy she DIDN'T end up wasting / losing $100! And, since you helped so much (and are pretty much the only person on the internet who bothered telling us how to do it) I just had to get on my account and come leave you a thank you on here. Just spent an hour echatting with a rep from Amazon. The rep never told me to simply tear open the holder card and look inside. He/she kept telling me the number I was reading was not an Amazon number. Tempers were about to flare so I decided to check out UA-cam. As soon as I saw you start to peal off the strip to expose the real number I stopped the video and in a couple of minutes I had activated the darn thing. Thanks. Now I'll have to back and watch the rest of your show. ;-)
I know the pain you felt! Insanity is rampant in the world and this explains why I never ask for help! If it's not on google or youtube I have to figure it out or just die. The type conversation you had would give me a heart attack. I'm so glad my video was there to help! Rich
One would think they would put: Tear here/Open here/Gift card inside, written on the packaging.
Yes, yes, yes! Amazon assumes since they are such a big company and everybody uses them for everything that explanations are unnecessary. A simple little, as you say, Tear Here/Open Here, would be very helpful. Thanks, friend. Rich

After fighting with Amazon by phone and online, after reading another video with huge numbers of questions and answers--AFTER months of trying to figure it out, I found your directions. And SURE enough there was a card inside with the scratch off!! I've had the card for 6 months and could not figure it out. And all this time there it was. Thank you for posting this video Rich. It helped me figure out why my mother in law and father in law who are 80+ couldn't locate their code number. They didn't realize that the card was inside the cardboard envelope. Amazon couldn't help her with that when she called them. I emailed her your video in case she needs to be walked through it.
If some little instructions were on the package, everyone would know what to do. There are numbers outside the package and doesn't look like anything you can open. My man you are an actual life saver. I'm in my 30s and very tech savvy and could not figure this out either for the life of me, since there's absolutely ZERO instructions or indication of any kind on the gift card "package" (you wouldn't know it's just a package that contains the card!). I thought someone had number generated my card code already and used it in between me buying the card and getting home and was ready to call customer service haha.

you made my day. I called Amazon and the customer service representative told me to scratch off the code. BUT she did not tell me to open up the envelope to find the card. So I was scratching all over the black outside of the package. Then I came to youtube, and this was the only video that actually showed me how to find the card and code. I am 76, pretty intelligent but the communication from Amazon was piss poor. Thanks Rich.

Rich - this was genius. I've been sitting here scanning, punching in numbers, trying this and that. Because it says "card number" on the back. I have exactly what you showed. And 10 seconds ago, I added the card amount to my balance. You did me a great service. Thank you! From the number of comments, it looks like I'm not alone! No where on the packaging does it suggest there's a card inside.

Nowhere on the gift card pack does it say that the actual gift card with the 15 digit code is inside!
I am an elementary school teacher who received the card as a gift from a parent at the end of term. I was cringing at the thought of having to email them to ask for the receipt.
You helped me solve a frustrating puzzle and for that I am very grateful.

Oh My God ! you saved My Life as I spent 1 hour to find the code for my 8 years old daughter. Got to the point that I was so mad as it costed me 50 bucks and had to drive to the 7 eleven to get it during the lock down. Just to please my kid !

To be clear, the reason they hid the code inside the packaging is because thieves could easily take pics of the code if it was visible, then keep checking it until it gets purchased, then steal your money.
