"does a baseball ever hit a fan?"
Every game. Every. Single. Game. It's part of what makes it a fun experience. You get to keep the balls hit to you btw.

I think he meant injuring a fan. In which case that does not happen every game and teams have taken more precautions when it comes to fan safety. Once in awhile a kid or old woman gets seriously injured though.

Ben J. Riepe I’d disagree with that at least now. Now everyone is hitting homeruns, there’s a lot more offense and more action. Also, where there is a no hitter, it’s exciting and stressful for the entire game until the no hitter gets broken up

baseball playoffs go like this in this order:
AL Wild Card NL Wild Card (win or go home)
    ALDS NLDS (best of 5)
    ALCS NLCS (best of 7)
    World Series (Best of 7)
Major Leauge baseball is split between two leagues the (American league and the National league)
the winners of the ALDS and NLDS play for the ALCS and NLCS, the winners from those series play for the world series.
All of these reactions are late in the game or huge game-changing moments at home teams stadium hence why the crowd goes insane. the build-up from the game and playoff baseball produces some of the most dramatic moments in sports.

  • @michaeljvirginelli2794
    @michaeljvirginelli2794 4 роки тому +277

Finally I’ve been waiting for you to make this video. I’ll explain some of your questions:
1)The home and away fans: the crowd is mixed, there is no specific spot for home or away fans, they share the stadium.
    2) The rules: when a player hits the ball, he can run to any of the bases, going from first, second, third, and home. Every time a player steps on home, their team gets a point, or a “run” in baseball terms.
    3) Home runs: When a player hits the ball into the stands in fair territory, it’s called a home run. This means the hitter and everyone else on base can score.
    4) Basic rules: if the batter hits the ball and it’s caught by a fielder before it hits the ground, it’s an out. If he hits the ball on the ground, the fielder can throw the ball to first base. If the ball gets to first base before the batter, he’s out. There are 3 outs per half inning. After 3 outs, the other team has the chance to score. There are 9 innings in a game. If the game is tied after the ninth inning, it goes into extra innings until someone wins. If the home team takes the lead in the ninth inning or on, it’s called a walk-off win. That’s when the crowd goes crazy a lot in the video.
    5) Pitchers: the pitcher is the one who throws the ball to the hitter. If he throws the ball inside the “strike zone” it’s a strike. If not, it’s called a ball. The Umpire decides if it’s a strike or ball. If he throws the ball and the hitter swings and misses, it’s a strike too. If the batter hits it, and the ball goes into foul territory, it’s a foul ball and a strike. Three strikes is a strike-out, and four balls is a walk, where the batter goes to first base for free. You can’t strike out on a foul ball.
    5) Reaction suggestions:
-Nastiest pitches in baseball (some pitchers throw the ball 100+ miles per hour, with a foot of vertical or horizontal movement!)
-Longest home runs in MLB history (some have been farther than 500 feet)
    -Craziest plays in MLB history
-most emotional moments in MLB history
I hope you see this and find it useful. I hope it helps you understand the game I love.

I Has 3 Cray0ns However it depends on the situation. Take the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays for instance, the Red Sox are 118 years old and the rays are 21 years old. Since the rays are in Florida lots of Red Sox fans will travel down to Florida for vacation and will see their favorite team the Red Sox. Watch highlights from a Red Sox Rays game and I am sure you will see a sea of red unless it is the playoffs. Also St Petersburg Florida is far away from Tampa so that is also another reason why people don’t come. Also for other teams it is due to Geography like the Toronto Blue Jays fans dominating Seattle Mariners games when they are in town because the vancouver people are closer to Seattle than Toronto.

Up til 1984 the fans used to storm onto the field after a world series win. Imagine 10's of thousands of people just tearing up the field. I think the longest ball hit was Babe Ruth at over 600 feet out of the stadium and yeah from time to time balls are hit completely out of the stadium. Yes, you can stand up. And the world series is a 4 out of 7 game series that determines who is champions that year. And yes, anyone can come to any game so yes you can go watch your team play in another city. Be careful because sometimes fights can break out due to that. And yes, many people have been injured by balls hitting them. One guy a few years ago reached for a ball and fell from the upper deck and died while his young son watched. Some times it gets really crazy like in 1984 after the Detroit Tigers won the world series people by the thousands were outside of the stadium turning over cars including a police car that I think got set on fire.

People love to say baseball is boring, but these moments just make it so special, loved seeing someone with fresh eyes take in these incredible moments just such a pure reaction, I wanted to give every backstory to every play for each moment, like Jeter’s final home at bat, Gibson limping around the bases, that’s what makes sports so great, the emotional connection, the stories told, and the ability to make the rest of the world disappear. When these moments happen nothing else matters and being in the moment is the greatest part, so much fun to watch.

I love your reactions to this! It is enlightening seeing someone not familiar with a sport react to videos of it. I assume I would be the same way if I was watching cricket or rugby, haha.
I saw some people answer your questions about home/away fans and all that. Usually, the crowd is probably about 95% home team fans in most games. There are some exceptions for the bigger/more popular teams like the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, or Chicago Cubs. They have more of a nation-wide fanbase, so they have a good amount of fans at away games, too.
I know you were questioning how to interpret some of the reactions in terms of gravity. The "World Series" is the final series of the year, which crowns the champion. So when you see or hear that, it is the biggest series possible. The World Series is a best-of-7, so the first team to win 4 games in the series, wins the championship. So when you could see in the corner that the series was "Tied 2-2", that means they are playing in game five, and the team that wins is going up 3-2 in the series and needs to win only one more to win the championship. "Game 7" is a very important phrase in American sports lexicon, because baseball, hockey, and basketball are all a best-of-7 championship series, and when there is a "Game 7" it means the series is tied 3-3, and it is a winner-take-all final game, and EVERYONE goes crazy for it!
Before the World Series are the ALCS (American League Championship Series) and NLCS (National League Championship Series). Baseball has two different leagues, the American League and National League, and each league has 15 teams in it. So the ALCS is the last two teams remaining from the AL, and the NLCS is the last two teams remaining from the NL.
Before the League Championship Series, there's the ALDS (American League Division Series) and NLDS (National League Division Series), which are the final four teams from each league. Four teams from the NLDS and four teams from the ALDS, and the two winning teams in each league advance to the LCS.
Before the League Division Series, there's a single-game wildcard game in each league. These are played between the last two teams in each league to make the playoffs. It is a single winner-take-all game, and the winner goes on to play the top team in each league in the ALDS and NLDS.
You were also asking if fans stand or sit, and it really is different in each situation. Baseball, for the most part, is a very slow sport. What you're seeing in these clips is not really the norm. These are the top moments of the game, all in the playoffs or for the world series championship. Regular season games, of which each team plays 162, are much less "exciting" for the most part. Baseball is probably the sport where people sit the most often, because it is such a slow-moving game and doesn't have that many exciting moments. People will stand for home runs, but that's about it. In the playoffs, which most of these are from, people will stand a lot of the time, especially late in the games.
In football/basketball/hockey, I would say fans stand more often, but there's really no teams or sports where fans are standing the whole time, or even the majority of the time.

I like watching baseball almost as much as hockey, however I will admit they are on two completely opposite ends of the "excitement" scale. Most of the time during a game, not much is actually happening that is exciting. After all it's impossible for the defense to score. Most of these clips are from the postseason and it is teams coming back to tie or get the lead or something. Also, they play 162 games per regular season, that's not including the postseason. That alone should tell you that there isn't much strenuous or high intensity action going on a lot of the time. However, that is not to say baseball isn't as enjoyable, but I will admit that I can understand why people don't like it. I happen to like it though.

Just as an FYI The Super bowl is the NFL championship
The World Series is the MLB Championship
The Stanley Cup is the NHL Championship
The Finals is the NBA Championship
Also wildcard refers to the first round of the playoffs in all of those sports.

Hey man, Loved this video. Many Americans love multiple sports; but for those of us to whom baseball is our first love... there is no greater sport! Listening to this video did my heart good. If you would like to indulge yourself with more baseball, I would love to point you in some good directions... for example: the home run at 10:30 in this video- find the video that shows that entire 7th inning of the Bluejays vs. the Rangers game: where a pitcher gets into a jam at 100+ pitches because of fielding errors, the lead changes hands, the batting team works bases loaded, a pitching change happens, a controversial play at the plate, and an epic homerun to climax, with the pitching team taking offense at the show-off bat flip (which leads to a fist fight the next season), etc. That one inning is a microcosm of what makes baseball Baseball. Let me know if you want more leads! Peace.

Finally a British football fan reacting to Baseball. Most reactions of football (soccer) fans have been about football (football). I love baseball. Grew up watching it, playing it in my backyard, played it all throughout school and into college. The game can seem slow to many people but I would argue that you aren’t really watching the game or you don’t understand what you are watching. Baseball is an exciting, strategic, skillfull, sometimes intense game. It’s best to learn the basics first. There are a ton of rules in baseball and even the basics can be a lot to take in the first few games you watch. Most of your questions I noticed were already answered so I won’t repeat that. I’m happy to see that it interests you though because I feel like baseball gets a bad reputation for no good reason other than football (football) is more popular in the states. It’s still a great game. I would much rather watch a mid season game than watch a football (football) game. It’s so much harder to win. That’s why it has 162 game season. It takes that many games to actually show which teams are better. Anyhow, try to find any baseball games and just start watching. Reading about the rules helps but you have to watch to really understand it. Also, you should really come to America and try to see at least 1 game from each sport. Videos and pictures don’t do it justice.

"OK this is the maddest one Ive seen."
And you're not even seeing the full story behind that home run at 10:30. And he still knows how crazy that shot was. In the top of the 7th inning, the Blue Jays gave up a fluke run on a very LEGAL play where the runner scored. It pissed the crowd off so much they started throwing shit on the field. They held the game up for several minutes. In the bottom of the 7th, the Rangers kept making errors that eventually led to the Blue Jays tying the game back up. And then Jose Bautista hit that monster 3 run home run and the crowd went fuckin nuts! That place was ready to explode at a moments notice and Bautista gave them every reason to. That is one of the most raw, loudest emotional reactions Ive ever seen. God I fuckin love baseball!

When the balls goes out to the stand is called a Home Run, that means everybody on base and the batter scores. Thats a lot of runs in one hit, usually enough to win the game if it is at the ending innings.

Coots Field (Colorado’s Stadium) is bigger than most ball parks. It’s not as tall but it is much wider and longer, a lot of hits that would usually be home runs can be caught in Colorado

Also also, baseball works like this,
-you have 2 teams and each team takes turns batting and fielding,
-the fielding team has a guy called the pitcher, his job is to make sure that the batting team will not hit the ball.
-Each player batting has 3 attempts or strikes to hit the ball,
-After these 3 strikes the batting team is given an out.
    - When the batting team reaches 3 outs the two teams switch.
-After both teams get a chance to bat then the inning is over.
-Their are 9 innings, meaning that the teams switch between batting and fielding 9 different times.
-Long hits are called home runs these are instant scores
-if you have multiple people on the bases and someone hits a homerun every person on base scores.
-if the batting team hits the ball and a player catches it the batter is out and the next batter is at bat.
-You can get batters and Baserunners out by tagging them with the ball in your glove, catching the ball and tagging the base before the runner gets to the base.
-the flags are called Penants, depending on the stadium you go to, some teams might hang penants displaying they won their league, and some may represent the number of World Series Championships (equivalent of like winning the premier league cup I think) they’ve won.
-Their are 30 teams, and 2 leagues; the American League and the National League, 15 teams in each league.
-The World Series is a 7 game series between the winners of the American League and the National League.
-A no hitter is when the pitcher plays and entire game and doesn’t allow a single person to hit the ball or reach a base.

So for Lavish Luka and anyone who wants to read, the world series is indeed baseball's biggest prize and the championship series of Major League Baseball. The World Series is a best 4 out of 7 series played between two teams. The two teams are the American League (AL) champions and the National League (NL) champions. The first team that wins 4 games are crowned baseball champions (more commonly referred to as world series champions). The minimum amount of games played in a World Series is 4 and the max amount is 7.
