I feel like I'm gossiping with an old friend and I LOVE IT. I could listen to Abby talk about this stuff for HOURS. I said this before, and I'll say it again. The woman really has a way with grabbing your attention, and not letting it go. In the best way possible. Of course I also LOVE learning about behind the scenes, the producers, and all that juicy Dance Mom's stuff. 😋Great video Abby.

P.S.S. it's insane that it took 4 hours to do pyramid. It looks so quick and easy on the show. Man, what they can do with editing...It's almost criminal lol.

I have so many questions about what was reality and what was production telling you to say. For example, were you really that harsh on a student other than Maddie when they forgot a dance? Was Maddie really your favorite or did you have more than one favorite from the OGs? Did you ever regret saying something horrible or apologize off camera for saying something horrible to a student or about the student on TV? Do you believe any of the OGs (besides Maddie) would have made dancing a career if it wasn't for the show?
i’ve heard that abby’s favorite was actually brooke because as we all know, brooke was able to do all the acrobatic routines. she loved utilizing brooke for how flexible she was. and i ALSO heard the abby actually really loved chloe as well. but once the show took off, a certain storyline was pushed, and it went from there. this isn’t surprising bc brooke, chloe, and paige had been with abby for the longest. brooke since she was 4, paige since she was born, and chloe since she was 2.

Abby, I was always intrigued with how you placed the kids on the pyramid. I thought you just filmed it in 30 minutes and went on to teaching the kids their dances. I didn't know it took 4 hours! I was also sad when you had to send Brady home.

Maybe people will now understand what effort is put into becoming a great dancer. Its not only about the moves and flexibility. Its everything!! Maybe Abby will get the credit she deserves now.

i dance everyday in my small little bedroom trying to practice my turns and i have bruises all over my feet because its not a proper floor and because i wear socks because i dont have dance shoes anymore ! thank you for inspiring me to get back into dance abby, it makes me so happy !

I was literally writing “all dance teachers mentally have a pyramid” just as you said it 😂 you can tell the producers got so involved in the show to cause drama as the series went. Absolutely love all your videos about your experience from the show itself
A professional teacher does not openly favor one student.
No teacher should ever have a pyramid. You should know your students but never rank them.
I danced for 13 years and loved every minute of it. the practice to the competition to nationals. Thank you for doing what you do. I will always be a fan. I just hope we get to see more of Abby on TV!!

It finally makes sense to me now! There was a season 5 episode where Kalani’s and JoJo’s spot on the pyramid changed in between shots without mention. Producers must’ve been moving the pictures around. Surprised the editors didn’t catch that.

I recall at the time they said Maddie won from the get go but production pushed for the confusion so that they could all fight. There pictures of the real scoresheets out there showing that the whole 30 point thing was fake,
I’d love to hear you comment on some of the craziest pyramids!! I think it would have been a better show if they had really showed what going to dance class is like. I danced from age 2 - 33 years old and loved it so much! I also became a dance teacher.

I always wondered how the kids had on new ALDC shirts every week? Did production make those? Also, did the kids learn their choreography ahead of time? They always seemed to know it already in rehearsals. Much love to you and I'm binge watching Dance Moms right now! I'm on Season 7 Episode 25, when they bring in Cheryl Burke and you announce you won't be teaching anymore that season.☹️ I love watching these videos and hearing the BTS!!❤️😘👏

If I were a dancer like those girls and had Abby as my dance instructor, I would be beyond happy about it. I don't do good with soft-spoken people, so Abby seems like a great teacher to me.

Good question, I think it's more about creating good TV. Which Dance Moms always delivered, however reality TV must have a balance between realism and good TV. Sometimes we lost that balance.

The things you instill into children is monumental. Work ethics ect. Most adults today don't have that. They know about them sure but they don't agree so they do that they want and the worst part is its not only allowed but its entertained. This is one of the many reasons why we as a society need to clone you. Bravo!

Thanks for explaining more about the BTS of pyramid. My question is if you knew the producers were pushing the mother to pick a fight why did you then take it out on the girls. That’s just mean in my eyes, the mother was being forced by the producers. I feel so bad for the girls having to go through that every week.
I couldn't take it out on the producers, we'd be there all day. You can't break the fourth wall in the reality TV world because the producers don't really "exist" right? I was a team player and the moms were too - for the most part. But trust me when I say, the producers and I had lots of conversations about what I talked about in this video, off camera. They were doing their job, and we were a cast of a television show that needed to entertain. Much of what the mother's said was coming from a real place, because it was he said this and she said that, being whispered in their ears. I was responding, telling it like it is. I couldn't turn to the man in the wings and say, why did you tell her that. They wouldn't air it and then just tell me to have the conversation with the mom. So that's how the circle of drama continued. I wanted to get back to what I loved doing which was coaching my girls and making them better.

@@therealabbyleemiller thanks for your reply. Yes it does answer some questions but you missed one of my questions. Why take it out on the girls. Yes it’s for drama but taking it out on the girls is just cruel. In season one they were just 8-12 years old.
Nothing the producers could do would make that right in my opinion.
