"Farmers all around the country struggle to harvest their crops and deliver them to markets on time, particularly those who have grown vegetables. Videos from Kolar, Karnataka, have recently surfaced showing farmers throwing truckloads of tomatoes on the side of the road because of low prices. On the other side, Tomato prices have grown due to decreased production. Due to Covid-19 lockdowns, many tomatoes went unsold in the past two years. So farmers are afraid to plant the tomatoes because of this uncertainty in the price.
As a result, tomato production has been ineffective for the previous few years. Growing tomatoes isn't even a hobby for farmers. The government has provided subsidies to all farmers to motivate them to grow tomatoes and expand their production. A farmer will be eligible for government payment of 37,500 rupees if he can show that he grew 1 hectare of tomatoes. We go into great detail about this subsidy in this video."
