Back in vanilla I had the awkward luck to find out that vael's first debuff application would trigger lightning shield, which is kinda neat because it meant that thorns also triggered... but it was also horrible as I instantly pulled threat and caught the timed first breath attack in the face... took us like 4 pulls to figure out how I, or the other shamans were pulling threat when we had not even cast a spell yet.
in AQ 20 on ossirian we had 4 fire mages nd our tank said "let tank get threat before going ham and watch ignites on fire vuln" so we all hit scorch nd went fucking HAMMM then did hot potato with the boss coz threat XD we got rank 1-4 for server tho, lips is so op!
Another example, Eye of the Dead healing trinket from Saph in Naxx didn't work correctly for the entirety of classic for heal over time spells. Normally it gave you a buff similar to the ZG trinket that counted down from 5 every time you used a spell, but this trinket didn't trigger hots. So you had 30 seconds of insanely buffed HoTs instead of 7.5 seconds (5x 1.5 second casts). With being the only resto druid and using full Tier 2 (extra rejuv tick)... this combo was kinda nuts, even in naxx. For added context, the on use effect was 450 healing for 5 casts. However because HoTs didn't eat the casts… that meant you got 20 casts of 450 healing buffed hots. This would give Eye of the Dead an effective average healing of 182.5 healing (70 Base + 450/4). When looked at side by side compared to rejuv gem… which gave 66 healing, this trick was nuts.

I really think that the melee weaving for hunters were super cool. They shouldn't have got rid of that, that's one more way of getting better at your class :(
Then they'd have to either A) Balance all hunter damage around the idea that they'll be weaving, meaning if you don't weave you'll do significantly less damage than those who do or B) Make it do so little damage that it's basically just for style points.
@@Jimpy__ Well that's their job to figure out how to balance that. May be make it a talent or something. This is WoW before everything was normalized. I like Vanilla for this, multiples items with different effect which were usable for PvE & PvP content. Truly RPG.
Meleeweaving in Vanilla was probably fine - Hunters didn't have a lot of spamable abilities so there was significant downtime where you could step in, melee, step back out. In TBC Meleeweaving was... a chore. We had more abilities and effectively zero downtime. So to get in good melee swings you had to play near perfectly (or have a cheeky script macro) otherwise the meleeweave would be a DPS loss. Thank goodness its not a thing in Wrath - we have trapweaving, but its nowhere near as complicated and is a massive DPS increase as Survival due to lock and load procs being more common (for those not in the know, you get the proc from dot ticks from either Black Arrow, Explosive Trap or Immolation Trap - Explosive has a longer uptime then Black Arrow AND does more damage even single target (and is nutty good with cleaving or AoE), while Immolation is just... bad?). Main downside is some bosses have annoying hit boxes (either tiny ones right in the center of the model or massive ones where you have to spend two seconds running in before dropping then using disengage to leap backwards) and its reliant on the tanks cooperating by not moving around unexpectedly.
Most of the top TBC parses with hunters weren't even playing the game near the end of TBC classic, a lot of the top Chinese players had an addon that worked with AutoHotKey to do their rotation. Because ranged and melee range was such a small difference, the addon would also do incredibly small player movements so that the hunter would be in melee range to raptor strike and then instantly be in ranged weapon range again.
Hard disagree on TBC weaving being a chore, it felt so much better than Vanilla because of the deadzone removal. You could weave very badly and still gain DPS from it. Macro abusers definitely ruined it though.

I was hesitating at first but I joined this week and it's really chill for leveling.Decent amount of World PvP in Hillsbrad, STV , Stonetalon, even fought 5v5 infront of RFK entrance where we wiped the enemy without any casualties. No trouble finding dungeons, I ran WC 3 times , SFK 2 times , BFD once , SM GY 4 times , RFK 3 times. You get to know almost everyone your level on the server and add them and there is a true feeling of community. I even convince people to run the same dungeon multiple times and they almost always agree, and we sometimes even go to certain Elite quests to knock them out as a group. Good Vibes all around, I would love to see more people join this is an amazing server and if it keeps growing it will only get better. On average i'd say 300 to 500 people online on Horde side, about the same for Alliance.
Hunters were good at spellmelee damage if you were dual wielding the life steal weapons from ZG (2× 1h axes) with a couple hundred spellpower) There are videos on UA-cam of a melee only hunter pulling some good dps from life steal melee procs
yes and no. late stage vanilla wow has basicly been "solved". every bis setup is known, every abusable tactic, every rotation etc etc, and it's not a new game attracting new players. thus you just get very dedicated grinding of select places in the world (leaving most content unused). however the game wasn't this static back then, with the first year basicly consisted of patch after patch that redid most classes, most of the gear and loads of mechanics. this utuber refers to frost as being the pick due to fire resistance on mobs, but it was also due to the incredibly limited mana management available to mages, and with gear more or less ONLY scaling your int and spirit (and doing jack crap to your spell damage) you just had most mages going frost as it's better to do slightly less dps continually than sitting there regening mana doing nothing for half the fight.
This reminds me of the drug addicts I went to rehab with. We could take anything and form it into a bowl to smoke with. True addiction leads to ultimate creativity when one has to be efficient.
dragonsbreath chili has no ICD. on private funservers where a 0.00 attack speed is attainable through high haste custom gear DBC procs nearly constantly and is used to supplement damage. same with shadow oil on weapons.
@@drafman1 walking back and forth with the quartz addon was easier than queueing a heroic strike and watching your offhand swing timer to get two hits off per heroic strike. Getting 5 weapon skill was easier than getting passive uncrushable.

Not sure if Willie has or will do a video about Diamond Flask. This allowed warriors to have a healing over time effect. Classic Warriors would have a “flask” set with healing stars that they would equip in and out of. Would love to see Willie talk about this.
I’d love if you’d make a video about how classic wow Is the only game where every zone matters every item could be good for specific moments and so on. Yes I love wotlk because most classes feel way more perfect but classic is awesome because it has flaws and we learned playing with them
I think this video is a partial example of why wow went downhill. Classic was loved for the story, the combat, the community, and it seems like every patch since cata has been making one of these core aspects worse. I won't be delusional and say wow would still be king if they hadn't added things like lfr but it changed how the game is played so much that it's kind of absurd.
Yeah, I am not that kind of person who tries to squeeze out such thing. I am too old school for that and am satisfied with doing well enough and not this crap
And all of this just to defeat the boss 3 seconds faster. No seriously, quit speed running people. You aren’t playing Mythic Retail. You’re not even close to their level. Quit pretending like Classic is hard or even needs this level of sweaty tryhard.
Weapon skill had diminishing returns. Which only hit once you reached the skill cap. The actual cap was 315. Anything over 315 did basically nothing. Glancing blows are reduced to as low as 15% probability at the weapon skill cap. Your crit and hit depend on weapon skill i believe but only upto 300.
Wrong you can't affect the probability of glancing blows. It is always a 40% chance of a glancing blow against level 63 targets. You could however reduce the damage penalty to a maximum of 5% penalty at 308 skill. At 300 skill the penalty is 35%.
This video implies us "boomer" Vanilla raiders were unaware of the advantages of +300 wep skill and that it was degenerate Classic zoomers who discovered it
I played on a pserver where there was this melle hunter. And he used spell dammage gear. I remember him rolling on eye of neph in a raid and everyone got mad
''mages where even playing frost'' hey! dont make me leet my old undead come over there and spank your feral frost novad in place posterior with some well placed chilled and arcane spells! ;) fire was so cliche!
hmm , that weapon skill thing made me curious , i cant recall if there was ways to make it do funky things with the way 'skill in spell schools' could be fiddled with a bit in some small funky way..
I pushed off my main tanks zg buff with my imps fire shield because he told me to summon it for blood pact . I should’ve turned off that spell before entering raid group
if you were maximising dps you weren't arms. also weapon skill mattered far less for arms (it only affected white damage, and arms did most of it with skills)

Macro abusers definitely ruined it though.

spell rogue with on hit procs, shadow oil, dragon chili
No
Garbage tier
really solid video
did getting weapon skill up to 312 (human/orc+edgemaster) do anything worthwhile for raid bosses?
N 307 and it drops off significantly as the glancing is no longer affected
Honorable mention would be unholy death knights snap shotting manual crowd pummeler haste into army of the dead. And of course gargoyle.
We have one of the top ferals in wrath in our guild and he flower weaves lol
flower weave? what on earth is that :D
@@Edolin89 not sure how it works but he shifts out of cat form to cast gift of the wild on the raid to try proc clearcasting during energy downtime
@@Ayayron_e3 Precisely that 🤘 U can be sneaky and do a insant heal and get a proc to. But gift of the wild insane high chance to proc omen. Gimps raid wide dps tho if no other provide the 5% crit buff when your out of form 😂
If you enjoy Vanilla come join us in Classic Era Whitemane PVP server, doesn't matter which faction you choose the server's actually playable. On average i'd say 300 to 500 people online on Horde side, about the same for Alliance.
good to hear. going now. lol
Hunters were good at spellmelee damage if you were dual wielding the life steal weapons from ZG (2× 1h axes) with a couple hundred spellpower)
There are videos on UA-cam of a melee only hunter pulling some good dps from life steal melee procs
Look whos back to making era vids, era aint dead!
The reason classic wow wasnt like vanilla back in the day was because the mentality of the players changed
yes and no. late stage vanilla wow has basicly been "solved". every bis setup is known, every abusable tactic, every rotation etc etc, and it's not a new game attracting new players. thus you just get very dedicated grinding of select places in the world (leaving most content unused). however the game wasn't this static back then, with the first year basicly consisted of patch after patch that redid most classes, most of the gear and loads of mechanics. this utuber refers to frost as being the pick due to fire resistance on mobs, but it was also due to the incredibly limited mana management available to mages, and with gear more or less ONLY scaling your int and spirit (and doing jack crap to your spell damage) you just had most mages going frost as it's better to do slightly less dps continually than sitting there regening mana doing nothing for half the fight.
Don’t forget about priests using black jujus on warriors for the extra AP
oh god, the thumbnail get me
I'm rolling my fire kitty right meow. Can't wait!!!
"I don't like PvP"
>Ruthlessly tries to maximize DPS so they are above everyone else.
The attack table was weird.
Turns out they were wrong about those BiS gloves.
Paul Scholes scored goals
The mechanics for Uncrushability for tanking raid bosses was just as complicated as getting weapon skill and hit rate for DPS.
And heroic strike weaving with a fast off-hand to use yellow hit chance was just as complicated as melee weaving was for hunters.
@@moostomp no it was not lol
@@drafman1 walking back and forth with the quartz addon was easier than queueing a heroic strike and watching your offhand swing timer to get two hits off per heroic strike. Getting 5 weapon skill was easier than getting passive uncrushable.
I still can't tell if feral druids are hard huffing copium or if they're just build different
Hard huffing Copium
yeah it's a hard huff for sure
I hope someday they make a classic + where they fix al lof this like it ws cool back in the day but this is the reseions i did not like og classic when playing a feral druid the other classes just had a better time with world buffs and gearing up but knowing the players and blizzard that won't happpen (if it does though then i'll be happy)
Night elf feral cats have PUPILS!??! WHAT
10:28 it was viable on OG wotlk.
Players ruined WoW more than the devs ever could. Change my mind.
I still have stacks of mystery meat in my bank on my druid to this day. In classic our aoe threat gen was not good. I used dragon breath chilli until I hit 70 in TBC. Even broke it out in kara a few time for the memes.
I miss one shotting ppl with sulfuras and slam build in early classic(later on slam was reseting aa so it wasnt fun and viable anymore)
When did this come into play - the AA resetting from slam?
This amuses me greatly. I don't care enough or have enough time to nerd out on this but yeah. Power of collective autism (I use it as a good thing).
The ea in hearth is pronounced a, like (British) ask. 👍
You forgot hunter trinket swapping!
Did i hear him say " Vanilla bosses were easy"? They were not!
Rolling ignite with flask of petrification on thaddius lol
great video. could you add chapters please
Hi Will!
I used the chili on my warrior as a secret
No feral went for that chili tactic
i was thinking the same thing? i never saw this ever lol, was this even an actual thing? i never saw any high parsing druids do this
Please cover the botting situation in wotlk right now. It's getting insane.
Even though it wasn't classic, it was wrath pre-patch, it would be interesting if you covered the short-lived clam weaving by unholy dks
I think he already talked about it in a other Video
whats that?
KEKW
Nice bait
@@shirahoney9190 oh ok thanks, didn't realize
Not sure if Willie has or will do a video about Diamond Flask. This allowed warriors to have a healing over time effect. Classic Warriors would have a “flask” set with healing stars that they would equip in and out of. Would love to see Willie talk about this.
What is there to talk about , equip healing gear and swao gear with trinket proc....
I’d love if you’d make a video about how classic wow
Is the only game where every zone matters every item could be good for specific moments and so on.
Playing at hitcap is considered breaking the game?
I. Love. Dragon. Chili.
This video implies us "boomer" Vanilla raiders were unaware of the advantages of +300 wep skill and that it was degenerate Classic zoomers who discovered it
Can you do an video on how twinks did (and still do) the same? 😃
I only play private servers now.
I played on a pserver where there was this melle hunter. And he used spell dammage gear. I remember him rolling on eye of neph in a raid and everyone got mad
''mages where even playing frost''
hey! dont make me leet my old undead come over there and spank your feral frost novad in place posterior with some well placed chilled and arcane spells! ;) fire was so cliche!
also umm at 8:30 ish ....dident mages just move away from the group and cast iceblock to 'absorbed' the bomb as it triggered ?
hmm , that weapon skill thing made me curious , i cant recall if there was ways to make it do funky things with the way 'skill in spell schools' could be fiddled with a bit in some small funky way..
I pushed off my main tanks zg buff with my imps fire shield because he told me to summon it for blood pact . I should’ve turned off that spell before entering raid group
Be Horde, go pvp, get mindcontrolled and then have paladin blessings thrown on you...
I used to like mcing people just to give them fort, I'm sure they were scared though when I did it
dragon roger
Obsidian edged blade
if you were maximising dps you weren't arms. also weapon skill mattered far less for arms (it only affected white damage, and arms did most of it with skills)
I was the #2 best shadow priest on season of mastery, you forgot the gigachad Meleeweaving shadowpriest with (almost) infinite mana!
Fun scam:)
Why is everything spoken in past ? Look at era servers, people are playing.
