I felt responsible as I know about the craft and many people out there do not know. I immediately traveled to Srikalahasthi to create this documentary. I am happy that many people are getting to see this video. I am sure they are understanding the intricacy of this beautiful fabric. I am happy that you liked this video. Please share with others 😊 Let my efforts reach more people

Please do share it with others so it is more helpful for everyone.. thank you so much 😊 it really means a lot to me..🤗🤗
Arpitha Rai it goes without saying that I will most definitely share it with my friends and family. I just am in love with the way you conducted the interview and how professional you were with your questions. Also the way you made Mr Chandra's family comfortable enough to be open about their art and way of living. It was raw and stark and the fact that it didn't have frills to it made the whole thing more compelling and the narration took on a more realistic outlook. I hope you consider doing more documentaries because you have an aptitude for it.
Oh wow!! You have noticed so much in the video and such a good feedback! Thank you so much.. your good words are really encouraging. I'm very happy that you'll share this video.. thanks a lot. I will try to create more documentaries in future. My only worry is, will people like to watch such long videos?
Arpitha Rai If the content is good, then it is a simple yes. Always add on subtitles and by making it interactive i.e, asking viewers opinions and questions as well as perhaps having polls on what to do the next video on will help loads because the audience knows that you are engaging with them and that our thoughts do matter to you. It is a slow process but ultimately a fulfilling one of you enjoy being in front of the camera as well as the back . :)
That's a great advice. Thank you so much. I will learn that..❤️❤️❤️🤗
Its like buying a painting ❤
Thank you 🙏
Totally!! It is like buying a painting 😊
Superb work
Very good work. Keep it up.
The final work came in the frame. And then my heart skipped a beat.
Thank you for this video. I have been really looking to buy handpainted Kalamkari and saw many options online (Fabindia has one selling for Rs.2999/-), but had many doubts. This video is not just educational but also makes it so easy to purchase. Also, the fact that the money is going directly to the artist is very gratifying, especially how the ground reality is (explained so succinctly by Chandra ji) Thanks a zillion :)
Devika, thank you so much for such nice words.. I look for this kind of support to work on more such videos. These fabrics are generally expensive than the regular mill made ones as the whole process is such an intricate one.. these brands will definitely add their margins as they have to advertise, maintain a big store and get the customers to buy.. it's just business.. so my main goal through this video was to guide my audience to the artisan directly..I get messages from them saying people are calling them from different parts of India n buying fabric from them. Such a satisfaction it is 😇😇
I have been in touch with them. Very responsive team. :)
Oh that's great..😃😃😃
I am trying to get the artist’s contact information to place an order
Very nice and helpful video!!👍thanks !I will definately buy clothes from Mr.Chandra.👍

Mam around what will be the price of these sarees approx if we are buying from artisan themselves,we want to give them work ,it is just that if it is overbudget and we ask them to Whatsapp and than come to know his charges are very high than better to buy from shops
Loved the whole video..very informative but it was too sad to know there is no help from such artists from government to save our handlooms....Arts...n cultures...
Thank you for liking the video. That is the sad state of this beautiful art. I've put in so much effort to do lil support from my end.
That's a good one dear
😃Thank you Sheeba..pls share the video with others and help me spread the knowledge..
Sure ma.
Thank you. Contact them for purchase. That will help them a lot 😃
Video was very informative.... I wish to buy saree patch for one of my silk saree..... I don't know the language he speaks .... So what can I do
I'm so happy that it helped you. His daughter can manage to speak little English. You can communicate through her 😃
Thank you.... I will contact.... U could have asked for the cost from the manufacturer, which also would have helped us a lot
Price differs from design to design and the cost they bear to create that particular product. If I mention the prices of what I have shown, the same product might not be available with them when you order. So no use 😃
Fabric is hand washable or dry cleanable?
Great information 👍
Thank you for liking Vineela 😃 please share the video to spread the information.
Hi,
Thank you so much fir sharing this Video. I wanted to use Kalamkari in my interiors and being a VEGAN i cannot use at least the Srikalahasthi style. Have you made any videos on Machilipatnam Style too. I want to know if milk is used in Machilipatnam style too? . It will be very helpful if you can confirm this. Many thanks in advance. Regards, Malathi
Hi Malathi, I am happy that you liked the video. So many efforts went into it.. When I see these comments it feels like success. Machilipatnam Kalamkari uses buffalo milk. As you are planning to use for interiors not going to wear them, do you need to be so particular about milk being used?
@@arpitharai too much people fuss about
Nice video Arpitha, need help to know how to get rid of the smell of this kalamkari cloth. I am not able to use my dupatta which I bought from an artisan.
Hey Anupama, that smell comes because of the raw milk n the seed paste which they apply before getting started with the painting. All that mixture helps the colour to stick to the fabric. With washes the smell should go. I have a video explaining how to carefully wash kalamkari : ua-cam.com/video/axpBEgJaxV0/v-deo.html
Salt water dip should take the most of the smell away. Won't go in one wash. It needs some washes though
Seriously our Indians r very talented, they never gets recognisation, see they r very simple, here if we have yo buy any hand-painted kalamkari saree very expensive like10000,i think they won't get that much profit, buyers gets for lesser price, and they sale for higher price...
So true. That is the reason I'm trying to do these documentaries and show how much work goes into it, how much value it has. There is direct contact number of this artisan is given in the video description from the day 1 I posted this video. Please call him up n get in touch.
Hi mam would like to order from these hardworking people. Whom do we contact.
Which paint is used
How to make kalmkari pen plz expain
Hi Arpita can you send the detail information of Mr chandra
It's given in the description box of this video.
Very informative video but you didn't give the contact details of Mr Chandra
Thank you for liking the video. Details are in the description.
As Kalam means pen and Kari means work. So I want to know all that why it is named like that? I mean is there any sharp outline done with pen or is it done by it's basic outline sketch with pen ???
You got the meaning correct. There is a special pen made to draw with the natural dyes in Kalamkari hand painting technique. They do the outlines first with tamarind coal made into small sticks (like pencils) then they draw with the special pen using natural dyes. They do the filling with natural dyes as last step. It is just like doing painting on canvas but they do it on fabric and create beautiful clothing for us.
@@arpitharai Thank you 😍😘
Hi Arpitha, very interesting and informative.Would u be able to forward his contact?
