My personal belief on the age of the mane six is that no one really knows. I believe age works differently in Equestria and that ponies age slower but live longer than humans. Proven by granny smith and grandpa pear being young when ponyville was founded. Not to mention the alicorns. Plus, this theory would fix many inconsistencies that the show brings up regarding age. So basically, One year of aging for humans may be equal to one month of aging for Equestrian Ponies. It definitely explains the cakes.
How many moons is that?
I think it would be harder to find out what one year is on there planet. we don't even know how long a day is for Equestrian.

Wait, also country all the summer Sun celebrations, or twilight’s birthday, or gala parties, or cider season in the late summer autumn, and also in season 1 ep 11 it’s winter but in ep 13 it’s autumn again, that means a whole year passed there. Also, counting the times cmc have summer Camp with sisters and Maybe time in equestria girls (might not be the same)
I Got it all to 15-16 years from she meet her friends until her coronation.
Jim Miller said in his interview to Equestria Daily that they didn't narrow down the mane 6's ages, and just assumed that they were somewhere between 16 and 21 at the start of the show. But Lauren Faust also said that she considered the fact that horses age much faster than humans, but the ponies in MLP are something between horses and humans. So the bottom line is that there is no answer.

Well horses typically live on average 23 to 30 years but judging from the equestria girls series you about hit it spot on cause they’re high school girls however given the fact that some of them such as rarity own big businesses they should be grown adults but even then when you get out of school you don’t usually go out and own a big corporation to start unless your family members are self made billionaires and want to hand part of that off to you

I've done my calculations, and I think that in season 1 the mane 6 are all 14, except for Fluttershy who is 15, and the ponies can live alone and sell and drink alcohol, but not in the human world, is because they grow faster and die earlier then humans. however, since horse years aren't the same as human years, but 3.5 times shorter, the mane 6 ends up being around 49-50, and Fluttershy is around 52-53. (I might be wrong tho. I'm not good at horses nor math)
I like the headcanon of the mane 6 being in their late 20s during the start of season 8, this proposal definitely supports it! I refuse to believe that the mane 6 are any younger than 25 (by the start of season 8) as I actively refuse to experience the “realisation that you’re older than your favourite teen protagonists” with them just yet!
I would approximate Twilight's age by the beginning of the show to be college age... 18-21 or thereabouts. So, by adding what you have said, she would be 25-28
Counting winters, you forgot that time the Apples and Pies decided to spend Hearthswarming together and Applejack accidentally ruined in it for the Pies. This makes it eight years actually between Twilight going to Ponyville and becoming ruler of Equestria!

Season 4, it established that the Summer Sun Celebration they're having is the first since Luna came back, so Winter Wrap Up's episode was out of order in universe.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember the season 4 premiere Celestia stated that it's the first Summer Sun Celebration since Luna's return. Meaning seasons 1-3 is all one year.
I've always assumed since the Slice of Life nature of the series, we're viewing episodes out of order to the actual events in a certain extent.
This would explain how you would have a Winter Wrap Up and then a Hearths Warming episode soon after that or later on a Nightmare Night episode happening right after a letter Hearth Warming episode and so on.

EQG absolutely destroys the age continuity, Sunset is a full grown woman yet is a teenager in high school in EQG, the CMC are like 10 and they're freshman in high school in EQG.
Don't forget the other students, there's Feather Weight, Diamond Tiara, Silverspoon, cameos and probably other ones, but those are the ones I remember
also some of the crystal high students are based on canterlot characters that seem to be in their like 30s or 40s, and also the fact that the main 6 and sunset seem to be high school seniors for like 3 years, eqg makes even less sense than the show
I wish they kept the old design of the ponies not the newest version, it kinda scares me
I have a sort of weird idea that Equestria has at least 2 winters, a natural winter and the winter that Hearth's warming takes place during. As well as 2 falls before each winter with Nightmare night being on one of them, likely after the summer.
The only problem with this theory is the fact that the Cake Babies and CMCs never age.
I don't know what their canon ages are but I always hc them as young adults cause they are kinda doing young adult things like figuring yourself out, pursuing your dreams etc and they're fully independent from their parents basically. Obviously not everyone's life begins around that age but I feel with the amount of experience they seem to have and the general themes that's the most likely area. 18-25 something like that. With the mane six ranging a bit within that area. (The only comparative ages known is that Fluttershy is one year older than Pinkie)
The mane 6 are ancient pony lore for G5 since "Dragons haven't been seen in Equestria for generationzzz"(Pipp? Sunny?)

Since the ponies EQG counterparts are suppose to be in their mid to late teens, i often thought that maybe the Mane 6 were possibly somewhere in their late teens to early 20's but when the time skip in "The Last Problem" happened many assumed that the time skip took place at least 20 or maybe even 25 years in the future, and if that was the case it could be that by that time the Mane 6 were probably somewhere in there early to mid 40's at least that's what i think.
I thought that too but the evidence behind how theyre able to both own and run a school with other ponies putd them at a later age. Although, this could mean that Equestria doesn't run the same way earth does. As for the time skip, rarity had gray hair. That means it's later in her life where she's starting to be seen as an elder. And since they're all around the same age, the same would apply. But I could be wrong.
Assuming that the human world and Equestria progress time at the same rate, which we have no reason to believe they don't, and the Equestria Girls Mane Six are in high school, that would land them anywhere between 16 - 18, however... the CMCs are also in that school, which would make them freshmen, at least 13 years old up to 15 which we're fairly sure they are around 10 years old. (Based on how they act and how they're treated.) So, just like Dragon Ball Z's power levels. Their ages are unreadable :( but... nevertheless, great video! :)
There are plenty of reasons to believe that Equestria and the Human world operate with different progressions of time, but no one wants to go over the many plot holes in the first Equestria Girls movie again.
In the VS Wikia, Their ages are in their early 20s. But there are others that said they’re in their late 20s. Either way, they are probably adults.

I was just thinking today about time in Equestria. (And also I remembered when Bright Mac tell Pear Butter that they met before I think 131.400. hours what is somewhere around 15 years and then + let's say 3 years and exactly 18 years).

Speaking of time, remember that one episode where Celestia is talking to Twilight about Luna and goes "its been a year"? Which was kinda weird since it had been, i don't know 2 or 3 winters by that point.
It's not the only time it happens as the summer sun solstice is one the first day of the year. The one after the pilot is in season 1.
I think that lots of the winter episodes happen around the same time. Like for example, the town could have a big hearts warming party then aj and pinkie pie go to pinkie's family's house for the actual holiday day.

Lauren was clever when she made the show. She made it in a way that gets everyone that watches it to connect with the characters. Partially because no one will ever know how old they actually are. It's really clever
I think the ages of the mane six would go like this, in my personal opinion anyways. I'm gonna throw on loose series start ages, too, for the fun of it.

Applejack, 18
Pinkie Pie, 18
Rarity, 17
Rainbow Dash, 16
My reasoning for the above is fairly simple, but I've gotta type it out, and it'll probably be pretty messy
Fluttershy is probably the oldest, solely because she was seen as taller in the flashbacks during the Cutiemark Chronicles.
Then there's Twilight, who I can see potentially being a pony college graduate at series start, given how often it appears that ponies just start working one they've 'fully grown' - Twilight likely calling herself a researcher for Celestia.
Applejack and Pinkie I can see being very close in age, but with AJ being a month or two older than Pinkie. But both being a form of farm pony, it makes sense for them to be old enoiu6to be trusted to leave the farm ones their 'adult bodies' came in so Applejack could make deliveries and so Pinkie could move to Ponyville to become a baker and party planner.
Rarity, of course, runs her own business, and her family likely owned the Carousel Boutique for a long time and that Rarity lived there likely alone for a significant portion of her life due to her parents always being away (hence her always babysitting her life sister so often.
And then there's Rainbow Dash. We KNOW that she was younger than the other pegasi and was essentially pushed up a level in flight school/camp to compete with older ponies, and she has more of an air of immaturity about her than most of the other mane 6 (you kind of just expect it from Pinkie tbh) that gives the impression of someone who hasn't long graduated from school and has recently gotten a new job. Also, add the fact that she was overly coddled in a way and DEFINITELY spoiled by her overly attentive and supportive parents, I can see her having left home ASAP once she became an adult in Equestria's eyes.
So, yeah, my take on the Mane 6 ages thing!
what about that one episode when Fluttershy says: "I'm older then you" to pinkie
Thank you for listing all the winter episodes, however I found one small error. Wasn't the christmas carol inspired episode and the new six cleaning episode back to back, implying they were at the same time, making it 6 winters not 7.
Those were different seasons
I was always under the belief that the Mane Six were in their 20s when Twilight and Spike first came to Ponyville. Youngest to oldest: Twilight, Dash, Pinkie, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Applejack. I've figured Spike to be 16-17 by this point, giving Twilight enough time to reach her level of education, and for the others to establish themselves business-wise. (Thinking Applejack, Rainbow Dash and Rarity primarily)
Jim Milller and Lauren Faust confirmed that Spike should be in his Pre-teens by the time he received his wings.

I honestly think that Rarity is the oldest but Applejack is the same age but a couple of months behind as Applebloom and Sweetie Belle are the same age. I believe both are around 25-28.
at the beginning of the show the cutie mark crusaders seem to be pretty young like around 9-10 but by the middle of the show they seem much older like the episode where applejack leaves applebloom home alone and the episode where rarity is sad that sweetie belle is growing up, they have to be like around 12-13? and if twilight was really there for 7 years then that would mean the cmcs would be like 16 or 17 by the end which makes no sense
not to mention the cake twins who were born in like season 1 or 2 and never even aged at all???
well... at the end of the day it's just a cartoon and i guess we're looking way too much into it lmao

This has like nothing to do with the vid lol but I think I’ve divided the main six into duos. When I began my process of dividing them,I looked at similarities and elements. I soon realized it would never be able to connect equally. I never put in opposites. Applejack and rarity were opposites in fashion (you know what I mean) pinkie and flutter shy, pinkie is extrovert, and flutter shy is introvert. Lastly, twilight and rainbow dash. Twilight is like a bookworm, while rainbow dash couldn’t care less. This is a random comment btw. Nothing with the vid.

If you know the avarage of a ponies life span and multiply it by ten and you have how many years between Twilight and sunnies rule

The MLP timeline is certainly confusing. The episode order doesn't always make chronological sense. Celestia's lines in "Princess Twilight Sparkle" also suggest that Season 4 takes place a single year after the Season 1 premiere. A lot of episodes were crammed into a year if that's really the case.
I'm a little confused on one detail in your video. Doesn't Yona say that yaks celebrate Snilldar Fest during Hearth's Warming, not Yikslurberfest?
There is no bases for an argument of the Mane 6 being teenagers at any point in the shows run except for flashbacks. All but one of them have jobs at the start of the show, 3 of them live in their own homes, and 2 are running their own businesses. Also, we know they all aren't the same age as the only canon instance of age given to them is that Shy is a year older then Pinkie. At the youngest you can argue that they started out at the low to mid 20s range, with Twilight most likely being the youngest in the group.
In the latest TYT episode, it is mentioned that G4 and G5 may be separated by a thousand years
I always casually averaged them around 25 because of the Four Score story
1000 years seem to be a common trait between mlp generations remember the new episode of making your mark when a blanket was found the father said its been around for ten generations so thats around 1000 years since the prophecy.
At least here in Sweden we count one generation as being around 30 years (The time it takes for a new born to have children of thier own). So I'd say that it's been around 300 years since the prophecy was made.

I think they could be perhaps teenagers during the middle of mlp. (This is for their age) My theory is backed up with the magic portal to the human world. Of course their age could be changed just so they’re teenagers. Anyways there is my theory!

When my daughter asked me wat age is Twilight, I was thinking arround 20 based on her thinking capabilities. Then I started thinking like when she started Celestia's school of magic she was probably 6 years old because learning magic as a filly would be more advantageous. And then she would sit in filly school for about 3 years, and then around 4 years in school so when Celestia send her off to ponivile she is in her 13/14 maybe even 15 becase Celestia said it was hard to let go of Twilight and she held longer to her.
I think 14 or 15 makes sense because when Twilight travels through the portal in Equestria girls her human form is basically still in high school.
BUT!!! I think that ponies age slower than human, because the 3 fillies (apple bloom, scotaloo, and sweety bell) barely age in the 7 years this series is supposed to last.
So if ponies age slower than humans, twilight could have been bigger than 15 (the age her human form is) she could have been arround 20. And a 20 year old pony in human years would mean arround 16 or so it would make sence.
Because a 1000 year humam celestia is also ridiculous 😅.
Seasons 1-4 pretty much have to take place over the course of a single year to maybe a year and a half. All thanks to Tank.
Rainbow gets Tank in early season 2. Pre-Alicorn Twilight. Tanks for the Memories happens in early season 5, post-Alicorn Twilight, and also canonizes that winter being the first winter Rainbow Dash has had Tank (otherwise she wouldn't have been freaking out about him hibernating). Naturally this requires the order of episodes in these seasons to be scrambled to make any chronological sense (Hearth's Warming Eve for example has to happen before May the Best Pet win).
Edit: Also in the season 4 premiere, Celestia states that it's the first Summer Sun Celebration she is looking forward to, and looks a Luna while she says so. Implying that it's the first Summer Sun Celebration after Luna's release from Nightmare Moon.
As for the ages of the Mane 6. If you take the IDW 20th Anniversary comic into account then by the time of the Movie the Mane 6 are at least 25 years old (if not a little older). Since the theme of the comic was a 20 year jump to the past to the day the Mane 6 got their cutie marks, and was also the day Spike was hatched making him around 20 years old by the time of the Movie.
Now granted the canon status of the comics are often dubious at best, so that should be taken with a grain of salt, but it's also the most narrow point of reference for how old the Mane 6 could be.

@@memethyst Just think of it as dragons taking longer to mature than ponies. They do have considerably longer lifespans so it's not much of a stretch to imagine them taking a little longer to grow up as well.

Why is no one talking about Equestria Girls?
Twilight was 5 I'm guessing when she got her cutie mark. That's the usual age to start kindergarten. The other mane six we're possibly the same age say for Fluttershy as she's a year older than Pinkie Pie. I'm guessing Spike was around 12 when they first moved to Ponyville, this adds 12 years to everyonesages. So if 6-7 years passed then the mane six minus Fluttershy are atleast 24-25 and Fluttershy is atleast 25-26. I'll age them up another 20 years maybe 25 give or take seeing how they've all grown with Pinkie Pie having a kid. I see that gray hair on Rarity as work stress nore than age. So I see them being in their late 40's early 50's.
I think they are ner the same age as each other as the show starts let's look at cumsum alcohol which in this show is apple cider do you guy's remember speedy 6000 well let's look at real life legal age should we you must be 21 or older a nother thing is you have to be at least leave in a home by yourself 18 to owen it all of the mane 6 have there place were they leave so they must be 17 to 18 from the start

They say "the thousandth" or "a thousand" its always been contextualized as 1000 years not more or less.

I don't know the first time Celestia raised the sun, but Celestia, and Luna both say Summer Sun Celebration is not about the first time Celestia raised the sun.

So I guess they are young adults....but how old are the cmcs then?.... If the cmcs are 6 and the others are young adults they have a pretty big age difference between the cmcs....I never expected them to have a huge age difference like that....sometimes I think it would be cooler if they were like teens....but I don't know that's just what I think
they're definitely not 6, i think they're around 10 at the beginning and around 13 by the end judging by the way they act in the later seasons and the fact that their sisters put more responsibility on them and actually mention them growing up

@@kitty_playz1890 there's an episode with a flashback to sweetie belle's 5th birthday and she looks much smaller. and the reason they look younger than they probably are is because the show uses character models instead of drawings and they've always just had the same model just with added cutie marks
